Sci Fi Wire

I've already reviewed the iPad - time to show you some of its tricks!

Sci Fi Wire is an app available for the iPad, iTouch, and iPhone. (And probably soon for the Android.)

Here's the description on SyFy.com:

Stay up-to-date with the latest SCI FI Wire news, photo galleries and videos on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch wherever you go. The free SCI FI Wire Reader App connects you to the latest over EDGE, 3G or a WiFi connection.

Okay, but what does it do???

Streaming science fiction news:
This is how I found out that Frank Frazetta had died.

Images:
Most are in connection with a story.

Videos: Clips, interviews, and movie trailers.

Sci Fi Wire is THE news source for iPad owners. It's updated constantly. Even better - the app is FREE! Can't beat that price.

To see all the apps available on SyFy.com or go directly to the iTunes store for Sci Fi Wire
One app down - fifty more to go!

I wish I wasn't a poor writer when I read blogs such as this. Technology never ceases to amaze me.

One day. One day....

You know, the scary thing is I downloaded this very app to my iTouch this morning. That's spooky ...

It's a damn good app, I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into it :D

Wendy, one day you will have one!

Jamie, that is wild. You just knew it was a great app, didn't you?

Helen, I thought your husband had one?

Sci-Fi Wire is one of my favorite blogs. Is it really that much better on an iPad?

Information overload!! I don't know how much more this old mind can take. Give me some paper hard bound books and some basic computer stuff. All of this new technology is so cool and amazing, but it just keeps coming too fast for me to keep up with.

Man that looks cool! I'm very jealous.

Maurice, I've never explored the blog! I just like having the app right there - one touch and I have all the latest news.

Arlee, you better hang on to your hat then!

Dez, I'd like to see that, too. I'll have to find out if one is planned.

So cool. I want an iPad. Maybe in a couple months. We are no longer charging anything. Cash only. Thanks for the review.

Kate, thanks! It comes out in October.

Stephen, that must be challenging. I charge half of my purchased, but pay off the bill every month. Hate debt.

Very cool! I saw an iPad the other day. They scare me. Yes, I can't even use a phone the right way. Le sigh.

But this looks wicked-cool!

And thanks so much - I'm honored to be the only sci-fi geek you watch.

Thanks, Julie!

Elana, it IS wicked cool.

Miller, let us know when you get one! Then we can both post geeky iPad features.

Talli, glad I could taunt you!

I want the comic book app! That's the one that caught my eye.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Palindrome, there's several comic book apps. I have two at the moment, and it's incredible how interactive the programs are and how responsive.

Did you hear that the Wall Street Journal just confirmed that Google and Verizon are going to put out a tablet PC...it looks amazing! As a Droid owner...I'm so stoked.

Have you heard anything good or bad about this?

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Raquel, there's several new tablets in the works, and Google's will probably be the next big one. Haven't heard anything, but sure it will be comparable to the iPad.

Sadako said...

Hmmm...starting to get convinced...Noo...cannot give up paper books...ahhh.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Sadako, don't give up your paper books - just enjoy all the other iPad apps instead!
