A to Z Challenge – Zombieland and Zooropa by U2, Ninja News, and Big Thanks

Last day of the Challenge – did you survive?

My theme for the A to Z Challenge is Favorite Movies, Bloggers, and Music! I’ll name a favorite movie that corresponds with the letter, and then select a character from the film. I will then name a favorite blogger who reminds me of that character, and then dedicate a song to him. (Also corresponding with the alphabet.) I’ll wrap it all up with trivia and/or fun facts about the movie, the blogger, or the music!

In addition, two lucky commenters this month will receive a review copy of CassaStorm! One comment per day and each is worth one entry except – the first and one hundredth comments on each day will receive ten entries! Winners will be announced May 6.

Zombieland

One word – hilarious. Two words – double tap! This film isn’t just funny, it’s very educational in learning how to survive a zombie apocalypse. Great performances from everyone, especially Harrelson as he searches for his Twinkies.

Little Rock is wise and crafty for her age. And yet her youthfulness shines through in her uninhibited joy and enthusiasm. All she really wants is to go play at that amusement park and she doesn’t want to do it alone.

Who is Little Rock?

Livia!

(Even though she doesn’t like horror films. And probably thinks I forgot her!)

Livia is young and full of enthusiasm. She’s a bundle of joy and energy that us older folks wish we could bottle as save for later. Livia throws herself into her passions one hundred percent, and that includes her devotion to her friends. It has been a total delight getting to know her.

Livia is a writer, movie buff, and resident cheerleader.

To you I dedicate Zooropa by U2. (Title leads to YouTube.)

Because it has a timeless feel to it, something your spirit possesses. “And I don’t know the limit…” (And because I’m sure dedicating T-Ride’s Zombies From Hell would’ve disturbed you, even if it did fit the movie. That’s all right, Livia – we still adore you!)

Trivia and Facts:

All of the characters in Zombieland were named after cities – name them! (I already gave you one answer.)

Y’s trivia answer – Rush formed in 1968.

Ninja News

Don’t forget the Insecure Writer’s Support Group tomorrow!

Don’t forget the Best/Worst Movie Remake Blogfest on May 17!
Hosted by me, Stephen Tremp, Livia Peterson, and Al Diaz.
When Hollywood runs out of ideas, they remake older films. Sometimes this works, and sometimes it fails miserably.
On May 17, list the best remake you’ve ever seen and the worst.
Added bonus – list the worst and/or best song remake you’ve ever heard!

Big Thanks to the Team!

Thanks to my fellow A to Z Hosts, Damyanti Biswas, Tina Downey, DL Hammons, Jeremy Hawkins, Shannon Lawrence Matthew MacNish Konstanz Silverbow, Stephen Tremp, Livia Peterson, L. Diane Wolfe, and Nicole.
Special thanks to founder Arlee Bird at Tossing It Out. Four years now and it’s still just as awesome! Thanks for your incredible vision.

A big thanks to my awesome Ninja Minions team, Al Diaz, Baygirl, Ciara Knight, Elise Fallson, Heather Gardner, JL Campbell, Joylene Nowell Butler, and Michelle. You helped me far more than you realize.

Special note to Father Dragon Al-

Good news and bad news!

No dwarves were harmed or killed while performing their minion duties. In fact, they have picked up many amazing Ninja skills. Even Pancholin is graceful and confident now.

However, they found the clone machine. I will be returning four times as many dwarves as were sent.

Oh, and they now want a cloning machine for the Dragon Cave. And a teleporter if possible.

Sorry. I think I spoiled them.

Good luck and thanks, Al!

Fan of Zombieland? Following Livia? Any U2 fans out there? Ready for the IWSG tomorrow? Signed up for the blogfest? And did you have a good time with the Challenge?

Big thanks to everyone who visited me this past month – you guys rock!

Zombieland was a very big suprise to me. I'm not a zombie or horror fan, and mostly I avoid these kind of films. But due to a workmate urge I watched it and enjoyed it... almost every minute of it. And the secret character was awesome.

I was just a reader of this A to Z challange, but I enjoyed very much. Wish I have time to participate next year... Maybe I also have to search after your cloning machine. :)

Congrats to Livia! She really is a fabulous cheerleader! Zombieland was a really strange movie, but I liked it's quirky quality. Thanks for being such an awesome A to Z host, and I really appreciate all of your visits. I'm still clueless as to how you do it all.

Zombieland is easily one of my favorite comedies. I hear they are coming out with a show.

I had a ton of fun reading the post can't wait to join in next time.

It just seemed like a day ago when I was putting together my post for Day A. Is it already the end of the month? Seriously?

Not sure how you and I can have such similar taste in music & completely opposite in movies. Yes, I'm ready for the IWSG & I'm signed up for the blogfest. No, I can't say I enjoyed The Challenge much this year, but I did meet some cool new friends. And who doesn't like U2?

Whew, boy I'm glad this is OVER!!!!!

Cassie Mae said...

Livia is the sweetest person in the world! And what a kickbutt character to connect her to. Zombieland is probably the only zombie movie I watch over and over. Though, I do watch Walking Dead, but that's only because of Daryl. If they kill him off I'm so not watching anymore.

Amazon have produced a bunch of tv pilots including one for Zombieland. You can check it out on their site.

Zombieland is hilarious, esp every psrt with Bill Murray. Love it!

I was a huge U2 fan growing up. Zooropa is one of those more forgotten albums, weren't they B sides to Achtung Baby? I loved that era of their sound and how much they reinvented from their 80s persona.

So in the end they did found the cloning machine. No wonder why I was having haunted dreams. What am I going to do with 600 dwarves, hmmm? Maybe I'll donate some to the Lonely Mountain Dragon Society. At least Pancholin won't have breakdowns again for talking to strangers.
It was my pleasure to work with you, Mr. Ninja Captain. :D Thanks for looking after my minions. Be Well!

Al Diaz said...

Oh! and a teleporter would be great. If you tell me where I can buy one, I will certainly appreciate. Of course it would be only for dragon's use, hahaha.

Zombieland is so awesome. I absolutely adore that movie. Livia is pretty cool, too :) I also love U2. Saw them live on the Joshua Tree Tour and also heard a live show in Eugene, OR from my house a few miles away from the stadium. Zombieland was filmed right down the road from where I live, literally! Not 7 miles from my house. Woody had fun on our university campus using the big lawn to play Frisbee, working out in their gym. Hey Alex - tried to send you email, but it bounced back twice. That was my bad on my blog. It's not Tim's birthday. It's just his favorite number, 27. Though he was born on the 27th.

Thanks for stopping by.

For some reason I couldn't get into reading blogs today.

Do think you should have kept the dwarves away from the modern technology. What will FD do with all those dwarves.

Thanks so much for co-hosting the blogfest.

Well done, Ninja Captain...the effort and thought you put into these posts had to have been Herculean, to say the least.

As always, it's a great place to visit and you always have the coolest stuff going.

I've heard of Zombieland but don't know anything about it except that, obviously, there are zombies in it. If it's funny then I'll check it out.

And yes, I did sign up for a blogfest recently, but I can't remember what it's about and when it starts! I am so hopeless.

Helena, if it was mine, you will get an email reminder.

Thank you, Maria!

Props for Livia! Glad to see she made your awesome A to Z list!

I have yet to see Zombieland in its entirety. Just in fragmented bits and pieces.

Fan of U@? of course. although not as much as I used to be. Just watched all three versions of Vertigo: MTV studio, live, and Apple commercial.

Thanks for the kind comment on my blog. I definitely need the encouragement after this crazy month/ Glad its over and ready to start May with a new vision!

Livia is a wonderful choice. Livia, congratulations on the accolade! I love the U2 song choice too...

What I'm most glad about is that I still have the IWSG to look forward to each month. Ahhh - all the new writing friends I may make. Joy!

Too bad the dwarves took the clone machine...I could use it to clone my real life self...so I can blog while she drives the carpool. Or does it only work for online cloning? Not sure what class it is...

I really enjoyed Zombieland particularly Woody and Bill Murray.

Funny fact for me regarding Rush...when I started listening to them there was another band out called Mahogany Rush. For the longest time I kept getting them confused as I thought my friends were just shortening the name (like Rolling Stones became just the Stones). Completely different music styles between the two bands though.

I've never seen Zombieland, but I've heard great things about it, so I think I'll Redbox it sometime soon. I had a great time following the blogs of the A to Zers...when I could ;)

Had a great time following along with yours!
