Working the Steps

Thanks for visiting Sharp Pen Dull Sword yesterday! Probably my most revealing interview so far. And yes, a guaranteed date every night rocks.

Today, I’m “working it” at RaShelle Workman’s site, A No. 2 Pencil Stat! RaShell’s an awesome lady. And she rocks, despite what her kids think!

And cheers for Clarissa at Listen to the Voices - she got a book deal!

Downloaded ESPN’s Sports Tap ap to my iPad recently. It provides updates on your favorite teams or sport. If a game’s in progress, it announces every new score, even if the device is off. You read that right! Freaked me out the first time I heard the ESPN jingle from my quiet iPad. Remind me not to follow basketball, as it would just chirp all night long.

I plan to catch RED this weekend. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll just watch How To Train Your Dragon again.

Anyone else catching a movie this weekend?

No cinema for me this week so I'll need to have a root through my unwatched dvds.

why do I have a feeling that Shells isn't decorating her basement for the kids but for your distinguished visit tomorrow? :)

Interesting interview over at Sharp Pen! I agree with you that what we have written before can be insanely weak. Yet those pieces are also the building blocks for what we write today.

Summer Frey said...

Yeah! We're going to see RED this afternoon!

Unknown said...

No, but I did watch the dragons movie you recommended and it was awesome!

Have a good weekend and THANK YOU SO MUCH for the mention!

Thank YOU, Yvonne!

Mary, thanks - hope you enjoy!

Ricky, I have a few of those as well.

Dezz, if they don't believe she rocks, then they don't deserve a party anyway!

Jeffrey, so true.

Clarissa, you're welcome and glad you enjoyed the dragon movie.

Big fan of that ESPN app. The one for the iphone makes a chime every time there is a score update. It's so cool.

You are blessed with a great support system for publicizing your book!

No movies this weekend, but will have dinner with family for my son's birthday.

Have a good weekend,

Hi Alex,

I read about your book coming on the blog Shoveling Jo in a Snowstorm. Thought I'd come over and check your blog out. Your stuff looks fun. I've been a fan of sci since being a kid. (That's what happens when you grow up with five brothers that all ended up being engineers.) Best of luck with Cassa Star. I'll look for it. I have a blog too if you want to check it out. It's idevourkidbooks.blogspot.com

I'm behind on your tour... hope it's going well!

And I AM going to a movie today! An older one... Despicable Me. Okay, so it's for a five-year-old's birthday party (friend of my son's) but seeing as my last three movies were cartoons, it won't seem any different! Good thing I like cartoons!

I really like How to Train Your Dragon. I'm thinking the kids are getting some of the books this year for Christmas.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Hi Lois! Welcome to my world.

Debbie, you'll love that movie. It's very original.

Helen Ginger said...

We watched Red last weekend and really liked it. (Never saw so many white-hair heads in a theater before, but that's okay - it was a happy crowd.) If you like the stars and like to feel good, I recommend it.

Good luck with your book tour! It's really nice when good things happen to good people. I'm curling up with LSU this afternoon...got my purple and gold drip at the ready...each weekend is SEC crazy (but love it!)

Hey Alex - My kids have totally decided I rock. Especially after they say how COOL the basement looked last night. Thanks for letting me do an interview. I had fun!!! You are RULING the blogosphere, Alex!!!

Hi Alex,
I received "THE BOOK" via Amazon today! I have been peeking at it; since it is Christmas gifts, I shouldn't. If I am careful I might just read my son's.

I rented "Prince of Persia" I am so behind in movie rentals; I think I am just going to watch them solo. Family seems engaged in football and other activities these days. I so want to see "How To Train Your Dragon"; My brother loves this movie and he is 43! lol

Have a great weekend~

Elizabeth Mueller said...

Hi, Alex! I do love movies. Hmmm, no, I'm not going to catch one out in the theatres, but here at home. How to Train Your Dragon is AWESOME!

I loved it so much that I bought one for my home theatre! <3

Have a great weekend, Alex!

(Do you play the electric guitar?)

Julie Musil said...

I'll pop over to read the interviews! And thanks for mentioning Clarissa's book deal. I didn't know this, so I'll head over there to congratulate her!

Tonight we're watching Prince of Persia via Netflix DVD. Enjoy your weekend!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Helen, I keep hearing it's a lot of fun.

Thanks, Liz. Not sure yet - weekend's busy at the moment.

Thanks, LTM!

Summer, hope you feel good enough to get out.

Thanks again, RaShelle! Glad your kids finally wised up, too.

Ellen, thank you!!! I appreciate that. And I really liked that movie and i'm older than your brother.

Elizabeth, yes! I have an electric guitar and two acoustic.

I hope you see Red - it's got quite lukewarm reviews here - something about all the big names sorta wasted to support Bruce!!!

I can't wait to read your take on it!! Take care
p.s YAY for Clarissa Draper too!!!!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Nebular, I just noticed that! And it looks like I'll miss Red yet again this weekend. However, NetFlix delivered today.

Golden, you've never seen it? I bet it's really showing its age now.

Kids went to the library and took out five Hannah Montana DVDs (insert un-enthusiastic Whoo Hoo). But as soon as they go to bed I'll watch Iron Man II. Hate to admit it, but I have yet to see the movie.

Both of those movies are on my to be watched list. Hopefully, before November 1!!!

I just finished your book! Bloody h***, I'm wrung completely out. I held my breath practically the whole way through.

I loved Byron and Bassa and Trindel. You had me totally hooked from the beginning and I was emotionally invested, too. Whew! What an amazing ride!

I'm tired now; I feel as if I fought all those battles with them. Bravo and well done!

I have two reviews of Aubrie's to post to Amazon and B & N tomorrow. I'll be posting them for you, too.

Congratulations! And I hope to be reading something new soon!

Remember, for new authors Kindle sales are more important for marketing than paperback sales. Keep your Kindle sale price competative. Also, don't leave everything to do up to your publisher.

Congratulations on publishing.

T'was a kick ass interview :)

I planned on taking my little sister to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice, but that plan kinda died so I've got no excuse to go :P

Will Burke said...

I buddied you on the NaNo site. No movie plans untill the H Potter comes out. If I wait 'till after NaNo, the lines will be shorter :)

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Stephen, I feel for you! Hope Iron Man II makes up for the torture.

Words Crafter, that's awesome! I'm thrilled I could take you on a ride. Thanks for posting a review on Amazon.

Walter, I have no control over the pricing and am doing all I can.

Jamie, go anyway! Heard it's dumb but fun.

Thanks, Will. Are you under your name so I can buddy you in return?

We didn't see a movie this week, we packed instead for the big move in two months... trust me we have no free time ahead... it's stressful.

Jemi, with my luck it would be a late-night game into overtime...

Jen, moving just sucks.

Even if the device is OFF? Holy dogpoop. That's like this battery-operated toy my kids had when they were toddlers that used to whirr and flash and chirp in the middle of the night. Totally weird. I kept thinking that someone had broken into the house.

Red looks fantastic. We bought the dragon movie this weekend. We'd kept missing it in the theaters.... Even the dollar theater messed us up with showtimes over and over. But the whole family finally showed up in one place and we plunked it down into the DVR. It was a gas. The dragons reminded me of the bugs from Bug's Life.
