Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Plus Massive Book News

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. I encourage everyone to visit at least a dozen new blogs and leave a comment. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs.

My awesome co-hosts today are Mark Koopmans, Joylene Nowell Butler, Elsie, and Lisa Buie-Collard! Please stop by their sites and thank them for helping today.

Now that the insanity of the Challenge is over – I am working on my manuscript again! I’m in the final stretch and it was no effort to jump back in and continue with the story. Endings have always come first for me, so what I am about to write has played over in my head a hundred times. So I am eager to finish the first draft. Then editing, which will involve adding many new elements and twists. Good thing I really like the editing phase.

But I did write more than blog posts during April!

I was asked to contribute to audiomachine’s next project, an eighteen track movie soundtrack called Phenomena. There will be a free eBook available for download. With every purchase, audiomachine will make a donation to the LA Youth orchestra. My story will accompany a piece called Drakon's Empire.

What’s my story about? Well, it focuses on a young man by the name of Bassan…

Anyone else diving back into their writing this month? Picking up Phenomena? (You should see the list of authors contributing stories to the eBook!) Picking up any of the new releases? And what’s your writing insecurity today…?

And heads up – I will be out and about enjoying life this weekend, so you won’t see me around much. After last month, I hope I remember how…

And please, special prayers for Melissa Bradley. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday and they discovered a huge mass around her lymph nodes. The biopsy is today, so please keep her in your thoughts.

Sending prayers to Melissa. I didn't hear about that, I'm so sorry. Hugs to her.

Yes, I'm diving back into my WIPs and even starting a new one now that the Challenge is over. The Challenge really inspired me to keep my butt in my seat and be productive. I don't know what else I was doing but it wasn't writing. I hope that newfound drive I found stays!

The project you worked on sounds like a ton of fun. Right up your alley. Music and writing. I'm clicking on it after I post this comment. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I started reading Cassafire. Well done, Alex! I'm not a big sci-fi chick but I like it.

Thanks for letting me co-host today - you know I love it!!

So many intriguing books coming out. Yesterday's Swagger post mentioned Margo Kelly's new release about Internet stalking as well. I think it would be extremely helpful to work my plot backwards from the ending. I love that you can do that (as does Stephen King). Alas, I get an idea and then plod through it, not knowing how it's going to end, until it does. I'm in just as much suspense as anyone else.

I spent most of April with editing and polishing the first two books I'm releasing this year, though I did find a few days to get back to work on my WIP before switching back to my bigger priority. Hi Alex,

That's so nice to see all those co-hosts doing posts regarding "IWSG" aka "I Was Seeking Gary." You can be assured I shall be visiting them all, even the dude who wears a coconut bra and a grass skirt.

Can't even begin to tell you how glad I am that the A to Z has almost finished. Now for eleven months of reflection posts. HELP!

Dude, you do so much and I hope you find some time to just relax.

Once again, thanks for all the shared links to those marvellous people.

My thoughts to Melissa and that the biopsy gives the all clear.

Take good care, Alex.

Gary, be careful around that guy in the coconut bra. And I promise to relax this weekend.

Joy, you notice I'm not one of them, so don't feel bad.

I dove back into my writing last Saturday and am currently almost 57000 words deep. ^_^

I know what you mean about knowing the ending, though. A writer whose work I admire (Brian K. Vaughan) has said that he always knows how the story will end before he starts writing it, and I've found that to help a great deal when plotting. I have to know how it ends, or else I don't know where I'm going.

And while I don't know Melissa, I've seen too many people lost to cancer, so I hope everything went as well as it possibly could today.

Good to be back on your blog, Alex. I hope you enjoy your "down time." :)

Ninja Captain Alex! I can't believe you commented on my very first IWSG post on my new blog (second blog actually)! It's a very special one and you putting your 'mark' made it that much more special. You rock, Sir! Stevie King ain't got nothin' on you!!! Eva aka Lily aka Lilica aka What in the world is that woman's name?? :) Hugs to you always.

Congratulations on being part of Phenomena! I definitely want to check out your Drakon's Empire.

Interesting how you get the ending of your stories first and then write toward that. For me, it's the beginning and bits of pieces of the middle and the ending can surprise me.

Hurray for Hart Johnson's latest installment in her series!

And on a more somber note, my thoughts and prayers are with Melissa.

First, congratulations to you on being asked to contribute to the soundtrack project.

Bravo returning to your manuscript! I probably won't churn out any new writing this month, but I'll be diving into edits on an existing story scheduled for publication and hopefully revisiting an older one that has yet to find its home. I've been meaning to hop on board the IWSG for months now, by the way, and always manage to miss the first Wednesday! Bear with me...
