Being Humorous with The Vanished Knight! Plus Monster Movie Trivia, Haunted Castles, Man with the Iron Fist Movie Review, Cover Challenge, and Ninja News

Today I welcome the awesome Misha Gericke! And I may have stressed her a little with my request for snark. Let’s see how she did!

Be Humorous!

“Be humorous”, Alex said. “Humor always goes over well with the ninja crowd.” Do you have any idea how nervous this is making me. For one thing, I’m going to bust my chops and the ninjas won’t laugh.

Ninjas don’t laugh. Didn’t you know?

And even if they have a super secret sort of giggle, it’ll be too soft for human ears to hear. So… I guess the question is… If a ninja laughs in the blogosphere and I don’t hear it, am I ever funny?

Really though, writing humor gives me the heevie jeevies. It’s… sort of like… going into a room half naked. Anyone else know what I mean? I guess it’s because I know my sense of humor. It’s like 90% pure chocolate: dark, dry, a little bitter and absolutely wicked. Problem is, no matter how hard one tries, chocolate never really translates into writing. Same thing with what I think is funny. Not to say that my books are humorless. I believe there has to be bits of humor in all stories. Even fantasies with a possessed girl, a jackass (or fourteen), a nutty old man, a quiet kid, a heroic sociopath (or so people think, although I’m never sure if they’re right on the heroic or the sociopath side) and a half elf.

It’s easier then. My characters have senses of humor, and they make silly mistakes. And more often than not, I don’t plan any of it. The magic just happens, seemingly out of the ether. That, I’m comfortable with. Making the magic, not so much.

So… In the interest of humor, I thought I’d share a Nordian joke from Gawain in The Vanished Knight. *Clears throat*
What do you get if you tie two Merithians together? An irritation.
What do you get if you tie two Larisian Elves together? A headache. Unless you drown them.
What do you get if you tie two Ladrians together? Wait? You mean they’d notice?
What do you get if you tie two Nordian Saints together? Your hand back. Severed from your arm, of course.

Doo dum tsss!

Yeah… You’d need to read the book to get it. And in case you’re curious…

Movie Review

The Man with the Iron Fists
Directed by and starring RZA, with Eli Roth as one of the producers.
First off, this movie is not good. But, it is ridiculously entertaining! If you like way over the top wire-fu mixed with a bit of gore, then this might be the film for you. Won’t win any Oscars, but it was entertaining as hell.
Also starring Rick Yune, Lucy Liu, and a fat Russell Crowe.

Monster Movie Trivia!

Name the monster(s) or creature(s) in the following movies:

1 – Ginger Snaps 2000

2 – Them! 1954

3 – Tremors 1990

4 – Dead Alive 1992

5 – Near Dark 1987

6 – Mimic 1997

Misha does know humorous, doesn’t she? Have you picked up The Vanished Knight? Participating in NaNo? Ready to visit a haunted castle? Seen The Man with the Iron Fists? And do you know any of the monsters…?

  1. Ha, Misha's post really made me laugh because I understand how she feels SO well! Writing humour is hard, and not everyone shares my own personal sense of humour!

  2. Yeah, I'm first here. And I found the cover reveal error!

*Waves to humourist: Misha! And to Alex. And you've intrigued my about the Iron Fist. I will however wait to view it free :)

  3. It never occurred to me before reading Misha's post that others many not think I am funny. (Just kidding, but I did laugh at her post.) I missed the cover error, but I love the idea of doing the reveal this way. As for monster, I don't know any, but I am thrilled to be in the first few responses :)

  4. <3 castles- not so sure about the haunted part though and look at those beautiful covers! happy Friday, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I saw Iron Fists and had a similar reaction, although Fat Russell Crowe is my favourite indie band (their debut album "Are You Not Entertained?" out soon).

  6. The things I find funny are often not things other people do, so I'm worried about putting humour in my books!

Congrats to Ella on her publication. She's super talented.

I only know that Tremors has giant earthworms because it's the only one I've seen!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Humor is tough--because what's funny varies from person to person. I understand what Misha means!

    Nice covers!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm liking the Nordian Saints. Yes I'm morbid and writing heavy kissing scenes makes me feel the same way you do about humour Misha. Good feature and share. Iron Fist is definitely entertaining to watch and the husband and wife assassins were among the best of the fighters.

  9. Very funny, didn't know that ninjas didn't laugh.....poor things.

Congrats to Ella on her Somerset book. I was brought up not far from Somerset know the area well.

    Have a great week-end.
    Yvonne.

  10. Kyra, it is difficult to write.

Shah, definitely watch it for free.

Rhonda, I think you are funny!

Moody, that is a funny name for a band.

    Nick, that's one.

Sheena-kay, they were, and shame they went down early.

    Yvonne, this Ninja laughs!

  12. It's great seeing Misha and her novel all over the blogosphere! Her characters' jokes are funny!!

Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines

  13. Love Misha's post. Very clever segue.

I know what the cover mistake is on Lexi's book, but I'm not tellin'. :)

  14. I remember seeing the previews for Man with Iron Fist and was not intrigued personally. I may see it someday. And yes i am totally going to a haunted house this year. Sunday in fact!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I knew 3 of the 6 trivia monsters. I need to start watching more scary movies.

    Congrats to Misha!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow! Two great covers!
    Congrats to Misha and Lexa!
Haunted houses? Eeeek! Not for me thanks...
I can't even watch scary movies - gives me the heebie-jeebies!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Misha, you did great!

I'm not participating in NaNoWriMo this year. I've signed up for some heath webinars that will be keeping me busy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm pretty sure the answer to #3 is worms, earthworms, something like that.

I KNOW the answer to #2 THEM! is giant ants. I saw that movie as a kid on TV and, to this day, many years later, it still freaks me out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Fran, you know your monsters!!

Melissa, clever of you to spot it.

    Keith, enjoy!

Madeline, it was really effective at the time of its release. You got two.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Good luck to Misha Gericke and Lexa Cain! I'm sending big thoughts of success their way right now!

I may do NaNo. I have a book I want to finish. It may be a novella book around 175 pages. That I can handle. These 400 page books can really drain a person.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree with Misha, most of the humor I write seems to come from my characters and not from me. Sometimes I'll write something and it'll crack me up, and I'll have no idea where it came from.

I so need NaNo buddies! I also need to finish writing my author info and whatnot. But anyway, my NaNo name is sarahafoster if anyone wants to buddy up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Humor is tough to do, but I so agree it should be in there, even in the most serious novels. Sometimes you just gotta break the tension with something funny.

And congrats to Misha and Lexa!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. pretty cool on ella's article....saw pics at her place yesterday....i am learning humor over this last year and injecting more....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love Misha's post, I know how she feels! Whenever I try to be funny, people just look at me weird...but don't laugh! Congrats on the book!

The girl in Lexa's cover should have brown eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great post Misha, and ingenious cover reveal!

So many wonderful things going on this time of year!

    Happy Halloween!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd love to visit a haunted castle, there aren't too many near me though! I can't wait for NaNo next week, I just want to start writing now!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dang blogger ate my first comments! Let's try again to congratulate Lexa on her ever so clever cover reveal...Congrats Lexa!

Now to those monsters, some of which I'm not sure what to call...
    1. ?
    2. Giant ants.
    3. Big wormy things that explode out of the ground (and one of my all-time favorite Kevin Bacon movies)
    4. Well, it started with that monkey which ended up turning everyone into zombies
    5.?
    6. A flying beetle like creature who can fold his wings to mimic a human. Creepy but fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Good job, Misha. Fun cover reveal for Lexa, spotted the mistake here.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got most of the trivia... good call by the way. Great post, I am not even attempting cover errors until I have one large cup of coffee... Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Great post Misha! I swear, writing humor is one of the hardest things ever! And best wishes to all the other authors!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah ha! I think I found the error in this cover. The eyes are purple instead of brown. My observation skills are awesome, ha! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. humor is so tough and so depends on all kinds of mood issues. this worked, though.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Great job Misha!
I would make a terrible ninja. All that my opponents would need to do is tell jokes to find me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stephen, go for it!

Sarah, I'm sure you will find some NaNo buddies.

Marcy, sorry about that! You got four.

    Al, you're on a roll!

    Karen, I am envious!

    David, that made me laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  35. This ninja definitely laughed! (Silently, though, of course.) Humor is always a winner in my book!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lol. Nothing is harder than being funny when someone says, "Be funny!"

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wonderful post from Misha!
And a haunted castle sounds neat :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Misha brought it! ;D Ninjas laugh especially at blogfests~ Humor is hard and people expect it, if you bring it. Now that is truly scary~

Congrats Misha The Varnished Knight cover is so cool~

I love a good haunted castle. Yes, count me in! Do Ninjas do haunted?

Congrats Lexa! I love the cover!

Thank you Alex! I hope you have a happy music weekend~ Tell Mrs. AC hello

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm sorry, Misha -- I'm afraid don't find ethnic humor that funny. It just feeds on cheap and hurtful stereotypes. I know many Merthians who aren't irritating, and some Nordian Saints can be very mellow.

Instead of making fun of others, can't we all just get along? ;^)

And yes -- I absolutely love dark chocolate!

Great cover, Lexa (and I see the mistake!).

And The Man with the Iron Fists sounds good to me, lol!

    And let's see..

    1. No idea -- haven't seen it.
    2. Giant ants
    3. Giant underground wormy things
    4. Zombie Mama
    5. Vampires, I think?
    6. Dunno...

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just came back from visiting Liza Long's blog and Arlee's blog. Very interesting to read how going viral changed her life. It seems it was both a blessing and a curse.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Haunted castles! Congrats to Misha and Ella....Misha knows Humor, wouldn't know about the cover error but curious to look up the book now and yes I have seen the man with the iron fists....entertaining but not worth spending money on!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks for referring your readers to my interview with Liza Long. I think she says some important things in the interview and the post she did on her own page. Between the interview and my recent series I've been doing a deeper evaluation of why I blog, what my content should be, and who my blogging audience should be. Been doing a lot of thinking about blogging over the past couple of weeks.

  43. You did okay, Misha. It's not always easy to be funny on demand. I prefer humor dry and wicked, too. My husband, on the other hand, is in favor of all things corny.

Lexa, that cursor just keeps moving around. Kinda cool though, y'know a cursor and a pharaoh--curses? Ah, never mind. Cool cover.

I'm working a long day so I'll have to pop in on Lee on break.

    Congrats Ella!

    Have a great weekend Alex.

  44. Iron Fists sounds like much punch!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love the snark, Misha! I know exactly what you mean. I have dark chocolate powder for humor too. ;)

Congrats to Lexa! I spotted a difference!

Alex, the giants ants in Them scared the beejeebees outta me when I saw it! I was about 7 so I identified waaay to much with the trapped kids. Scarred me for life. I still run screaming if a bitty little ant gets on me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I can totally relate to Misha and yes, I was laughing ;)

An entertaining movie that is not good... hmm, I'll have to think about this one lol.

    Congratulations to Lexa!

    ReplyDelete
  47. So I had this brilliant idea to write an entire book from the POV of a character who's supposed to be humorous all the time. It took me three days to come up with a joke for him to tell in book #1, and now I'm writing the whole freakin' book #2 through the guy. I may regret this later. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I just read Arlee's guest post interview about going viral. Fascinating! Definitely worth reading and considering.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks for the giggle, Misha! As for Lexa's cover, gee, that's tough. Is it mascara on the girl's eyebrow? The font kinda makes the title read like Soul Gutter? Was the Egyptian dude supposed to be a ninja? I dunno... that's a toughie.
I started watching the Iron fist movie but stopped because, you're right, it was TERRIBLE. (I hate bad movies.) Saw Gravity a few days ago, though. It was a giant jar of awesome-sauce.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yay for Misha! That was hilarious. My humor is like that too. I'm always afraid no one will get it. Lexa's idea for a cover reveal is so awesome. No haunted castles for me today. I'll be babysitting two overly energetic 3-year-olds. That's scary enough! :) Have a good weekend, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  51. LMAO Chris, your comment made my day. Even my characters laughed.

Thanks all for your compliments, sympathy and good wishes!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was planning on doing NaNo this year, but at the last minute am starting to balk. I've got two weeklong visits from family planned in November that I just found out about. That and some long hours planned at the day job.

It seems so unfair that I don't have a time machine.

And writing humor is hard. Folks that do it well have a special kind of genius.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Misha, your post made me laugh. I know exactly what you mean. And I personally think I'm hysterical, but I've been assured that is not the case. Great post, Misha!

And Them! is the movie with the giant ants, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Misha, you did just fine. As Rusty said, writing humor is a challenge -- even for the ones famous for it. Russell Crowe certainly wasn't in his Gladiator shape for that movie! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. 3. Uuuuuum, enormous, flesh-eating worms?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Great job Misha, and congrats on your book! I'm heading over to Lee's!

    Julie

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't write humor on purpose. If my readers laugh, Great!. And if they don't, then they are a bunch of...Shit! I forgot what I was going to say here. Oh well. Have a great weekend

*Oh yes. I remember, lovely human beings. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Need to check out Lexa's cover more closely. I only know one monster and that's in Tremor's. Love cutey Kevin Bacon and how he blows up the gigunda worm-like creatures that tunnel beneath their village.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ella, I will! And Ninjas laugh at haunted houses.

Chris, funny! And you got four.

Elsie, that's how I'd see it.

Lee, you're welcome. Thinking of a new direction for your blog?

    Sia, good pun!

River, it got to me as a kid as well.

Cathy, now that's a good movie.

    Christine, that scares me!

Rusty, nothing like surprise family visits.

    MJ, correct!

    Roland, far from it!

    Suze, yes, more or less.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Now i know that what you wrote is funny as it made me giggle and i have not read the book but I know about elves and Sir Gawain:) Movie trivia-many guessed right but i don;t know all. I know "THEM" are creepy crawly giant ants that bug spray won't kill. Tremors are big ugley worms that really stink when blown up. Near Dark is all about the vampires but unsure of the other 2. I am certain one of them must be zombies as they are all over the place these days and i have had some in my office:)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I chuckled, Misha! I didn't get the jokes from the book, though. lol

I don't think I'll be attempting NaNo this year. lol

    (Ah, I found it!)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Congrats to Misha! Great book tour this week. Love her humor. Writing humor scares me, too- it can easily miss the mark. Great job to Misha, though. Have a great weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  63. 'Be humorous' - that's like standing someone up in front of a firing squad. Mischa pulled it off well.

No NANO for me this year, still working on edits and revisions. Gotta finishing one up before I'm onto another.

Horror Trivia other that then giant earth worms in Tremors, I have no idea - not my genre unless it's humorous. What? Tremors wasn't supposed to be funny?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Great and, yes, humorous post, Mischa!
What a fun idea with Lexa's cover. Very clever and entertaining :)
    Have a great weekend, everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. That's great Mischa. I don't get those jokes at all, so I'd better read the book. Thanks for hosting Alex! I'm a sucker for wire-fu.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Nicely humorous, Misha! And I'll be darned if I can find the error on Lexa's cover. Arrg!

    ReplyDelete
  67. all but one, know Them is bugs but don't remember which, unless i cheat and look at other comments then it is ants lol

    ginger snaps - werewolf
    Them - umm bugs?
tremors - graboids(ass blasters are the best name ever)
    dead alive - zombies
near dark - dumb vampires, hate vampires
    Mimic - giant bugs, cockroaches

    ReplyDelete
  68. Love the cover of your book Misha. The jokes went over my head :( I better read the book fast.

Lexa's book cover is super and the title is amazing. I am hooked.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Misha, Being funny "on the spot" is hard. My dad had one of those sense of humors that wouldn't have translated well to writing, either.

As for Lexa... I found it!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Birgit, you got several right!

Faraway, I thought it was funny...

Maurice, then you will dig the film.

Pat, very good! And you got the proper name as well.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'd love to visit a haunted castle, hotel, or cemetery, though I'd probably prefer to be in a tour and not alone.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I can relate to Misha because I am never quite certain if my humor will translate into what other people are going to think is funny. Big congrats on her book release and props for her attempt at humor!

And, I'll take a HARD PASS on visiting anything haunted, whether it's a castle or an outhouse, LOL

    Have a great weekend Alex!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hehe! Great post, Misha! And humor is hard. A person either finds a particular thing funny or not.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love Tremors. The first one was good the rest of them silly.
I would love to visit any castle, especially Dracula's.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Misha - I totally get your fear - it's one of mine too. I giggle over things that leave other people looking at me oddly, but wait, I think they might do that anyway. Oh well. :) I like your sense of humor and style. Way to go with The Vanished Knight!

Alex - for the trivia, um, in Tremors, they have giant earthworms, right?

And I miss NaNo, but I'm Revmoing.

  77. Love the cover of your book Misha =-)

And sadly, the only movie trivia I know is Tremors, and even more sadly I believe the name of the creatures doubles as the title of the movie... tremors. lol Wait, is that right?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jaybird, I can actually direct you to a haunted outhouse!

    Susan, silly and lame.

    Tyrean, basically.

Emilynn, they were given a name. Goofy, but a real name.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Found the error! I think that means I got them all... Now, I just have to remember them all.

  80. Hi Alex,

Misha, no need to feel pressure about being snarky. I'm sure Alex would agree with me that he's nothing to get nervous about being on his site.

You snarked away and you did okay. The thing is and this is the deal, you had a dream, you had a schedule, you published your book. That's a result! :)

Ah, Lexa's cover reveal and the error on the cover. Shall be working my way through them all. It was easy on my site.

No No to NaNo,thank you very much.

    Happy Friday and weekend, Alex.

  82. I totally get what Mischa means with humor. I grew up in a home where sarcasm was the same as humor. So it's hard to shed that side, and can come off as downright mean sometimes, even tho it's never intended that way.
Interested to read that post on Arlee's blog ...

  83. Wishing Misha success with the Vanished Knight. For me, humor is a necessary ingredient in a book, even if the subject is serious. As in life, the lighter moments sparkle.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anyone would be wise to buddy up with Bev Fox for NaNo. She's a very sweet and thoughtful person and dedicated to these November rituals.

  85. I can totally relate to how Misha feels about writing humor. But she did a great job with it!
Ooh, I have to go look at the haunted castles. Awesome.

    Happy weekend, Alex!

  86. Cool cover reveal! My guess is the error is in the color of the eyes.

Humor is really important in writing - especially for writers of children's books. I try to add as much humor as possible through my characters.

  88. lol Good joke, Misha. Very clever.

    Woot for Lexa!

Them - giant ants. Tremors - worms [they reminded me of sand worms in Dune]. :)

    Happy weekend!

  89. Nothin' to worry about, Misha, I laughed many times...even at the Gaiwan jokes that I didn't totally understand.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yes, I'm doing NaNo this year. I'm Patty Petunia. How's that for laugh?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Thanks so much for mentioning me, Alex! (And sorry for the late comment- I've been in bed with REALLY bad cold all day)
Now i'm off to troll your comments for new NaNo buddies~

And Misha- even without knowing the races you list I still found it funny that there are jokes about tying them together! Now that's a well thought-out world!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Really enjoyed reading your post, MIsha and wishing you lots of sales for The Vanished Knight:)

Congrats, Lexa on your upcoming book and love your cover. Oh, and I spotted this one's error:)

  94. 1. No idea. I never heard of this one!

    2. Giant ants (I remember that from a Far Side cartoon).

    3. Graboids.

    4. Zombies, I assume.

    5. Haven't heard of this one, either.

    6. Giant insects. Again. They could disguise themselves as people or something.

    I love trivia quizzes :)

  95. It's hard to be funny on demand. Too much pressure. Excellent cover Misha!

That cover now has blue eyes! Or I am going screen blind ;)

  96. Gary, you're right - no need to be nervous here.

PK, you never come off as mean.

    John, yes she is!

    Marry, correct!

    Patricia, I like the name.

Beverly, you're welcome, and sorry you've been sick.

JE, you got four! And the exact name for the critters in Tremors.

  97. I'm the 100th commenter!

Misha is great!=. I switch back and forth between her two blogs.

The only one I know is the giant worms in Tremors...

  98. Hey I actually know #2 - giant ants. I saw that movie in the 50s I guess, scared the crap out of me and I have remembered it clearly ever since, especially the noise the ants made.

Looks Like I will have to read Mishe's book.

  99. Misha, you are very funny! And, I can hear the Ninja laughing all the way from here!

Can I live in the haunted castle? That would be great.

    Trivia! YEAH!
    1. werewolf
    2. giant ants
    3. dirt eels?
    4. zombies
    5. vampires!!!
    6. roaches?

I think I got this one!!!

    Have a great weekend!

  100. The Vanished Knight sounds funny, and I've got a weak spot for humor, so I'll check out M.'s book. (Love the cool abbreviated name.)

And Alex... (sigh) I haven't even seen the six monster movies you listed for trivia, which proves yet again that I'm always out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Misha: I always fall flat with humor too. My CPs always have to tell me what they think is funny, and what needs to be worked on. I'm much better at drama :) Congrats on the release.

Ah, I found this cover mistake. Its a fun game.

I do recognize a couple of the monsters in your movies Alex.

    Have a good weekend.

  102. My husband and I just watched Ginger Snaps the other day! Tremors is a classic, of course, and Near Dark was a big part of my childhood since it was one of my mom's all time favorite movies. As for Dead Alive, I still have vivid memories of the ear falling into the food. Yum!

  103. Congrats Misha!

The trivia is a hard one!
    Ants, werewolves, ???

    ReplyDelete
  104. I can't thank you enough for your help with my cover reveal. It's been an awesome day! :-)

    1. werewolves
    2. giant ants
    3. giant underground worms
    4. zombies
    5. vampires
    6. giant cockroaches disguised as humans

  105. First off, Misha's book looks awesome! Nice cover! And the synopsis lends to intrigue. Reads very good. So happy for her.

Second, ingenious idea for Lexa's cover reveal (and yes, I spotted the error).

Third...Alex, you pick some hard movie trivia. I only knew two.

And finally, NaNo, here I come. Have a great weekend, Alex.

  107. Andrew, you lost me...

    Sharon, you are! And yes.

Jo, you're correct, and I think it scared everyone.

Heather, you got all! Technically not dirt eels, but that is just such an awesome and unique name you came up with.

Helena, you aren't the only one.

LG, part of your childhood - that is just awesome. And yes, the ear scene was funny.

    Carolyn, yes to both!

Lexa, you're welcome, and all six correct.

Mike, I was trying for easy, but I guess only if you are a horror movie fan.

  108. I love the description of "not good but, entertaining."

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hahaha!!! Love the error you get to sport, Alex. Totally laughing. I think this cover reveal might be the best cover idea yet. I'm getting a kick out of all of these.

And I didn't know that ninjas didn't laugh... of course I've never heard one... so... yeah.

  110. Beautiful ...! Interesting and fun providing Misha Gericke!

  111. Misha, you are crazy funny! Thanks for the laughs.

  112. The humor aspect doesn't intimidate me when I'm writing, but the fluffy love scenes do. (Says the romance author. LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I am not a funny writer. If I do manage a funny, it's by accident! =) And I got the mistake, woot!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yay for Misha! No NaNo this time around.

    Hugs and chocolate,
    Shelly

    ReplyDelete
  115. Tony, that description fits best.

    Morgan, we do laugh.

Carrie, any romance scenes intimidate me.

  116. Great guest post by Misha -- liked the Nordian jokes. Lexa's cover... Dang it. I don't notice anything different! Wire-fu, eh? I'll skip that one.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Lexa's cover looks awesome! If there's an error, I sure don't see it.

    1. werewolves
    2. giant ants
    3. big underground worms
    4. zombies
    5. vampires
    6. big cockroaches things

  120. Being funny about not being funny...tricky to pull off, but you did it, Misha.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Sad as it is, the only one I have seen is Them, with James Arness. They were giant ants.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I believe Ginger Snaps features werewolves, and I know that because I got bored one night and watched the movie.

I normally don't watch horror, but this one really intrigued me.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Go Misha. Wonderful post. And I love Lexa's cover too.

    ReplyDelete
  124. SL, you know your horror!

    JJ, correct!

GB, yes it did. It wasn't bad.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I admit, I laughed at the last two jokes, even if I didn't quite get the references. ^_^ I'll definitely have to take a look at this book.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Humour done well is a delight, but not everyone can write it well. It's starting to feel scary here, must be the last week of October!

    ReplyDelete
  127. congrats to Misha and Lexa!!
And yes, I can't force humour either.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I love that Mary shares her stars with us on her blog. They're amazing photos!

  129. I have been loving Lexa's cover challenge. :) Got it!
