A to Z Challenge, I am featuring some awesome bloggers. These individuals have offered so much support of my book, CassaStar, and me on my blogger journey. Of course, I’ll be keeping up with the world of movies, music, and pop culture stuff as well! Ninjas are just talented that way...
Queen of Procrastination
Donea has a great sense of humor! I really doubt the dog in her icon is cuter than her. She posts some great photos and links, along with a mix of life. Check out her Find the Story Friday feature!
Matthew’s site focuses on query letters, and he’s done so much for other writers in this manner! Blogfests don’t scare him and he ventures into other areas as well. One day soon, Matthew’s book Warrior-Monks is going to rock the book world!
And this Ninja managed to sneak out for a movie...
Jesse Eisenberg voices Blu, a pet parrot suddenly dumped into an adventure in Rio with Jewel, voiced by Anne Hathaway.
This is a cute family film, and the most colorful animated movie I've ever seen. No exaggeration! There's nothing really original and the storyline is predictable. At its core, it's the tried and true romantic comedy. If you enjoy the formula, you'll enjoy this film.
A fun film with some amazing 3D effects, especially when the birds are flying over Rio. Good enjoyment for the whole family. Almost makes me want to visit Rio and join in the festivities of Carnaval.
Ya know; there's something nice about predictability . .
Kids will like it I guess. I can't watch 3d movies, they give me a headache, plus they're not very 3d. When will this lie be exposed!
Thanks for the review. Rio looks like a cute film. I might wait for the DVD though ;)
The toys at McD's have gone to the birds and now I know why. It's movie tie-in toys time again at the Golden Arches. Sigh. Not sure I'll catch this particular flick, but thanks for pointing it out to me.
Can't wait to see Rio but probably won't until it comes out to Red Box!
Alex, I thought "Rio" was more than just good... Saw it last night, and loved everything about it - the stunning colors, the amazing 3D effects, the fairly predictable, yet adventurous story, all those cute birdies, and last but not least, the clever and funny jokes. It deserves more credit than it gets. In my book, it's right up there with most Pixar films, and your personal favorite HTTYD :)
Donna, it worked for this film.
Jeffrey, I haven't stepped foot in a McDonald's in years!
Thanks for the links. I also can't wait to see Rio. It sounds like a fantastic movie.
I am so gonna see Rio over Easter!!! Yay!!
Woo-hoo for Mr McNish nee Rush nee QQQE nee Yoda!!!!!!
And yay for Donea too - lovely name!!!
Haven't seen that one yet, but will probably take the kidlings sooner or later.
Wooo, Matt! Awesomeness~
I also saw Rio & thought it was cute & very colorful. It appealed to me cause I have a Moluccan Cockatoo who I totally want to teach the 'blow it up' fist bump.. or is it claw/beak/fist bump?? Stop in & read The Quatrefoil Watch
Thanks for the review. I've been debating--bringing the kids to the movie or wait till the DVD. I'll have to see if the 2 1/2 yr old will sit. yikes.
Thanks Alex! You truly are a Captain Ninja.
Donea was my Q blogger of the day too. Rio looks like a cute flick.
Awesome bloggers you have listed. We saw Rio and thought it was pretty good. I don't think it can beat Nemo (my fav) but I did love the colors and must admit I laughed out loud a few times. Nothing like an over weight man in a gold leotard-bikini ready for Carnival.
Rio sounds cute but I'll wait for the DVD. Not many flicks will get me to go sit in a theater.
Both of these blogs are WONDERFUL! So nice of you to highlight them.
Wonderful as per usual.
This one appeals to me for some reason. thanks for the review.
I definitely want to see RIo
Predictability can definitely be a good thing sometimes. My kids are dying to see that movie.
Maybe I'll take the boys to that movie. I love colorful romantic comedies.
Just not up to another kid movie. I'm so glad the granddaughter doesn't read your blog.;(
Rio does look very colourful! I may need to view it when my skies are grey. Thanks for the review.
You come up with some funny movies to recommend Alex. I've never even heard of this one, but I do like Anne Hathaway.
My guys are either into extremely corny movies or major kick ass and take no names, type movies.
When my son was younger I was more up on animated films.
Cool and gracious way to do the A to Z thingy - shouting out good bloggers with the day's letter in their names. Thanks for the pointers. :)
Love your Q as it highlights other bloggers (you are official, of course, me not so much)...you are my Q today...er...another, of course...
And thank you for helping me to find many other fab bloggers to finish my (unofficial) challenge; as well as your honest review of Rio. Cute and predictable are not always a bad thing :)
Thanks again, Alex, for the feature!! And paired with the very cool Matthew - awesome!! :)
Great blog picks! The QQQE has been one of my favorites for a while now.
I went to watch RIO with mixed expectations, but came away pleased. Not thrilled, but it is hard to thrill me anymore
My significant other has been obsessed with playing the Rio edition of Angry Birds. We probably won't see the movie though...maybe when it's out on DVD.
I will not, will NOT, go see the movie version of Angry Birds (I'm still on level two!)
Hello, fellow A-Z Challenger! Here's my latest entry. Come visit either of my blogs when you can and leave some comment love:
Q is for Quintessential http://bit.ly/hR3Pbk
We saw Rio in 3D last weekend. Plot was indeed predictable, but it did not need to be anything else. because of the color and 3D effects. Very cool movie and one we'll take the kids to again.
Rio looks way better than that Johnny Depp lizard nightmare movie.
Thanks for the links! I'm excited to see that movie with my kids. I like a little color and I'm always in the mood for some romantic comedy :)
Nebular, it was cute, but I didn't laugh out loud once. I'm sure it's a thousand times better than Hop!
Kidlings - like that description, Vicki.
Christine, she'll be enthralled.
LA, it was a sight, that's for sure.
Tara, take them - you'll all enjoy it!
Sia, this one is probably not their style then. Tell them to go see Source Code or Hanna instead.
Thanks, San! Highlighting others was my theme from the very beginning.
Donea, you are welcome!
Damy, I'm a bit jaded as well. Feels like I've seen everything.
MJ and Sharlene, you crack me up!
Amazing post highlighting some amazing people. I haven't seen Rio, but I want to. Predictability is okay for me in movies.
I'll probably wait to see Rio when it's out on DVD but it does seem like a fun movie.
And Matt's site is awesome!
Love the Queen of Procrastination...
The movie looks cute...
Ack! I have so fallen behind on my blog recommendations! I need to get back to it!
And I ALWAYS want to go to Rio for Carnival! I sure wish we aged backward so I could make my money in an old frail body and then have youth to enjoy my retirement traveling...
I haven’t heard of Rio, I have heard of you Q bloggers though and whole-heartily approve.
My son really wants to see this movie. I'll enjoy watching it too. =)
Thanks for the review.
Poetry, Quotes and Book Reviews.
Elana, you'll enjoy it then!
Hart, that made me laugh! Naked women sounds appealing, but not if I have to be naked as well.
Tiger, you'll both enjoy.
Now following Matthew's site; thanks for the suggestion.
My 14 year old just saw it with a friend and loved it. I was surprised! He gave it a great review and I see you enjoyed it, too. :)
I thought Rio was predicatable but sweet!
Elizabeth, it's a fun movie. Just not earth-shattering.
I will go check out the blogs! Thanks
Q's were way better than my Ns. haha
It's great to hear that Rio is watchable. You never can be sure from the previews.
Hey Alex! I sent you an email. Sorry about the monkey wrench.....I have some duct tape, though. Just let me know.....
I have been told by my granddaughters that we are going to see this movie. Yes, we will go see it. Thanks for the thumbs-up.
Thanks for the review, Alex. I'll be taking my kiddies there this weekend.
So cute; I love to go see a cute flick once in awhile. I miss it; my kids want horror, scifi-good and comedy! Time to meet n' greet...I'm behind the 8 ball!
Both blogs are worthy and the film looks great. Problem is, my grandchildren are still to young to sit through a movie.
N. R. Williams, The Treasures of Carmelidrium.
You have the best posts, Alex. Haven't seen Rio, but you saying it's very colorful makes it tempting.
I don't know how you had time to go to Rio during this challenge. You deserve an actual trip there.
Words, I read it, and you are still my top choice!
Susan, it's fun!
Ella, go for the comedy - maybe that will appease all.
Helen, it is beyond colorful!
Robyn, I'll take it!
Maybe I can watch the Rio DVD with my granddaughter when it comes out.
Tossing It Out
Just came from Queen's blog. Now, Queensland and Rio - where else are you going to visit Alex? Rio is one vibrant place for sure.
