My awesome co-hosts today are LG Keltner, Donna Hole, Lisa Buie-Collard and SL Hennessy! Be sure to thank them for their efforts.
We are a month away from the release of the IWSG Guide to Publishing and Beyond. So much effort has gone into this book, and I’m proud of the IWSG Admins for their efforts. And I’m very proud of the contributors – the book is packed with awesome information and tips!
I’m not insecure about that book.
However, I am nervous about the next step in my personal author journey.
April 7, 2015 is the official release date for my next (and last) book, Dragon of the Stars. (Yes, right in the middle of the A to Z Challenge. I may have a meltdown that month.)
However, I am not nervous about the cover art, which I finally got to see Monday afternoon:
One more time – can I do it?
My Dear Dragon Friend

The Realms Faire is coming next week! And guess what – I am one of the jousting Knights. My joust is Monday and you can cheer for me then and throughout the week. Tons of prizes, from books to gift cards. Don’t miss it!

What are your writing insecurities today? Picking up some new books? What do you think of Mini-Alex’s new friends? What movie catches your eye this month? Think I can survive another book release? And what do you think of the cover art…?

Hi I am first?
I will look forward to both books,
Your April book your last? you've said that before.
Have left a comment on my blog about my ISWG.
Have a good day and thanks for a wonderful newsy blog.
That cover is awesome. Love the Dragon Ship design. AL did a great job on the Ninja Rivals :)
I'm hoping to get to see Interstellar at the movies. Badadock looks intriguing too.
Congrats to all the authors with book releases. Whoop whoop.
Congrats on the book release. Last book ever? *sounds so sad* Great cover. I love the Madagascar movies, so I definitely want to see the penguins. They are too funny.
Juneta at Writer's Gambit
Fantastic cover! Congratulations on teh upcoming release! :)
The cover art is amazing! Interstellar looks really interesting. Your wife has good taste--the Penguins are awesome.
Awesome cover, Alex!
Great list on the new book releases.
Saw the Big Hero 6 trailer. Would love to watch it.
very cool cover alex....definitely "like"
and i am really looking forward to interstellar...i hope it is as good as i hope....
Cool cover, can't you find a way to make the AtoZ incorporated into the book release.
Congrats to those with new releases.
Impressive artwork on your cover, Alex. You're super-organized, so I know you won't be too stressed.
Thanks to your co-hosts and have a wonderful IWSG day.
Of course you can, Alex. I'm sure when you started this whole writing venture you asked yourself that same question, and here you are, with a trilogy under your belt.
Dude I love the cover! I read a science fiction novel the other day and I was so disappointed in the cover since this is the genre were the cover should really catch the eye and yours does!
I am goin to see pinguins. Yeah for your wife.
You'll need twice as much help in April than last year. Dwarves saw clones bargaining for hiding places during April.
Spectacular cover. All I'm saying.
You welcome.
Wow. Such a gorgeous cover! You definitely can survive another book release. You're the Ninja Captain for a reason! Congrats to everyone releasing a book this week. My son wants to see Big Hero 6, so we'll see if he can sit through a whole movie at the theatre. I've not heard of The Babadook but that simple poster has me intrigued.
Cool cover, Alex! A book release during A-Z Challenge is challenging itself, but you've got this!
Alex, I love the Title of your new book and the Cover it Stellar! (get the pun) Thank you for plugging my new release!!!!
Yvonne, you're first! And I know, I keep saying it's my last.
Donna, thanks for co-hosting today!
Brian, it's a fresh tomato on Rotten Tomatoes!
Rhonda, thanks for the idea!
Melanie, that's true.
TBM, thanks! And yes, a science fiction cover should rock.
Al, if the clones go on strike, I quit.
Thanks guys!
That is one awesome cover, Alex - has a very prog rock guitar look to it. Unintentional, perhaps, but I think it suits you very well. :)
Love that cover, absolutely superb.
More on Hunger Games??? Thought that story was finished.
I would drag you to see the penguins too. Only way I would get to see it I guess.
Awesome cover! It really looks like a ship-like dragon flying through space. Congrats! And Mockingjay! Out of all those, that will probably be the only one I see in theaters. Though Big Hero 6 looks like a lot of fun. And lastly- thanks so much for the mention!!! You rock. =)
You so can do it, Alex! Great cover!
Made a note of The Babadook - sounds creepy! Saw Deliver Us from Evil - it was okay. Also saw The Fault in Our Stars - lost count of how many tissues I used. The acting was amazing! I even liked it better than the book. :)
Madeline @ The Shellshank Redemption
Your last book? I can't wait to see what you have planned after that :-)
Love the ninja and the dragon! Father Dragon Al is awesome! And Interstellar sounds exactly like my kind of movie, plus it's got a great cast. .
Very nice cover!
Awesome cover! Congrats Alex. And don't worry about the April 7th date, we won't let you have a meltdown. :)
Your book cover looks gorgeous, Alex! Please don't stop writing stories though. Maybe all you need is a break between books?
Interstellar looks like it will be an awesome movie!
I've been insecure over my computer not working right. I'm sure you're book sales will be great!
Cathrina, you're welcome!
Bob, it does! I didn't even notice.
Jo, we wish it was finished...
Leandra, you're welcome.
Annalisa - sleep!
Elise, I'm going to hold you to that.
Kristen, I'm good with breaks.
I love the cover art. And there's no question you can do it again. :)
AWESOME cover... looking forward to the book. Will you make it, YES! With all of our help, you will be ahead, count on me to make whatever letter that day be yours.
Movies this month, no takers for me... Let's jump to F7 an Avengers 2, while we are at it skip winter all together.
Jeremy
There have been a few times where I have felt like joining the IWSG but then again I really don't consider myself a writer, nor do I have any aspirations to publishing any kind of book.
I hate deadlines. The pressure to have something completed by a specific date really interferes with my writing. So I just stick to my non-schedule and post what I want, when I want. Blogging or writing anything interferes with my family time so I never bite more than I can chew.
As a fellow Sci-Fi writer I am in awe of your cover, Alex! Best of luck with it!
That is the best cover yet! Yes you can do it. You do many things all at once.
T
Love the cover! I'm looking forward to Interstellar but probably won't go to the theater to see any of the others.
Have a couple of those books on my TBR pile and the Dragon and the Ninja impresses a needleworker like me.
Cover Reveal: Your covers are awesome. I'd hold on to your cover artist with a kung-fu grip!
Interstellar: Huge Chris Nolan fan. I loved the Dark Knight series and Inception. The previews for Interstellar are intense. We have no school on Friday this week due to teacher conferences, so the Hubster is taking the day off so we can all watch the first showing. That's how much we love his films.
Every book release is like that, right? Once you know what you're jumping into, you question if you're sane enough to do it again? I'm wishing you all the best, Alex. Your release is going to be awesome.
Huge contrats to Catherine, Pat, MJ and Milo! (I had no idea Pat was branching into YA...or is it MG? Guess I better go find out.)
Unleashing the Dreamworld
Congrats on the great cover!
As a sci-fi fan first, I can tell you I would at the very least want to see what Dragon of the stars was about if I was at the book store browsing through books. I really dig that cover. It's an eye catcher.
Matt @ JC's Book Haven.
I love the cover!
That dragon Al made for you is so cute.
I love mini Alex's friends!! hhaha social security benefits. Would you believe I've only read the first Hunger Games? I wasn't a huge fan (just goes to show how subjective this biz is!) and never saw the movie! your DotS cover is amazing--can't wait for this! and hey, I know those Across the Board people! ;) yay thank you for the mention!
Love the cover! It's perfect. Love the Dragon and Ninja, too. Good luck with the book release! I'm looking forward to the IWSG Guide. Congrats to all the new releases! The kids want to see Big Hero 6. Don't know if we'll make any of the others. Thanks for hosting IWSG!
Love, love, love your new cover, Alex! It goes great with your Cassa ones too, even through it's not set in that world.
I'm hoping Interstellar is really good. I've been so impressed with what Nolan did for the Dark Knight series and Inception. Big Hero 6 looks so cute, and I will be seeing Mockingjay Part I and had to laugh at your snarky comment. :)
Your cover rocks, Alex. But, why do you say it's your last book. Do you mean, like, ever????
The piece Father Dragon created is adorable. I mean tough. Manly. hehehe
I'm tempted to go see Big Hero 6. It looks so cute and funny. I haven't been to the movies in a long while and this movie looks like it'd be worth the money.
Have a great week, Alex! Thanks for the IWSG!!
Ah, we both show new cover art on the same day! Very nice!
Awesome cover! Love the fiery bursts of electricity!
Also, I have to say, your review of Hunger Games made me laugh out loud. It's like one of those high school sitcoms that lasts forever, so at one point you have a 30 year old man playing a high school sophomore.
How do you do, fellow kids?
Maybe you can blog A-Z promoting your book, or tying into it? Regardless, I'm excited for you!
Your last book? There will still be anthologies you participate in, right?
Grats on getting the cover! It looks incredible!
Insecure- about meeting deadline for writing.
I want to see the new Minion movie and maby Hero 6- who *giggles* looks like the Michellen man...
You have a great cover- I love how you have Dragon in the title and the ship on it kind of has a dragony look and feel to it. :)
The cover is gorgeous. I'm so curious to see if you really will stop after this one. My guess is not for long...
Already have my Interstellar tickets. I can't wait!
And this is the first time I'm skipping out on my iwsg post because I don't have time. Ugh. Once these revisions are turned in I can get my life back. Hopefully.
Jeremy, thanks!
Dan, you have to do what works for you.
Jonathan, thanks!
Susan, Al did an amazing job.
Tanya, I'll hold on to my publisher with that grip!
Matt, thanks!
Beth, you're welcome. Don't bother with the movies.
Karen, I know, I know!
Elsie, that is the plan. It failed once already though...
Brandon and Bryan, exactly!
John, that is a great suggestion.
Loni, yes!
Your cover art and book title are amazing. I think this will be another hit. My son really likes your books. I'll be buying one!
You will be very near a meltdown in April, and we'll all be here to support you!!!
Play off the Page
wow, that's an awesome cover, congratulations !!!!
That's a beautiful cover Alex! Al sure did a great job! The book scheduled for next year certainly not your last. Am sure of it!
Hank
Big Hero looks so fun--I laugh at the previews every time. Interstellar also looks great. I'm seeing fewer and fewer movies these days, opting for TV and Netflix instead. I have to really want to see a movie in the theater to go.
For once I can say I'm looking forward to all the upcoming movies. No chic flics here. Interstellar tops my list. I hope its not like Prometheus which just didn't seem like it was put together correctly.
Laughing at the all probing comment for Extraterrestrial!
New cover looks great! Last book? We'll see. An April release seems like a good strategy to me.
Finally sounds like some movies for me to look forward to although I'm getting a bit annoyed with the to-be-continued franchises like Hunger Games.
Lee
Tossing It Out
You can do it! If anyone can, the Ninja can and I love that cover art. It is so cool. I also love what was sent to you-so great. Congrats to the books available. I want to see Intersteller and those penguins crack me up but I will wait until TV to see them. benedict Cumberbatch is in everything!
OH YES! What a GREAT cover! I'm so happy for you, and think you'll do fine next April, LOL! Today has been a great day visiting so many blogs...
Looking forward to reading Cathrina's, Hatt's and Milo's new books!
Love that cover art!!!
And I'll probably be seeing Big Hero and Mockingjay, Part 1 in the theaters. I actually like the Hunger Games books - although the end of the 3rd needed just one more chapter but not a 4th movie.
And, many thanks for your thoughts and comments on my blog today!!!
You're right. You outdid yourself with this post!
ALEX! Your cover is amazing! I love it! It's like you can reach right into the stars! I'll help you in any way that I can during April to make sure your book release is awesome.
Did you see the extended Avengers trailer with the hammer?
AND
Did you see the Minions trailer? So darn cute!
I think that Dragon is amazing, Mr. Al!
Heather
I think that's a cool cover. And don't worry about not being able to do it again. Even when we doubt ourselves, we're somehow able to pull off whatever it is we set our minds too. I know you'll be fine. Good luck!
Love your new cover! How awesome that you got the art so soon!
Insecurities abound for me this week. The kinds of insecurities authors aren't supposed to talk about regarding their publishers, their submissions, and etc. Feeling pretty low and hoping for some good news soon.
You can do it, Alex! You just have to be organized. Great cover!
Congrats to Cathrina, Pat, Milo, and MJ!
Thanks for all the movie info. :)
Wow! You will be a busy beaver in April. Just remember to take a few breaths. . .after all, you're a pro ;)
Congrats to Cathrina, Pat, Milo and MJ!
I love the turquoise and pale red on your cover. As an artist, I tend to notice the use of color first. Good luck with your release!
The spaceship on the cover totally looks like a dragon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I may find that very cool.)
My daughter and I are going to her first midnight release of Mockingjay. Looking forward to the new IWSG book. I have no doubt your next book will be a success. You are, after all, you!
Eek the new IWSG book is almost here! How awesome :D
Umm, a release during A to Z . . . big hugs from now lol, it will be awesome though and it will do great for a "last book." Cool cover too!
I'm looking forward to Interstellar! Hmm...and I guess even Big Hero 6, looks cute and funny :)
Hi Alex! I marked the release date for Dragons... on my calendar. I think your cover is great. all of your covers have been, but I think I like this last one the best.
I am anxiously awaiting "Interstellar." That's no surprise, but my husband is also anxiously awaiting it! Wow! I usually have to drag him to sci fi and fantasy movies! Cool dragon and ninja artwork!
My writing insecurities today: historical research, especially in old Canadian newspapers ~ just how to go about it efficiently and cost effectively. Oh yeah ~ I'm not having much luck with Canadian Parliamentary records either. I did get some great help, especially last night, from an O.M.I. Bishop in Northern Canada. Wow! Last night was the first time I truly thought: This book is going to happen! I'm gonna figure it out.
Have a happy Wednesday!
haha releasing during the a to z, you going crazy? lol that will sure be hectic but fun too I bet. Last one? bah, you'll pump out 10 before you are through. 10 is just a nice even number. Awesome cover and thanks for the shout too. Hopefully no probing in the woods comes due.
Cool cover! When's the next installment of Father Dragon vs. Ninja Alex? lol
Congratulations on the release date! No presh. lol
Yay for a new book release! The cover is awesome. Wait until you hear Hans' Interstellar score *more excited about THAT*!
Cheers!
Of Mist And Magic
Ilima, no worries!
Mary, thank you!
Stephen, I am here to amuse.
Lee, glad someone thinks it's a good strategy. I'm still in panic mode.
Tyrean, you're welcome.
Heather!!!! Thanks, and yes and yes.
Patricia, so do I!
Thank you, Fundy.
Pat, that means six more. The horror...
Debra, not sure! We'll have to ask.
Applause for the most "wow" worthy post you've done in a long time, Captain. Al's creation matches the wow factor of your amazing book cover. I'm beyond thrilled for you.
Hugs.
That might just be your best cover yet, Alex. Love it! I too will be seeing Interstellar and Big Hero on the same day. :)
Yes, very nice cover of Dragon of the Stars!
Amazing cover Alex. This book is gonna rock the charts. I am sure my Ninja Captain won't have a meltdown in April 2015. He will manage it all with his super time-management skills.
I want to see Interstellar and Big Hero.
Alex, I think the cover looks wonderful, but more importantly, I think anyone who has ever read your work is on pins and needles waiting for this next installment. You totally have this!
I can't believe your pub date is in April. Oh geez. Good thing you have clones!!!
Love the cover art. Very original and highly appealing. Woot!
You're such a huge inspiration, Alex. Congrats on your new cover. Your head must be spinning with all that's going on. Don't forget to breath.
Your last book? I sure hope not! And an April release? Oh, dear! That would be crazy, but you'll have all of us for support. :)
Congrats on the cover Alex since it looks great. I'm hearing mixed reviews of Interstellar, but I'm sure it'll be great.
Love the book cover. Terrific artwork. And, I adore dragons.
It seems that no matter how many books or stories an author writes, nor how succesful they are, there are still insecurities to be faced. Will this one be a flop? Will they be able to write another?
I suppose that's partly because each new project is different. A seperate challenge. But then that's part of what makes it fun too.
Only one month till the release of the anthology? That's impressive! And congratulations on that snazzy new cover and release date, hooray!
that is one great cover.
Father Al Dragon is truly a amazing friend. You are so lucky.
Loved all of your comments on the new movie releases. Literally laughed out loud.
Best of luck on the new book with the awesome cover art.
Also, on the new book releases ' The cat in Camelot' Wow!
GO ALEX! The cover is fantastic - congratulations to you AND mini-Alex! :)
Yikes on the release date, though. Y'know, you COULD opt out of A-Z this year. Just sayin... no? Then make it all about the release. Combine the stuff you'd do for it anyway (guest blogs, blog tours, etc) with A-Z. One job instead of two!
Congrats on the release date. The cover looks amazing!
Rachna, I'm glad one of us is sure.
Thanks, Lauren.
Robin, it just might kill off all the clones.
Chrys, I hope so!
Maurice, it's fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and that's good enough for me.
Faraway, glad I could amuse you!
Liz, have to stick with it. I'm a co-host.
Each time I check in on your post I wonder what Ninja Alex will be confronting that day. Clever, clever.
I am looking forward to all the movies except "Badabook"? Oh well.
We went to see "book of life" at last. Clever and with a message.
Love the dragon and the ninja.
And am in awe at how busy you authors are.
Congratulations one and all.
It's a good title. And that ship looks kind of like a guitar.
heh
That cover art is amazing! April is going to be a big month for you, and we're all here if you need us!
That cover is perfect! But I don't envy you your April.
Interstellar is at the top of my "wanna see" list.
Alex, your covers are always amazing. And worry not about a nervous breakdown in the middle of A to Z, you'll have plenty of us supporting you to help you through it.
Oh! And the dragon is cool. =)
I'm really looking forward to 'Interstellar,' but I've heard it's getting mixed reviews. :( I'm excited about your new book and wish you the best as always. I wish it wasn't your last, but I understand why it is. Here's hoping the last will be your most successful!
Love the cover! Very fitting. :-D
Congrats on being a knight. I'm taking part next week as well Alex. The cover art for your 'last' book is mind blowing. I love the bright colours and the big ship. Father D. is super talented, indeed. Interstellar, Big 6 and Mockingjay are my must sees this month. Most likely I will also see Penguins movie as well but that's because the trailers (and the penguins to darn it) seduced me. Back in February I was determined not to see it. Two Dreamworks Animated movies was enough. But no, I'm probably going to end up seeing all three. November is going to rock. Have a great day Alex.
Love the cover and yes, you can do it!
Love that new cover. April is going to be a busy time for you! Looking forward to seeing the completed IWSG anthology too.
What a lovely gift from Father Dragon.
The new cover looks great! I won't be doing AtoZ on my personal blog, so can do something for you in April. Does that help?
Wow, lots more great books out.
The best of luck with Dragon of the Stars! Of course you can and will kick butt with your last installment. Someone knitted that dragon and ninja Father Dragon Al sent you. They are precious. Is he a knitter too?
Yes you can! Hmmm. Someone reminded me of Yoda's words this morning. "There is only DO!"
Love the cover for Dragon of the Stars. Very eye-catching. Best wishes & thanks for keeping IWSG going.
Susan, glad you saw it.
Andrew, three of you have now pointed that out...
LG, I will need you!
Cherie, thanks!
MsMariah, that would be awesome.
Sheena-kay, those penguins have a way of sucking people in...
Mary, yes it does!!!!
Yes, and I think it's crochet.
Liza, I wonder who that was...?
Sweet cover!
That is exactly how I'd picture a dragon of the stars :). And you can totally do it.
Alex,
A great cover for your new book, a dragon ship to sail the cosmos. Many new book releases and I am very happy to see Max Blizzard and the Gem of Camelot. One of my favorite authors of course. Have a great week!
PS:
It's nice to have friends send you cool gifts. I am speaking of the dragon and mini Alex.
Super Cover, Alex!!
I'm regret missing out on IWSG this month. Been a little under the weather. And darn, I had so much to post about too.
Thanks again for highlighting my book last week.
You keep mentioning this will be your last book. It's just the last one in the series, right? You'll be doing more books, I hope!
Wow, the cover looks amazing!! Congrats, Alex!
I'm loooking forward to seeing Big Hero 6. I've heard great things about The Babadook too. It's an Aussie movie and even here it was given a limited release. Makes me sad.
Good luck to you, and to the others with new books out (or coming out soon) too.
I want to see Big Hero 6. I don't want to see the Penguins, but we probably will. ;)
Truedess, very nice to have friends like that!
Carol, no worries, and you're welcome.
Stephanie, hopefully the last book ever. Might do short stories instead. Less pressure.
Lynda, that's a shame.
Love the new cover! And you'll make it through April I'm sure of it!
I love the Alex and the Dragon, so cute!
Congrats to all the new releases from the ninja army, and how does Pat Hatt write so many books? :)
A book release and A to Z sounds very stressful. Best of luck, Alex! I like the cover.
Congratulations and I adore the book cover. Looks amazing. April will be here before you know it! Good luck! I am always astounded how many comments you receive on your blog on a daily basis!
Hey Alex! You're cover is freakin' awesome! I'm loving the greenish sky and the red accent colors.
That's a pretty cool ninja and dragon Father Dragon Al made for you. What a good friend!
Thanks for the laugh about the Hunger Games movie...too funny.
I think Interstellar looks good, mostly because I'm a big fan of Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, plus it has an amazing director...should be a great movie.
Raucous cover and tip-o-the-cap to mini Alex's new friends. The book most captivating me now is my first novel that I completed first markup/edits on two days ago. Currently reading Paradise Not Quite Lost.
Book launch, rocket launch, grenade launch, you'll survive and thrive them all!
Love the cover for your new book! Father Dragon did a beautiful job on his crochet work! Interstellar has been getting a lot of buzz lately. I'm so excited about both of your upcoming books, Alex!
Julie
Congrats on such a great cover, Alex - looks very classic sci-fi, though the ship does look a bit like a dragon. Good stuff. ^_^
And since I've already gone on about my insecurities in my own blog, I'll just say that the only movie I'm really interested in this year is the last 'Hobbit' movie - it takes a lot for me to want to go see a movie, there's always stuff I'd rather do.
Alex, that new cover ROCKS! Wow, so cool. I'll help spread the word when it's out in April. No meltdowns allowed. You're the cool one, remember?
Feels like forever since I was last able to stop by. Glad to see the dragon/ninja combo! Lovely work by a most talented dragon. Thinking I may have to make time to check out Interstellar. And yes, you can do it one more time!
I love the cover. The ship evokes dragon energy for sure. I'm also excited for Mockingjay. Love the dragon/ninja art, too.
Big hero!! I want to see that so bad! Alex, the cover art looks amazing. :)
I love the cover art of your new book Ninja!
Tell me those penguins don't rock! :) Love mini-Alex's new friends and just waiting to hear details about the book release. Consider moi there. Hugs, Eva
Loooove your cover art - only just now seeing it for the first time. :) And of course you can do it! You've done it three times before and succeeded. What's one more? :)
A fantastic cover for what will no doubt be a great read I'll enjoy. Congratulations! And heck yes, you can do it just great one more time.
I'm looking forward to a couple of these movies too. BTW, if you didn't catch it, the New York Times Magazine had a long profile of Christopher Nolan and how Interstellar was conceived.
I LOVE your new cover! It's gorgeous!
Can't wait for the IWSG book too!
And love seeing Mini-Alex and Father D side-by-side...getting acquainted...
...and who can resist those penguins? They are cute!
That is an awesome cover, Alex!
I lpve your cover art. It really pulls you in. Plus, i have faith. Not only will you survive this book launch, it will be your best one ever.
I hadn't heard of Babadook, but it seems creepy and intriguing. I won't actually mind seeing Big Hero 6.
As for my insecurities, I will be starting my own book marketing and launch soon.
Hi Alex - love the new cover .. before Father Dragon Al .. brilliant creation -and how lovely he's flown it over to you!!
I hate to mention it .. but Babadook is on locally - so I'll get to see it: sorreeee!!
Gosh you will be busy in March/April ...
Amazing books out now ... good luck to all .. cheers Hilary
Excellent coverand bet it delivers once cracked open too! Sorry I'm late with my insecure post but just started shift work and my inner clock is kablooey! As to my own insecurity, I continue to fight it. Sometimes I'm ahead, sometimes it is winning. Importantly, I do not say uncle!
Great cover! I'm so excited for you! :)
Interstellar looks very interesting.
Donna, you and me both!
Kristin, I'm seeing it early tomorrow and will have a review up on Monday.
Mason, have to see the final Hobbit film!
Julie, I'll try to remember that.
Jeff, Al is talented!
Trisha, you're right.
Helena, I'll have to read that.
Jan, no worries on being late.
Love the cover, Alex.
Missed the IWSG post yesterday - life finally caught up with me... only just realising what day it is. Slapped wrist and no supper.
Wow, the release is right in the middle of A-Z? Somehow I missed that. You'll do fantastic, as you always do! It'll just be busy. :)
That Interstellar looks really interesting...
Sci-fi movies are def on the rise. So cool to see it happening!!
I love your cover, Alex. Very striking with that pinkish hue bleeding into the darker colors.
Big congrats!!
Of course you can do it. Perhaps do a A TO Z based on your book?
Like PK, I love your cover and its color scheme.
I forgot that today was IWSG, but as it turns out, the topic of my post fit so I altered the title and left a link to IWSG at the top. :-)
Congratulations on the book. An exciting but nervous time. You'll do great. The cover is awesome.
Love the little Ninja
Hi Alex, Thanks so much for including my book in your post. I see I'm in some very good company - such a wonderful list of authors here. Insecurities...oh, where to begin, as my kitchen floor gets fixed and I work on the patio for the rest of the week. At least the weather is agreeable - fall through spring are perfect temps in AZ.
That is so cool how the spaceship looks like a dragon! I bet even Father Dragon is impressed! (Very cool little ninja from him, too!)
Roland, no worries!
Roland, that was suggested and I just might do it. And cool!
MJ, you're welcome.
Sherry, yes he was!
Hahaha, this The Dragon and Ninja's wonderful creation, a good gift!
Very cool cover art.
I definitely want to see Mockingjay. I wish they didn't have to split up the last book into two movies, but then again, I suppose there's more money to be made this way.
A book release in the midst of IWSG? You are brave!
Love the cover...so cool!! Al is the best guy. What a gift!
Cover art for your book is great! I'll be checking in on Pat Hatt's book too. No Babadook in Carolinas - bah-humbug! Guess it'll be a penguin holiday for me as well.
My insecurities involve anything but writing. Then again I'm not a writer - I blog.
No doubt. Of course you can do it. You are the king of amazing. Awesome cover. That alone should give you tons of confidence. I don't know how the IWSG team can do so much. The team is fantastic. Thanks to you guys for what you do to help us fellow writers. It is absolutely appreciated.
Interstellar is going to be the big film that actually gets me out to a theater. It's on my weekend schedule!
You can so do it! In April though -that will be scary, but the cover is awesome.
I absolutely love your book cover. Congratulations!
Cynthia, that's why they do it. Seems to be the trend.
Elizabeth, it wasn't by choice!
Murees, that's great to hear.
Thanks, guys!
I think it's perfect that Dragon of the Stars is being released during A-Z! That seems hugely appropriate! How exciting. :)
Great cover art. Cover art never turns out the way you request, but as with any group effort, it often turns out better.
April will be here before we know it! I am not sure how it is November already. :)
Love to see all the new releases.
Seeing the upcoming movies reminded me that I still need to watch Catching Fire! I am soooo far behind on my movies. Have to catch up.
~Jess
I somehow did A to Z and my book's release last April. It was tiring.
I love your cover.
Congratulations on the new book cover! I LOVE it!
Wait, why is this going to be your last book? I think you should write more! I think you are particularly gifted.
I just love spacy art, and the art of space on your cover. Now I have an insecurity about ever being able to comment on the actual IWSG day. This time my computer power button broke. I finally fixed it with hot glue, so here I am. Yea for your final book even if it's not final!
I am BEYOND excited to watch Interstellar. I think I shall go this weekend!!
I think your new book cover is awesome; in fact, it might be my fave of all of them. Fits the title perfectly.
Of course you can. If you need backup just call on the ninja's for inspiration. Fascinating movies and Ninja book launches. I'll be back for seconds!
I'm excited about the IWSG book coming out.
Your covers are so distinctive--you've definitely branded yourself.
Walter, I've been fortunate my publisher has created a great cover every time.
Medeia, thanks for the warning.
Avantika, thank you!
Sher, whatever it takes.
Liz, thanks!
Theresa, that's good to know.
Love the cover art Alex! It really draws your eye in. You just have to look at it.
Wow, April is going to be a busy month for you though. I know you've replied in the comments that you have to do the A to Z because you're a co-host, but can you really stretch yourself that thin? You could say you have too much on that year, which is true! But I know you are great at organising yourself. Don't wear yourself out though!
April seems far away, but I'm sure you must be excited for your new book. Congratulations.
That is some smokin' hot artwork. Dayum. Enjoy Interstellar. I plan on seeing it this evening.
Very cool cover art, Alex! Plus I think the title is really catchy.
I hadn't heard of The Extraterrestrial. And I've heard good things about The Babadook, too, but doubt we'll get it in my town. I'll likely have to hold out hope it gets stuck on Netflix at some point.
Congrats to all with new releases!
Love the cover and the ship!
The cover has a real punch to it... the red works perfectly. Congrats on your upcoming release... looks awesome:)
I love the cover-it looks amazing! How many Hot Tamales did you eat while going with the dragon theme?! Silly minds want to know?! lol
Alex you are a magician! I see amazing adventure with this new book-can't wait!
I'm insecure about all artistic endeavors-but I will still march onward and kick Ninja style those doubting doomsayers away~
I love that book cover, it looks awesome!
The guitar-shaped spaceship looks awesome! I think this cover is much better than you have at the previous books.
Rebecca, it will be a lot, but I will make it work.
Ella, at least fifty boxes!
Zoltan, thanks - think my publisher rocked it.
Badass cover, definitely the most dragonesque spaceship I've seen. Congrats. But don't say it's the last!!
Cool cover.
Food for thought(literally): Apparently the Food Network has a new show out.
Wait for it...Wait for it....
The Hungry Games.
Father Nature's Corner
I was gone Wednesday, so I'm late. Christopher had a hospital appt. Congratulations to everyone on their releases.
The cover looks great, Alex. The thing about your covers is they are very well done. And Dragon of the Stars is no exception. Looks great. During A to Z. YIKES! That will be crazy for you.
Your cover looks amazing! April's going to be a crazy month for you, but if anyone can handle it, it's the ninja. This is the first I've heard about the publishing guide, which I'm sure will help lots of beginning and established writers.
The dragon and ninja from Al are full on awesome!!
Good luck in the jousts next week.
My writer insecurities are too plentiful to even consider numbering at the moment, so I'll have to pass on that.
Well, Sir Alex, it looks like I have a mighty foe to challenge. I will meet you in the jousting ring on Monday!
Sir Mist
Can't wait to read Dragon -- and thanks for the signal boost, Alex!
The cover looks great and I'm sure you can survive it! Sorry to hear it's your last?!? I certainly hope not! Here's hoping it pulls you back in and you have more "last books" to come. =D
Great cover, well done.
How soon in advance do you write up your A to Z posts? Or is it the visiting everyone during that time that will cause the meltdown?
I'm sure you'll be fun. A Ninja like yourself. It'll breeze by.
Nick, we'll see.
GB - priceless!
Thanks, Robyn!
Michael, it will be awesome.
Ava, Al did an amazing job.
Milo, you're welcome!
Maggie, I'm not planning on more.
Ivy, I plan the main part months in advance, but with the Ninja News, I have to put that together the night before. The real meltdown comes from trying to visit 150 blogs every single day...
Wow. The Dragon of the Stars cover is amazing!! Very exciting :)
Love the book cover, will look great on the side of my blog.
mood
Keep up the good work! come follow me!
My blog: Make It Up or Funny!
Of course you can do it -- especially now that you have Al's amazing dragon to help!
That cover is so great.
Congratulations on the cover. Very nice, indeed!
You're writing another CassaStar book? Awesome!
Sorry for taking so long to drop by and see your cover for Dragon of the Stars. It's stunning!
Love the cover!
Dragon and ninja are really cool.
