Three New Books!
Pat Hatt just released three more Tarsier Man books.
Not one, not two – three!
Get the full scoop on all of them at his site.
Kotaku has noticed that about a month ago, Sony registered multiple domain names with the words "Bioshock" and "movie" in the URL. While this is far from a confirmation that the movie is back in development, it is definitely intriguing. Unlike specific domain names with subtitles, this clearly has the word "movie" which means we cannot misconstrue it as another video game or other type of project.
Director Colin Trevorrow, who takes over the franchise with the upcoming Jurassic World, told the print edition of Empire they’re already eyeing plans for more sequels to this semi-reboot of the franchise.
From The Epoch Times, a few words from director Gareth Edwards about the time and care that went into designing Godzilla:
He said creating Godzilla–one that appears fresh and original–took about a year. “Forget the giant monsters,” he told them. “If this really happened, it would be a life-changing experience. You have to take it seriously.”
“I grew up watching Spielberg movies,” he said, referring to director Steven Spielberg. “What they did so well — as well as having epic, fantastic spectacle — they made the characters feel real and human. We were trying to do the same thing here.”
Fan of Underworld? Following the talented Angela Brown? Picking up Pat’s books? Think we’ll ever see a Bioshock movie? Do you want more Jurassic World films? As excited as I am for Godzilla next month? And what do you remember best about 2003…?
I’m also at the Insecure Writer’s Support Group website today!
I'll see Jurassic World when it comes out. Once that's happened, I'll be able to decide whether I think more films is a good or bad thing.
2003 was a great year for me! I took a three week trip through Europe, seeing Italy,Austria Switzerland, and France. I also turned 18 that fall. I also got together with my first boyfriend. Yeah, I didn't date until I was 18, but it was only because people thought I was a loser.
I'm DYING to see Godzilla. My brothers and I would watch the old black and white versions. Go Mothra! I saw Return of the King 11 times with my kids in the theater that year. Yep, that's how we Rose's roll when we like a movie.
I hope your wife gives in soon and wears the outfit for you. But I have no idea where you could possibly buy it.
LOVED the original Underworld... Kate was SIZZLING!
FANTASTIC PREMISE. And I agree the others weren't as good as the original.
Angela is AWESOME!
Congrats to Pat!
Not to excited about the BIG LIZARD... but it could be cool...
LOVE the Do Not Call register, but here in Oz it doesn't go far enough. Political parties and charities can call regardless, and some of the most annoying companies just ignore the register.
Wow! I read your T post this morning on my phone, came back to comment and your U post is already up. It's that East Coast/West Coast think.
Taking care to make Godzilla more human - OK, I'll take their word for it.
I'm a big fan of the Underworld franchise. I like the look of the movies - dark and moody. And this may sound odd for my "horror-esque" tastes, but although I loved LoTR and Matrix - I adored Finding Nemo! <3
Congrats to Pat - 3 times!!
A new Jurassic franchise? Yes please! :)
I am almost completely unexcited for Godzilla.
Hi Alex .. the Underworld leaves me underwhelmed, but you'd expect that. Can't remember 2003 - rather appallingly .. but I have seen the new Italian Job .. but the first one always entices .. so British.
See you at IWSG .. cheers Hilary
I only watched The Italian Job. I somehow missed Underworld.
Good luck to Pat on this treble book launch, 2003 I moved to Ireland for a while happy memories there.
Good luck to Pat on this treble book launch, 2003 I moved to Ireland for a while happy memories there.
I had my hair cut just like Kate in Underworld but still didn't cut it.
Angela is one of my all-time favorite blogger friends.
You're right, the first Underworld movie is the best. I think all husbands would like to see their wives dressed in hot leather...
Angela Brown is one cool lady!
Underworld is one of my favourites.
Angela Brown is one cool lady!
Underworld is one of my favourites.
Liked Underworld and always ready to re-watch Kate Beckinsale... plus great fan of her dad Richard. Sad loss - watch Porridge for some of his best moments plus Ronnie Barker.
Even though Jackson had to work round the Scouring of the Shire, RotK was a great finale to LOTR saga.
Looking forward to Godzilla but wheelchair means waiting until out on Blueray.
I think most men want their wives to buy that outfit. My son's girlfriend wore it for Halloween last year. She rocked it! (Even as a blonde haha)
Thanks for reminding me I need to update the Do Not Call list. Been awhile. Like ten years.
Update: Six shows to go until I'm at the finale for Face Off. Again, thanks for giving me a reason to be a lump on the couch yesterday. Really, it was a migraine, but I blame you. It's what I do.
See you at the IWSG blog.
AJ's wHooligan in the A-Z Challenge
The Gruden Bowl. I lived in Florida at the time. ;)
And hurrah for P.Hatt books. We have a few in our library and on our Kindles.
Ha! I should've know Underworld would be your U :)
It was a great movie movie though, as was the sequel, both of which I own.
Congrats to Pat!
I think 2003 was when I got my current car. Writers lead such glamorous lives, don't they?
My hubs is SOOOO excited about Godzilla. I mean, like SERIOUSLY way too excited for a man who's had a triple bypass and two hip replacements. Le sigh. Yes, I'll go to the movie with him. LOL!
Underworld! Woot! That is definitely one of the movies that is in my "top fave" list. Kate worked her outfits perfectly and did the same with the weaponry.
Godzilla is still a question for me. I remember watching the original and hearing its roar...still both exciting and weird lol!!
And thank you for the shout out *blush* I'm touched.
What a great year for movies! Return of the King, Underworld AND let's not forget the School of Rock are all movies I would watch again. :)
I'm looking forward to your post at the IWSG site.
Kirsten @ A Scenic Route
I have a huge crush on Kate Beckinsale. Can't believe I have never seen Underworld. I think the thing I remember most about 2003 is that it was one of my favorite summers ever.
LG, that's sad! I don't think I really dated until I was that age either.
Leslie, that's a lot!!
Helena - online...
Michael, she was beyond hot.
Elephant, we get calls from those organizations as well.
Nothing wrong with that, Lexa.
Pinky, that made me chuckle.
Elsie, I told you it was an awesome show. Just so fascinating.
Sandra, that made me chuckle.
Kat, let him be excited.
Angela, you and the Chipmunk are welcome.
Underworld and Matrix on some of my fav movie series.
Hi Alex! Congratulations on making it to "U!"
Bioshock's such a trend now that there's bound to be a movie out about it. And I was a huge fan of Underworld--now there's a vampire/werewolf movie I can get into full swing!!
I'm happy to belong to the same writers group as Angela. I love the nickname she has for her daughter!
There's a new Godzilla? *out of touch*
Like Hilary, I am a fan of the first Italian Job, I didn't think the second one was nearly as good. I taped it years ago and still have it. I have the LOTR too. Elf I thought was a stupid movie. Like Finding Nemo.
I thought the cessation of the Concorde was such a shame, it was a brilliant plane.
As for the Do Not Call Registry, it worked at the beginning, seems to not be so effective now.
I really like Underworld and most of the sequels (the last one wasn't THAT great). Curious to see what they do next.
The Underworld movies are definitely a guilty pleasure.
My A to Z Challenge
$1.83?? The good 'ole days. :)
Fun Fact: My sister dated one of the producers of UNDERWORLD.
I do enjoy the Underworld series. One of the better works done in the vampire/werewolf genre.
The Underworld series is good, but I liked the Daywatch/Nightwatch/Twilightwatch Russian series much better. Yay for Angela! She's awesome. :)
2003 wasn't a great year for me, personally, but, it was a good year for movies :)
Damyanti, Co-host A to Z Challenge April 2014, My Latest post
One of these days I've got to watch Underworld. Not so sure what to think about a new Godzilla movie. The last one was pretty good. Congrats to Pat on the 3 book release and a wave to Angela.
A great year! Sorry I have been away-held prisoner by teens-lol!
Can't wait for Godzilla-I want to see it in 3D~
Off to visit the amazing Angela~
Hello Alex - better late than never!
Where have I been? I've never seen Underworld.
I can't keep up with Pat, he's so prolific with his writing. He' awesome, though.
I'm going to visit Angela.
I am eager to see Godzilla. Angela is a dear blog buddy. Now hopping over to the IWSG site to read your post.
I have already scheduled off that day for work, so I can sleep after seeing the Midnight showing!!
Keith, you have to watch it!!
River! How have you not heard of the new Godzilla film????
Liz, that's wild.
Christine, I didn't like it as much, but it was a really interesting take on the genre.
Ella, glad they let you out for some air.
Friends have told me I'd love Underworld, but I don't watch movies rated R so I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully I'll catch it edited on TV sometime.
I just watched The Italian Job again last week. Great movie. I think my husband looks just like Edward Norton so I like watching movies he's in...but he's such a tool in this one, lol.
Some good movies in 2003!
I'm curious to see what the new Godzilla will look like. :) This is one of those movies that clearly will continue into the future: like Bond, King Kong, etc.
I live in a cave? :)
Of course UNDERWORLD would be your movie of the day. :-)
Sometimes you can't recapture the magic of the first film.
My Stetson's off to Angela and her little chipmunk.
I really want to see GODZILLA -- from all I read and see, it looks like they did it right this time.
The thing that I love about Bioshock is that it's like playing a movie. So much detail went into the storyline, which I as a writer AND a gamer appreciate. If we get a movie, great. If not, that's okay too. I still love the game.
Also, I know your pain. I told my wife I'd love her to wear one of those incredibly busty wench costumes to the Renaissance Festival next time we go, but so far that's a no go. Maybe my problem is simply that I keep calling it "the wench costume." (Well, that IS its name...)
Angela is great! She is so bubbly!
I don't really care to see any more Jurassic movies. I didn't think the last couple were very good, though I loved the first one.
In 2003 we moved again from Philadelphia to New Hampshire.
Leather sticks. It's not bad getting it on, but taking it off might be difficult. Course, I'm not sure, having never worn that much leather. As for UnderWorld, loved it. It was a total surprise. The hero is a Canadian actor by the name of Scott Speedman. He went on to star in Felicity. He once starred in a Canadian film about a young man who has a party in his kitchen while his parents are out because they have a shag in the living room that his mother rakes. They're not allowed to walk on it. LOL. We had a shag when I was a kid. Weird thing.
I am a fan of Underworld, but wearing the outfit? I'm with your wife. :) :)
Love Pat Hatt bunches. He's talented.
I do want to see Godzilla-I watched all the campy movies even the one with Matthew Broderick so this , hopefully, will be good. I always hear men wanting their wives/girlfriends either wear the suit from Underworld or the outfit from Return of the Jedi:) Oh Alex-lol-2003-Ok wait for it....I separated from my husband that year. Hmmmm now on a great note we are still great friends and his family kept me in their loop too:)
I must have seen Matrix Reloaded at least 10 times in the theater that year. Too bad Revolutions was so lame. You're almost to the end of the alphabet. Wow.
David, I'll have to wait until release day.
Ilima, he was evil.
River, I hope it's a comfy cave.
Roland, I trust Godzilla's director.
Brandon, might need a better word then...
Joylene, that's funny.
Birgit, I'm determined to find a good year for you now.
Shell, I actually liked all the Matrix movies.
iTunes was a game changer for digital music, so that was a great year. I'm on the fence about Jurassic World because it'll be hard to capture the magic. Godzilla, however, is awesome.
Haven't seen Underworld. Will add it to my list since I think my better half will like it. 2003--for some reason, I don't remember this year very well if at all. Odd.
I love the Underworld movies, but as you say the first was the best!
Angela is great!
Godzilla looks so good, and I'm all for Jurassic World.
That's where I've heard that word. I think my kids play Bioshock:) I can't keep track of all their games! Loved Finding Nemo--the humor was epic.
Huge fan of the Matrix.
I think I've seen Underworld. I don't remember much about it probably because I had two little boys at the time:-)
It took me a while to discover the Underworld movies, but once I did, I really enjoyed them :-) (One of the many movies my husband introduced me to. I have to admit he has good movie taste ;-) )
PS -- What I remember best about 2003 is that I FINISHED SCHOOL THAT YEAR! Woohoooo!
I wonder how effective the do not call registry is. It seems marketers always find a way around barriers ...
Thanks for the shout. Sure if you buy that outfit you can convince her to wear it lol hopefully Jurassic world is good and they aren't getting ahead of themselves
Maurice, I am a confirmed iTunes junkie.
Jennifer, you'll have to ask them.
Rachel, good for you!
The next stage of movie evolution is upon us. Never could get into the Underworld movies. Vampires ... :)
jurassic world will be a fun return to the screen...X2, probably one of the grittier xmen movies....was cool though....
The travelers for Godzilla have been so confusing. I can't tell if its a monster movie or end of the world movie. Does Godzilla cause the end of the world or does the end of the world happen and then Godzilla emerges? So many questions. I guess the marketing is doing its job. Can't wait to see it. *I'm sure I could find out, but I try not to read specifics about anticipated movies until after I've seen them.
I did enjoy Underworld. 2003 seems so recent. Can't believe it's been that long. Wow.
I love Underworld and EVERY movie that followed it! Kate Beckinsale inspired my heroine for Hurricane Crimes. And I have to say she's my favorite vampire and kick-ass heroine to come around in a long time. Aside from Mila Jovovich from Resident Evil. ;)
Leather catsuits do not look comfortable, Alex. Not that I've worn one, just sayin'. Your wife likely has more elegant tastes.
I liked the first Matrix movie best. Good luck to those with book releases, and Angela with her little Chipmunk. How sweet.
Pat is on a roll, isn't he?
My husband wants me to wear a leather outfit, too, but like your wife, I said no way! ;)
I am a fan of the Underworld movies. Last year, I asked my brother what he wanted for his b-day. He said "Nothing. Unless you could gift wrap Kate B. for me" Needless to say, he is also a very big fan of the movies!
Heck yes, I'd love more Jurassic films!! I hope they happen!!
And thanks so much for your comment, Alex. I'd love to get in touch with that person about south america. You can get me at lizblocker at gmail. Thank you!!
It is crazy to think not long after frozen throne WoW came out. I spent many years playing that game.
I will for sure be seeing Godzilla opening night.
A Bioshock movie? Where do I sign up?
Brandon Ax: Writer's Storm
I love the Underworld movies, though my favourite is the third one, Rise of the Lycans, where we get to see how the feud between vampires and lycans started.
I love how Angela calls her daughter Chipmunk. So cute!! Angela rocks.
I loved Underworld! Funny enough I didn't actually see it until a few months back...I don't know why! Godzilla looks great too. :D
I think I will be checking out Godzilla!
I'll definitely hop over and visit Angela!
MORE Jurassic? Ugh. Seriously, I'm a HUGE fan of the original but after that they just, well, sucked. Not sure if I'll see the next one. They'll have to do something amazing. You know, like have a plot...
Very excited about Godzilla. The preview looks AMAZING!
Lots of good movies released in 2003, it seems! Love Finding Nemo and LOTR. And I am a fan of Underworld! Was pretty cool to interview the screenwriter for Underworld 4, too :)
Yay Angela and Chipmunk!!!
And if they're going for a Spielberg feel, then maybe I am excited about Godzilla. :)
I almost died in 2003, at the age of 23. I would've shared my Jahrzeit (death anniversary) with Groucho Marx and Blaise Pascal. My Southern Italian body type probably saved my life, since I had less distance to fall and more flesh to cushion the impact. I also believe my late uncle was watching over me, and the reason I escaped with relatively minor injuries (a broken leg, scrapes, bruises, gashes, and cuts, first- and second-degree burns) instead of something a lot more serious.
The Matrix wonderful, pure art! Beautiful work!
Pat, you're welcome!
Sydney, I think it's somewhere in between. World can't end though - they couldn't make a sequel then.
Chrys, that's cool!
Sherry, what would it take to convince you? Help me here!
Jaybird, I get Kate first.
Liz, I will!
Jen, the third wasn't great, but it is a guilty pleasure.
Nutschell, that is cool!
Carrie-Anne, I'm sorry! So glad you are still with us.
Underworld!!! That's one of my favoritest movies ever. =) The last one was pretty great too, but not as good as the first one.
2003... That's the fateful year I began writing a musical. Oh my goodness, that one decision has changed EVERYTHING. =)
True Heroes from A to Z
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was great! Finished it with my kids sitting by my side, making suggestions about what I should do each turn.
I wouldn't mind having more Jurassic films, assuming they spend more time with running away from giant meat eating dinosaurs. Let's face it. That's why everyone watches the movies. The raptors didn't do much for me.
have you been waiting the whole alphabet for this one?
i didn't know january was the movie dumping ground. i'd take January!
aww, chipmunk =)
we almost done!!!
I think I remember that when we lived in Colorado in the late 1990s, the gas price just went above $1.00, per gallon. Over here the gas price is currently about $2.5, per liter, which is about 1/4 gallon. The European countries are crazy when it comes to taxing gas
Cold As Heaven
Yeah, Underworld was really good. The sequels are all right but run together in my head.
I enjoyed Underworld. And LOTR, and Finding Nemo, and The Italian Job. But I think most of my time in 2003 was occupied by working two jobs and going to school. I didn't have much of a social life then...
Lots of classic movie brands here, it'll be interesting to see what emerges with Jurassic and Godzilla. I suspect we'll get an awesome roller coaster ride with lots of digital wizardry and SFX.
Been a while since you mentioned Kate Beckinsale on here. Clearly she's still you second favourite woman.
I'm leary about Juraissac anything without Speilberg calling the shots.
Finding Nemo remains one of my favorite animated films.
Be well, Alex.
We would love more Jurassic World films, if they can work in Sam Neill, Sir Attenburough, and ?? Dern? Jeff Goldblum.
My husband is excited about Godzilla. My migraines can't tolerate explosions and bright strobe lights.
I thought the Underworld movies were fun.
Hope the next Jurassic movie is better than the last one.
This is going to show how little I watch movies: I've never seen Underworld. There. I've said it.
I will see Jurassic World and I'm not sure how I feel about Godzilla. My children insist on watching Elf every Christmas. I wince every day when I read the gas prices from not so long ago.
Started watching Underworld but couldn't get into it. I'd love a Bioshock movie, but I know they would screw it up. Yes, I think a videogame would have a better story than a movie.
I enjoyed Underworld the first also. I did like the second one but haven't seen any of the others in the series. I loved and saw most of the other movies you mentioned , but especially liked LOTR, Finding Nemo and The Italian Job. I went on to find and rent the original Italian Job and it was fun too!
ken, you got it.
Tara, does it show?
Cold, that is just insane.
Moody, definitely second.
Melanie, feel better?
Nigel, most of Blizzard's games have better stories than movies today.
I would love another Jurassic World film. And Angela makes me happy just seeing her picture! Have to be a fan.
Yeah, I'd go for another Jurassic film. I love stuff like that.
Underworld! Still one of my favorite vampire series to this day.
Underworld! Still one of my favorite vampire series to this day.
Isn't Chipmunk the greatest name? Every morning on Facebook Angela sends a happy greeting to the world and usually she mentions Chipmunk. This always puts me in a good mood ... even on Mondays!
Some really great movies came out that year. I think it's funny that they made another Godzilla. I'm skeptical.
Play off the Page
What is better than Godzilla???!!! Another Godzilla!!!
Pat Hatt is amazing, isn't he?
Angela sounds cool.
I adore that movie The Italian Job. I could watch that all day long!
thanks for the awesome round up!
I always tell Jim I will dress up for him "on our somethingth anniversary". Tell your wife I suggested that--it usually works and Jim goes off happy, imagining the future. Is that so WRONG???
107 comments? How do you manage to respond to even half of them?
Oh well, I haven't seen the movie you mentioned, and I know I won't because I can't watch the vampire bite into somebody's neck. Too many nightmares. But I am but hop on over to Angela's blog, and I do visit that's blog daily.
Thanks again for the great little statistics on the year 2003. Interesting.
I've got to admit, I'm not looking forward to the upcoming movies. Some things just need to end/stop being remade.
I didn't realize the park had turned into a whole world. It's like I've been living under a Jurassic-aged rock.
Congrats to Pat and Yay for Angela!
That's a lot of fun movies in 2003!
Underworld is okay, but it's no Gone with the Wind.
What a great year for Angela!
Having a hard time getting excited about Godzilla. Done too many times. Though the last Godzilla has one of my favorite movie lines- when the guy pops the gum in his mouth and starts chewing and says it's so he "looks more American". I, of course, have to say that every time I pop in a stick of gum.
I love the Underworld movies. LOVE them. And I am excited for Godzilla, but wary at the same time, mostly because the beast has tripled in size over the years. Intrigued just the same!
Tim is a fan of Kate's.
Underworld is one of my top fav. movies... love it, and I can't wait to see Godzilla. I didn't know they were doing a sequel to Jurassic Park... awesome!!
You made my day about the possible Jurassic Park sequel, Alex. Thanks!
Gail visiting for AtoZ
God bless the Do Not Call list. It's faulty, but it's saved me many obnoxious spam calls.
I have very high hopes for Godzilla. I definitely plan to go see it. In fact, with Cap 2 and Raid 2 out of the way, it may be the last movie I see in a cinema this year.
My brain is "semi-fried" at this point, and I'm slightly behind with my visits.
Added to that is the fact that we have a long weekend, starting today - but I'm playing 3 gigs over this weekend...
Hopefully, I'll return to a "semblance of normality" by the time Monday arrives...
I've never seen a Godzilla movie - they just have never interested me.
Would love more Jurassic movies, but they'd better be as good as the first one and not as lame as the second two. I just can't STAND IT when characters, who are supposed to be scientists, do completely stupid things...Also not a fan of drawn out dramatic scenes. How long did that RV dangle off the side of the cliff? 45 minutes? Sigh.

I remember seeing the "Rush In Rio" concert on TV and my interest was piqued in this group that had previously been only of minor interest to me. I went out and got nearly all their CD's.
Godzilla? We'll see.

I remember loving Underworld. The sequel was good and I don't think I ever got a chance to see the 3rd one.

Here I go backtracking. Attention Alex, can you please send me one of your clones or a super fast computer. Thank you.
I'm a big fan of Underworld, as in the musical band. In fact, Underworld did the musical choreography at the London Summer Olympics.
Pat in the Hatt and his rhyming cat. Yes, his books are all the rage for those who miss Dr. Seuss.
And Angela is terrific and I follow her blog.
What more can they do with Jurassic Park?
I love blues rock! Gotta check out the Whitesnake album! And, hey, I wanna but a house for 86K!!!!!!!!
I like the original Underworld the best, but the series as a whole also is still decent.
