Deadpool Review, Geekdom House, Six Strings, Ninja News, and the Great A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal!

I am visiting Christine Rains today and discussing newsletters.

Movie Review

Deadpool
I can understand why some might not like this movie.
It’s irreverent. It gleefully crosses the boundary of good taste, much like the show Family Guy does. It’s gory and quite dirty at times.
Having said all that, I thought it was a hoot!
The story itself is a fairly pedestrian origins story but told in a way you’ve never seen before. The film is self-aware that it’s just a movie, even to the point that Deadpool makes snarky comments about actor Ryan Reynolds and the other X-Men films. It completely breaks the fourth wall, resulting in some of the funniest lines. (Example – Deadpool tells two X-Men ‘This giant house and there’s only two of you? It’s like the studio couldn’t afford any more X-Men.’)
Bottom line, if you found something appealing in the trailer, you’ll dig this film.
Rated R for a reason, this movie is for the grown up twelve-year-old in all of us.
Highly recommended!

While I Was Away…

Yes, my wife and I had a great time! Everyone should take a first class vacation at least once a year. Maybe more.

And of course, at my wife’s insistence, Mini-Alex tagged along.

I submitted an article to Geekdom House and it appeared on their site last Monday. Read Finding Child-Like Wonder and why Star Wars: The Force Awakens had it and Jurassic World didn’t.

The latest Six Strings magazine is out and it features an interview with yours truly. You can download it for free on the site or at Amazon.

The Great A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal!

Sign-ups for the 2016 A to Z Blogging Challenge are already under way. If you have done it before, you know how much fun it is (good for you!) and if you have not, this is your chance to give it a try. You can sign up to participate HERE.

One of the most burning questions participants ask themselves every year is: "Should I have a theme?" Themes are not mandatory, but definitely fun. They let your visitors know what to expect, and help you create posts that line neatly up from A to Z. They also have an added bonus – they let you participate in a whole separate blogfest!

Three years ago, A to Z participant Mina Lobo started the Theme Reveal, and we thought it was such a great idea that we made it tradition.

Here is how the Theme Reveal Blogfest works:

Sign up on the Linky List below. On Monday, March 21, reveal your theme on your blog and give us a hint of what to expect from it. Then, once your post is up, use the Linky List to visit all the other blogs announcing their themes.

This is a great opportunity for all of you to get a jump start on your A to Z experience. You can link up with fellow bloggers, scout out and bookmark themes that you look forward to, and lure in wandering participants with your awesome theme. This way, by the time the frenzied posting begins on April 1, you will already have an audience eagerly awaiting your posts.

Sign up below, ready your theme, and put March 21 on your calendar!

Miss me? Anyone else see Deadpool? Excited about the IWSG anthology? Can you help Sia? Ready to make a map? And are you signing up for the Great A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal?

Don’t forget to visit Christine Rains.
And if you have time, read my article at Geekdom House and my interview in Six Strings!

  1. Although I'm not rushing to see Deadpool at the cinema (more because getting to the cinema is such a nuisance these days), it's reviews like yours that make me excited for its home video release.

I'm not a fan of the character in comics, but I have a strong suspicion I'm really going to like the film when I finally get to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Deadpool is getting excellent reviews. But seriously how can you go wrong with the delicious Ryan Reynolds? So you never told us where you went for your romantic vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Of course we missed you :). As for Deadpool, Sarah really wanted to see it but it came out only a few days before she left for her year overseas, and she couldn't work it in. She is hoping to see it in Argentina, with subtitles. I am signed up for the great reveal, and hope to have most of my posts done by then.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Maybe I'll have to be the only one who doesn't want to see it. Sorry.

Glad you had a good vacation. And great post at Christina's.

    ReplyDelete
  5. We left the light on for ya. Welcome back;) Glad you and Mrs. Alex had a great vaca. How fun that she always takes Mini-Alex:)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Glad you and your wife had a first class vacay, Alex. I take one often! Deadpool doesn't interest me. I like my movies clean, romantic and funny!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Glad you and your wife had a wonderful vacation :)

As for that theme reveal blogfest...as you noticed I read the rules wrong and jumped the gun and posted my theme reveal today. A whole month early. *head slap*

    ReplyDelete
  8. Vacations are awesome! It's easy to forget how vital they are to our well being. Glad you liked Deadpool. I haven't seen it yet, but plan too.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Tim, you will! I've never read the comic but on screen, the character is a hoot.

Deb, as my wife said, we went someplace warm...

Rhonda, glad you're joining us for the reveal.

    Sandra, she insists!

Marcy, no worries. The original badge we made had the wrong date as well!

  10. I just read your article, Alex, and I enjoyed it! I still look for a sense of wonder when I read, but only a couple of authors can consistently manage it for me. I didn't see Jurassic World, but I agree TFA does have that sense of wonder. Hopefully Episode VIII retains it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You're everywhere right now! Cool. :) I'll check out the articles.

I'm sure Deadpool isn't for me, but I'm reading some good press on it!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm looking forward to seeing Deadpool one of these days. It looks like fun.

Glad you had a great vacation!

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's lovely hosting you today, Alex! :) My husband and I LOVED the Deadpool movie. It's exactly what I expected and then some. Heading over to Geekdom House! Have a great week.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You were missed! Glad you and your wife had a great vacation. It makes me want to go on one now, too. :)

Already visited Christine's blog - enjoyed the guest post!

  15. If Deadpool didn't cross the boundaries of good taste, it wouldn't be Deadpool. Congratulations on the Geekdom House article, and I'm glad you and your wife had a great vacation!

    ReplyDelete
  16. My oldest sister is dragging me along to see Deadpool. I'm not really sure about this one. Glad you had a great holiday. Congratulations on your new published article.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Deadpool was great. Loved how he made fun of the 2 x-men and how he was confused over which Xavier actor was there. 1st class huh? Can't go wrong with all the bells and whistles.

    ReplyDelete
  18. good to have you back, and it sounds like a wonderful vacation! It's criminal how long it's been since I've had a vacation, so I might have to take one in my future. Can't wait to check out your post on newsletters. I just started one up and am preparing to send the first one out. They seem to be a big deal now! Ah, the simple days where all we needed was a blog lol. Can't wait for all the A-Z themes. I won't be participating again (boo me) but I love reading everyone's blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Loved your article, Alex! You got it exactly right.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Are you sure you had a holiday, Alex? So much going on. I am in awe! My other half went to see Deadpool and thought it was a lot of fun. But then he added that it's not my type of film :)

    Have a great week.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sandra, thanks for reading!

Christine, thanks for having me! And Deadpool was even better than I thought.

    LG, very true!

    Murees, just be prepared...

Pat, it was those touches in the film that made it awesome.

Beth, you need to take one! And as usual, sorry I couldn't comment on your blog.

    Thanks, Dianne!

Nicola, you were wise to skip it then.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, I will help Sia. God bless her!

Glad your trip was great. We all need vacations.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yay for having a fun vacation. Looks like mini-Alex had fun, too. Congrats on your Geekdom House article and interview in Six Strings. You're all over the place today :) Still considering A-Z. If my April is as crazy as my last week, I'm not sure I can do it, but we'll see...

    ReplyDelete
  24. seems like deadpool is getting near universal love.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I do not normally cared for raunchy and violent movies--rarely! I loved Deadpool. I left the theater feeling good and smiling and rating wise it was a rough movie.

I LMAO and truly enjoyed the movie.

What an excellent job Ryan Reynolds did of selling the black comedy like slap stick humor--(violence couple with extreme raunchy). He and his co-star totally sold it and captured my empathy, which carried me through the movie laughing. I had a great time.

I read that it beat SW opening day and that is quite an accomplished if those statistics are right.

I'm still thinking about the A-Z. Committing to post everyday for all of April scares me and doing theme, the thought, makes my eyes bug out--but I am thinking about it still.

    Happy Writing,
    Juneta @ Writer's Gambit

  26. I can't wait to see Deadpool. It sounds really good. This is the earliest I've had my theme figured out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Glad you had a great vacation! I'm still on the fence with A to Z. I have to decide about that soon. Congrats on your articles! I'm off to read about newsletters. Happy Monday!

  28. I think I can miss Deadpool real easy... Inkarnate looks really interesting. I've been drawing maps of imaginary places since I was a kid.

Glad you had a nice time off with your wife and Mini-Alex!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I doubt that I'll be seeing Dead Pool, especially from the way you describe it. I'm really growing weary of excessive profanity in films--it seems like these days funny is equated with using dirty words. It's really immature and regressive to our society.

I somehow didn't realize the Theme Reveal sign-up time was already hear. Time is speeding by quicker than I can keep up.

I better start planning our vacation soon since that will be upon us before I realize it. It looks like we'll do another couple month vacation trip this summer. Now to figure exactly what route we'll be taking.

  30. Happy you had a wonderful vacation.

    I thought Deadpool was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree. You must take at least one major trip a year. It's so revitalizing. Not that you need revitalizing! I didn't know about Sia. So glad you're spreading the word.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Completely agree about first class vacations once a year or more frequently. So glad to hear you had a good break. Welcome back!

    ReplyDelete
  33. "It’s irreverent. It gleefully crosses the boundary of good taste, much like the show Family Guy does. It’s gory and quite dirty at times."
Sounds like my kind of movie.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am so happy that you had a great vacation and that Mini Alex did as well:) I want to see Deadpool because it looks like fun and those references to making this movie reminds me of the Road Trips with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. I will be signing up for the reveal and am still working on my challenge. I will check out and visit the other sites as well

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lots of goodness here. Deadpool does look like a funny movie with great action.

Glad you had a great vacation!

    ReplyDelete
  36. A friend of mine who has children was aggravated with people who brought their kids to see Deadpool. A lot of dad's would have their hands over their children's eyes according to what he said. I'm glad to know it was a good flick. Sometimes sex and violence substitutes for story. I doubt I ever watch it. I am a comedy, chick flick kind of person.

Vacation sounds good. A break makes you a better worker and certainly is good for the soul.

When I check the "I'm not a robot" box, I think. Alex would love a sentient robot.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm doing Camp NaNo in April, so I won't be doing A to Z. I keep thinking I'll do it again. Maybe when I retire ...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've heard great things about Deadpool. It sounds like my kind of movie.
I missed you, Alex, and I'm glad you had a great time with your wife and Mini-Alex.
    Happy new week.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ray and I loved Deadpool - snarky is my kind of hunor. From the opening credits to the very very very end - we laughed. Glad you and your wife (and mini-Alex) could get away and live it up a bit. Good for the soul.
I signed up for theme reveal and ready to roll. Welcome back - ease into the week slowly - don't bust the karma. Have a good one

    ReplyDelete
  40. Glad you had such a great vacation. And happy for Mini-Alex that he got to come along. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Glad to hear you had a great vacation. Cool that mini-Alex tagged along too.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I loved Deadpool and am so glad it is doing well.

I really need a vacation, we were supposed to do one this summer.

I am still deciding on the A-Z. I don't want to commit if I can't follow through.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I also loved Deadpool! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. It was indeed a hoot.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You're all over the place with articles/interviews...congrats! I've heard tons of praise for Deadpool but haven't gotten to it. My son will probably beat me. All the best to Sia! And glad you enjoyed your vacation, and mini-Alex too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Congratulations! We all need the child-like wonder. Great job.

    ReplyDelete
  46. A to Z is coming around again? Sheesh. Boy does a year go by fast. Themes (I think) are a great way to focus all those blogging energies. So glad you had a great vacation, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Your review of Deadpool has convinced me to go see it. I agree that it's good to have a theme with A to Z, it's just a matter of finding one that motivates me.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Deadpool looks like a fun movie, and I'm glad you had a great vacation!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was hoping Deadpool was a funny as its trailer. Congrats on your articles being published. Looking forward to reading about all the themes for the challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't know about you and your wife, but Mini-Alex looks like he had a good time on your vacation! :-) I will eventually see DEADPOOL, but life as a rare blood courier makes it so hard for me to watch a movie these days of increased calls. You know there are more participants in A to Z than citizens in some 3rd world countries!

    ReplyDelete
  51. The wife and I are looking forward to seeing Deadpool tomorrow and are very excited for it. This is actually her second time seeing it (yeah, the first time she saw it without me, wtf right?).

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first class vacation, you lucky dog! At this point, I'd settle for second class in a third world country.

  52. Read both Geekdom house and Christine guest posts and loved them. Left an extra long comment on Geekdom House with my own thoughts on magic vs. realism. Still need to see Deadpool but I love the positive word of mouth. Of course Mini-Alex got to tag along, his fans are everywhere. Congrats with the anthology and I already read Loni's post and have that site saved to start on my own maps in the near future. My condolences to Sia and thanks for the reminder of the A-Z theme sign up Alex. Have a great day.

  53. Shell, hope you can join us.

Charles, I can't believe how much money it's made.

Juneta, I left with a big smile as well. Deadpool is now the biggest February opening ever. Hope you can join us for the Challenge.

    Lori, join the chaos!

Lee, you do like your long road trips.

    Al, it is!

Ann, I would! And no kid should see that film. It's R for a reason.

Joanne, I'm all over the snark!

Brandon, hope you can join us.

Cindy, I did it once without a theme. Never again.

Roland, that's true - we have over eight hundred signed up now.

Brandon and Bryan, that's just wrong! But glad she wants to see it again.

Sheena-kay, I need to get Mini-Alex some shades so he can hide from his fans...

  54. Glad you had a good time on your trip! Getting away can be so refreshing. Will see if I can't check out your guest spots.

  56. I can't wait to se Deadpool - I'm hopefully going on Wednesday. Everyone I know that's seen it says it's great. Glad you had a good time on holiday! I've just signed up for the theme reveal :) - now to actually decide on my theme...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah, not sure if I'm ready for that movie yet. Glad you and your wife had a great trip though! :)

  58. Hubby and I saw Deadpool this past weekend and I loved it. I read the comics when I was younger and the movie was just like the comics.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was surprised when my wife informed me she wanted to see Deadpool. We haven't yet, but plan on seeing it soon.

  61. You must have gone somewhere REALLY nice for your vacation, from the look of that tree! I haven't seen Deadpool, but it sounds like I wouldn't connect with it, since I haven't even seen an X-Men movie. All signed up for the theme review early this morning. Mine's already written and ready to go--just have to write all the posts. That's how I'll be spending March!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Of course you were missed. Traffic in the blogosphere slowed down appreciably.
Love that you had a good vacation.
And your article. I long for magic. Often. My inner child is frequently my healthiest and happiest part.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Glad you and your wife had a good time! It's good to get away and recharge every once in a while. And I can't wait to see Deadpool. It looks so amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  64. So pleased Mini Alex had a holiday also.
    Just signed up for themes.
    Yvonne.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Loved Deadpool. I live with a potty mouth, so the crude humor didn't offend me.

Off to send a little something to Sia, if only to let her know I'm thinking of her.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I enjoyed your movie comparisons at Geekdom House, Alex. It was great to see Jurassic World and reflect upon fun experiences. I've finally done it - all signed up for A to Z blogfest.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Going to buy a copy of the anthology, cause it sounds so good. I'll get the magazine too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've heard from others not to see DeadPool. Congratulations on the magazine coming out. I can't believe you are already getting ready for A-Z....I'm not going to sign up, but I'm going to be hopping around reading posts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Welcome back. I'll check out your links. This is the first time I've heard of DeadPool.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Glad you had a good vacation! Mini Alex looks like he had fun. I really enjoyed your article about child-like wonder and your point about making a connection.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Congrats on the article and the interview. From what I heard, Deadpool is for the 12-year-old boy, so I'm giving it a pass. Although, I'll probably try to catch it when it ends up on HBO (or whichever channel gets it).

Glad you had a great vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Glad you had a nice vacation! I still haven't decided on a theme yet, but I signed up anyway. If I don't figure it out by March 21 then I think I'll have bigger problems to worry about...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Dude, welcome back! Although, I'm rather pleased when you take a break from blogging because even you and your clones deserve a bit of a break. Hope you and your good lady enjoyed your first class holiday.

Duly noted about Sia and I shall check out the link. Sia is one of the nicest people I've had the fortune to interact with.

Ah yes, once again, I skilfully avoid any mention of that bizarre obsession with the alphabet!

    All the best, good sir.

  74. Define "first class" vacation.

You missed my review of Deadpool.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Welcome back! Glad you had a nice time!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Of course I missed you, Alex! You and your wife deserved a first class vacation (mine are always second class, but one of these days...).

I've saved the link to your geekdom article because I really want to read it, but it's late right now and I've got to work in the a.m.

  77. Deadpool is making a big splash here in Spain.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Still haven't finalised my A to Z Theme. *aaaargh*

    ReplyDelete
  79. Welcome back, Alex! You were definitely missed. Glad it was a good vacation - have to say I agree with your wife.

I've definitely signed up for the theme reveal. Thanks for letting me know about it.

I'm very sad to hear about Sia. I haven't "met" her yet, but my heart goes out to her and her family.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi Alex - so pleased you and your wife had that wonderful time - it's essential to take a break - and good to see Mini Alex around to take care of you both!

Deadpool - no thanks .. A-Z signed up, theme known .. now the posts.

I feel so much for Sia - the family have had a rough time over the years ... thanks for letting us know -

Glad to see you back - bouncing around the blogosphere .. cheers Hilary

  81. Good Morning and welcome back from your first class vacation. Mini Alex seems to be enjoying the tropical greenery. I will have to check out your featured article. I probably will not be going to see the Deadpool but, I did hear it did extremely well at the box office.

I wonder what a first class vacation would be like? So glad you were able to get a way.

May the gateway always be open to possibilities.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Your comment about Sia made me realize (again) how blogging is social media and can be used for such good. Thanks for including it, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Since I adore Ryan Reynolds, I'll see the movie. I've been informed of the snark.

I'm so tempted to join in the A to Z Challenge, but I promised myself a break. And so far I'm going to stick with my decision and haunt all the other bloggers!

A mini vacation sounds great!! I can only dream it... I'm glad you have a wonderful time!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Haven't seen Deadpool, but also heard great things about it. Looking to a first class vacation coming up with my lovely bride this summer (at least if not two vacations.) Passing an A-Z challenge this year. I can barely keep my blog posting at once in a while lately.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Have signed up for both the A to Z Challenge and for the Reveal. Trying a different type of theme this year...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Cool that you're interviewed in Six Strings. Hubby has told me I will definitely be seeing Deadpool - he's seen it, and thinks I'll love it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Alex,
I saw Deadpool the day after it came out and loved it. I was worried i wouldn't because I'm not a big fan of 'stupid humor' but I found I really enjoyed the movie mainly because it had fantastic acting, a good plot, and fun lines...I love the breaking 4th walls and such and I will never be able to see anyone but Ryan Renolds play Deadpool now.
I also highly recommend this movie- adults of course-

I'm still on the fence for A-Z...I might pass this year, it will only be the second year I've missed it, but I'll be out of town for part of April and then might be having surgery so it's up in the air- I'll see how the next couple weeks play out and make a final decision then.
    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yay for vacations! I'll be playing the theme game this year. Thank you for lending your name to our quirky soldier in the WEP Valentines Tim Burtonesque story:) It was a hoot casting friends as characters--may have to do that again!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Deadpool does not sound like my kind of movie. I'm more the "A Walk in the Woods" with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte type -- maybe because I'm getting old(er)?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Rachel, enjoy!

Patricia, good to know they stayed true to the source.

    Stephanie, I'm almost done.

Spacerguy, I saw that this morning - awesome!

    Thanks, Jenni!

    Gary, Sia is a sweetheart.

Andrew - we spent the big bucks and cut no corners.

    Helena, that's all right.

    Truedessa, they feel awesome!

Cathrina, you'll be the A to Z ghost.

    Dean, go and enjoy!

Kane, sorry about the surgery. Might be a good time to sit out. And Deadpool handled everything brilliantly.

    Samantha, you should!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Deadpool was so fantastic. I was very happy leaving that film and you know how Marvel has those clips at the end? Yes, we totally called the clip for Deadpool. Ah, hahaha :) Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks for the link to the map making site - very cool!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Congrats on Six Strings, Alex. That is so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Alex, I adore your wife, and I've never met her. Just from what you say about her on here. The fact that Mini Alex was invited on your trip. That woman is JUST SO COOL!

Glad you had a safe trip. I want to go to Ireland. Hubby is afraid to go that far on a plane. :( Our passports are lonely.

I will visit Inkarnate. Sounds great.

I will also try to help Sia. It won't be much. But like you said, any amount will help.

    ReplyDelete
  94. To each his own, I guess. I didn't much care for Revenant, yet my husband liked it very much. Not as much as Jeremiah Johnson. Revenant had absolutely no light moments at all. Deadpool is off my list. LOL. I love your movie reviews, Alex. You should think about doing an alphabet listing. When I'm looking for a movie to watch on Netflix, I'd check your reviews first; it would save me a lot of extra work.

    ReplyDelete
  95. deadpool - one of those movies i have to be in the mood for but hubs can watch any time (like other things...)
glad you two enjoyed your getaway!
and are you a regular writer for geekdom house? i liked submitting to them, i may try again!
congrats on the interview, and i'll go to christine's now!

  96. Your review makes me actually want to see Deadpool. It was really hard to tell if it was funny or not from the previews.

Glad you had such a great time while you were away! Vacation sounds like fun. :)

  97. You're very busy so it's a good thing your wife makes you take a vacation! Thanks for all the news, Alex. I'm a bit out of the blogging loop these days so it's nice that I can come here to find out what's what.

Congrats on your article and interview. I'll go check them out.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Totally agree with you concerning Star Wars and Jurassic Park. Now I am off to read your interview in Six Strings!
Glad you had a good vacation!

  99. So glad you enjoyed your vacation!
I doubt I'll see Deadpool unless one of the boys brings it home.
I will check out the funding site for Sia, such a worry - money - when your life is at stake!
    L. G. signed us to the A to Z for Parallels and I added my blog to the list. I actually have all my post scheduled. Sometimes I surprise myself!

  100. I'd love to make some maps, but I'm not sure if that site is for making real-world maps. It's so invaluable to have a map in the front of a book to show where exactly it all takes place.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation.

  101. Glad you had a great time. You're lucky to afford a first-class vacation every year. Congrats on your article!

  102. You are like incredibly famous!
    Your name is everywhere!
    Good for you.

Hi Alex! Welcome back from vacation!

Haven't seen Deadpool yet, but hopefully when it comes out on the Blu-Ray!

I have so many virtual places to visit now, thank to you!

  103. As you might expect, I probably won't see the Deadpool movie. Never really knew him as a character. I'm more a DC than Marvel guy.
Glad you had a great vacation. I need one of those!!!!
I'd love to go overseas this year. But we'll see if that happens.

  104. Look at that list! Incredible. And I agree about the whole vacation thing--my husband and I just got back from a cruise--first vacation alone together in years, but I think we've seen the light. Already looking to book our next one. :)

  107. See, I totally missed that you were going on vacation. (Must have been reading too fast.) I hope you had an epic time!

See, I like superhero movies, but when they get too "adult," I think they lose something. Deadpool isn't one we'll ever see, but I'm glad other people are able to enjoy it.

  108. Missed you last week! I'm glad you had a great vacation and enjoyed Deadpool. My hubs and I weren't sure so we stepped into Hail, Caesar! instead of Deadpool for Valentine's Day and . . . it was interesting, funny, thought-provoking, and odd like any good Coen Brother's movie. We'll catch Deadpool eventually.

I'm super excited for the IWSG anthology, and will definitely check out that Map site that Loni found - that's awesome! I can't draw at all and people keep asking me for maps for my fantasy writing - hahaha - they really don't want to see my chicken scratches.

Will help, Sia, too, and check out your articles!

  109. Madilyn, was that not a cool clip at the end?

    Robyn, she is rather cool.

Joylene, I might be able to do that.

Tara, twice now! Not really regular. It's a lot of pressure.

    Jess, it's hilarious.

Yolanda, very cool!!! Glad you guys are on board for the Challenge.

Heather, I am here to help!

Jeffry, so am I, but I'm really glad I saw the film.

    Melanie, awesome!

  110. Glad you had a nice vacation. Haven't seen Deadpool yet, but I'm looking forward to it. The A-Z Challenge looks like it's growing and should be lots of fun. Heading over to check out your guest articles now; childlike wonder sounds like it's going to be a good one.

  111. Glad Mini-Alex -- and you -- had a great vacation :-)
Ooh, the theme reveal. Hmm. I'd better add it to my list of blog ideas and plans... I might stick to my Wednesday posting, though...

  112. Seems like everyone is really liking Deadpool- though for sure not to watch when the kidlet is around, lol! Congrats on your features, that's great!

  113. My husband took me out on a date to see Deadpool. . . I loved it! Some parts were not my cup of tea but all in all, hilarious! Blessings my friend!

  116. We will soon see Deadpool! Saw the trailers, love Ryan Reynolds. Need to laugh and groan at the same time.

  117. A first-class vacation every year would be wonderful! I've only taken a couple really grand vacations, and they were excellent :) I haven't read your article yet, but child-like wonder is a great description for The Force Awakens. I'm looking forward to reading the anthology and the A to Z Challenge and Theme Reveal!

  118. Missed you, Alex. Glad that you had a lovely vacation, you deserved and needed it (you work too hard, Super Alex). Will check out the Inkarnate site, it looks cool.Love the cover and title of the book 'To Get A Guy To Kiss You!' by Jessica McKendry. Will add it to my TBR list.

  119. Check you out getting your writing and interviews on sites across the web! I loved your article, totally agree with you, and left a comment. I'm glad you had a great vacay and thanks for the heads up about Deadpool. Since I laughed at the quote you included, I think I'll love the movie!

Congrats to Jessica on her new release!

  121. I'm so looking forward to watching Deadpool! I'm glad you enjoyed it . . . I mean, who goes to watch that and expect anything less than dirty and inappropriate? lol

So glad you enjoyed your vacation! I'm ready for one like RIGHT now lol Enjoy your weekend!!!!

  122. Just saw Deadpool and loved it! I was not super familiar with him as a comic character, so it was kind of delightful in that he's a lot like my character Zyan Star. Not so many penis jokes with her, but very irreverent for sure :)

  123. I'll see Deadpool with the kids this weekend. Just kidding. I'll see it when I can break away from the fam.

  124. My son has seen Deadpool three times now. He loved the humor. Eighteen going on twelve. Lol

  125. I trust you're spending the weekend enjoying our good weather.

  126. Deniz, if you have a theme, be a good idea to break your schedule and join us.

    Leandra, definitely not!

Shannon! Good to hear from you.

    Susan, you will.

Lexa, you will dig the film!

    Sandra, I am!

  127. Best of luck to all the A-Zers. I'll be thinking of all of you this year. Wish it was a different month so I could be a part of it too. Maybe when I'm a famous author I can retire from my job?

I'm with you, Deadpool rocked. It was a fun (albeit naughty) movie, that I will definitely watch again and again.

  128. Deadpool and Hail, Caesar! were two of the funniest movies I've seen in the last decade, released one week apart. I'd happily go rewatch either right now. Deadpool makes the most of that R-rating. It's crass and goofy and I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Star Wars: TFA had lots of things that Jurassic World didn't... good writing and sympathetic characters among them. -_-

And yeah, Deadpool was pretty damn fun, though I don't think it's the kind of movie I could watch over and over. I'm glad it was made, though, to show that there's definitely room for superhero movies like that. Should be interesting to see how they try to top that for a sequel. Bwa ha ha.

  130. Very nice to read you mention your wife. And mini Alex is always a fun thing to see. Welcome back from being on holiday. Here's to a kick ass week, with a great big side of boogie boogie.

  131. Thank you for the mention, Alex! Deadpool looks like such a great movie, I can't wait to see it!
