Movie Blogfest Wrap-up, Ninja News, Covers, Wednesday Movie Quote, and Movie Reviews

Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest Wrap-up

Whoa! One of the most successful blogfests ever – 183 participants! Lots of great movies listed. If you want to continue browsing for movie suggestions, the list is HERE and all links go straight to the post. (Yes, I’m anal and took the time to do that.) Great turnout and lots of comments. Thanks to all who visited - I had almost 240 comments!

Ten movies was difficult, and I was reminded of a few that should’ve made my list – The Usual Suspects, The Princess Bride, and John Carter. (And since I visited everyone - most popular was LOTR, Avengers, and The Princess Bride.)

Did anyone visit all of the participants? I did! And special thanks to Jeremy, David, and Mark who also visited a ton of folks.

Now, who’s ready for movie night?

Wednesday Movie Quote

This week’s theme – Westerns.

My choices come from Tombstone, said by Doc Holiday –

“I’m your huckleberry.”

“It’s true, you are a good woman. Then again, you may be the antichrist.”

Next week’s movie quote theme – horror.

Movie Reviews

Resident Evil: Retribution
Still directed by Anderson and staring Milla Jovovich, the look and feel of the series remains intact. However, it just might be running out of steam.
Not much of a plot. Does it need one? Well, not really. The storyline just rolls into a new, unbelievable setting and sets it up for another movie.
I knew what I was getting and was mildly entertained.
And my wife wants Milla’s personal trainer.

Dark Shadows
Directed by Tim Burton and staring Johnny Depp. Of course!
Based on an old soap opera, the film follows cursed vampire Barnabas Collins' return to the family after years of imprisonment.
This film was odd. And overall, not very good. Instead of endearing quirkiness, it’s more like dysfunctional unease. This time Burton and Depp did not gel well for a good movie. Glad I skipped it in the theater.

Did you find some new films to watch on Monday? Vote for Laura? Pick up the new Starcraft? Dig the covers? What’s your favorite Western movie quote? And have you seen either Dark Shadows or the latest Resident Evil?

  1. I want to see Dark Shadows just to see how bad it is.

Speaking of "bad" movies, I finally watched Battleship. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

  2. The Matrix was another popular choice. It was a fun blogfest!

    ReplyDelete
  3. The blogfest was great! I'm glad I took part in it!

    ReplyDelete
  4. The blogfest was epic! Another success for the Ninja Captain!

I want to see Dark Shadows, but I've heard so many bad things that I don't want to waste the cash getting it. I'll wait till it comes around on TV.

  5. Indie covers just keep getting better. Ocean Slays is especially good.

  6. Hi Alex - the movie fest was a great hit - and gives people like me a good source of recommendations to come back to ...

I voted for Laura - I thought Jezebel might grab me otherwise ...

So many new books and authors out there .. thanks for keeping up with them for us ..

    Cheers Hilary

  7. Thanks for another amazing blogfest Alex! Congrats to all of the authors!

  8. Dude,

That blogfest *scared* me... I woke up at 7 a.m. HST (or 1 p.m. EST) and I had 46 emails in my inbox... I thought there was a family emergency, but then in my dazed waking-up-ness, I realized they were emails, not voicemails :)

So cheers for scaring the crapola out of me - the *morning* after St. Paddy's Day :)

  9. Nope, haven't seen either movie yet. Yes the blogfest rocked hard. Those covers were great and I love your movie quote this week. Made me laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I also enjoyed the Movie Blog Fest. Visited quite a few people, but did not have the time to visit more, helping my son prepare for a Year 12 Maths exam tomorrow!

I have seen both films. Of course I enjoyed the Resident Evil one. Dark Shadows was a little weird, but I have a soft spot for Johnny Depp and Tim Burton.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You are amazing to have made it to all. I agree that Dark Shadows was a disappointment. When he took out the hippies, hubby and I left the theater to find something better to do.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Great covers up there and congratulations to Laura! That's great her book got nominated. I have in on my list to read. Had a blast during the blogfest Alex, next time you should do a Top 50. That should be enough to cover most of my favorites. (;
I'm not a big Western fan, but I remember seeing Tombstone and liked it. Bad Girls was a fun movie too: "You're dead! I just ain't killed you yet."

    ReplyDelete
  13. Andrea, Battleship is a great "B" movie! I dug it.

    Tony, yes it was.

Jamie, that probably won't be long...

Hilary, we don't want to anger Jezebel!

    Mark, were you overwhelmed?

Carolyn, hope he does well on his exams.

Donna, did you really? That's funny.

    Elise - funny!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not sure I want to see Dark Shadows if it was that bad. I loved the TV series as a kid.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks so much for sharing my cover, Alex!!

You also put two of my fav western quotes up. LOVE Tombstone. I can quote that whole stinkin' movie by heart. Sad.

    2 of my fav lines:

    "I want one."

    "Happy hunting."

    ReplyDelete
  16. I enjoyed the movie blogfest. Fran's was also posted on The Miniatures Page so it spread there as well. A few of those blokes liked the same movies as I did. Lawrence of Arabia is my all time favorite.

How in the world do you find time to manage everything?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I didn't join the blogfest, but it was great reading everyone's choices.

    Fantastic cover reveals.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Favourite western quote? Erm.. "Head them off at the pass?" LOL!! And everything said in Blazing Saddles!!

    Take care
    x

    ReplyDelete
  19. As much as I like Johnny, I have to agree with your review for Dark Shadows. It didn't quite make it.

And congrats for a very successful blogfest!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Alex, those books look very inviting. and you film reviews are always good to read.
Still in Spain, be home Friday.

    Yvonne.

  21. I've been to about 100-120 links! all had great movies on their list and i finally realized I am more obsessed with them than I thought! no wonder why my writing goes so slow...

I've seen both Resident evil and Dark shadows and I'd chose Resident Evil over Dark Shadows, in spite of being a big, big Johnny Depp fan.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dark Shadows was really boring more than anything. The worst of all possible scenarios. And Resident Evil peaked after the excellent third movie, I don't think they've been able to match that one. I've stopped watching them. How many are there now? 12?

Thanks for the blogfest, it was great. Too bad I had so much crap going on this week. I've kinds been screwed for being on the Internet.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I had a chance to stop by some of the blogs that participated in the top ten movie blogfest. There were some really great choices. CONGRATS to everyone who participated!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I kept seeing Inception and Serenity on the lists (an Princess Bride). I guess I'm gonna have to take a break from writing and watch some movies. Maybe it can be my reward when I finish my WIP. I'm in the home stretch!

I had occasion to read Christine's 1301 The Marquis. Good stuff! I'm hooked now. 1302 & 1303 are calling to me from my Kindle. :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. Having been a fan of the original soap opera, I doubt I'll watch the new Johnny Depp version.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Natalie, I don't think they have much in common.

Terri, you're welcome! And so many great lines from that film.

Anne, that was cool of Fran to do that! And remember - clones.

    Kitty, you rock!

Adriana, thanks for visiting so many. And I'd chose Resident Evil as well.

Rusty, I think that was number five...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm still working my way through all the comments on my Movie post, plus I want to visit a bunch more blogs. It's been a blast so far! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh yes The Princess Bride!! What a classic. I wish they would make a sequel.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I forgot the movie quote again. I'm visiting more top 10 posts today. It was fun.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yahoo for Laura! The fest was fun, Alex, as always and I've added a few things to my to-watch list because of it. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, to be seen Dark Shadows, Tim Burton is a director very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. My Netflix que is full. I'll start catching up on flicks this weekend. Amazing how many films I haven't seen or its been a while and should watch them again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The movie fest was a ton of fun. I have a list of new movies to watch now too, bonus! I tried to visit as many as I could before work and after but could not get to everyone on the list.. I have no idea how you do it Alex!

Congrats to all of the authors! Wonderful news for everyone.

I am a fan of Tim Burton- I think he's a total nutter but a film genious- that having been said, Dark Shadows fell a little flat for me. I was shocked to find out my parents, who used to watch the original, really liked it. Go Figure!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I really enjoyed the movie blogfest, too. Realized how many great movies there are that I love. Ten just isn't enough. Just this morning I needed to quote "A Room with a View" and realized it should have been on my list. Please tell me you've seen it...you might not be a Merchant/Ivory fan from what I see you enjoying, but this is a true comedy and the bathing scene with full frontal male nudity is NOT to be missed. Worth the whole thing, and ALL of it's good. My third most quotable movie.

  35. I told my wife I had no interest in seeing Dark Shadows. She brought it home anyway from the library and started watching it. I watched most of it with her and realized, I was right the first time. I had no interest in seeing it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love tombstone! :)

Congrats Ladies- the covers look awesome

    ReplyDelete
  37. I found some great movies I forgot about... some wonderful choices people made... though many thought I cheated a little... ;)

    http://www.jmhdigital.com/2013/03/top-ten-movie-countdown-blogfest-hosted.html

Dark Shadows was a mess, it was too much artsy instead of artistic... I was very saddened by it. Burton is not... not Woody Allen, Hell Woody is not himself anymore. Back away from your chair and give us wonderful, not wonders... full of mess.

    Great Day, great blog-fest!

    Jeremy

    ReplyDelete
  38. I liked Dark Shadows. It was typical Johnny Depp.

Hey, congrats on the movie blogfest. I did not visit everyone, would have loved too. Those who I did visit and I hadn't followed, I followed.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Another great fest! Had a great time visiting other lists!
Saw some movies I need to watch again!
    Heather

  40. That's such awesome news about Laura's book!

I visited a lot of the participants but not even close to all!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The top 10 movie countdown was a blast! Thanks for hosting! I heard all kinds of bad things about Dark Shadows, you just cemented those critiques. Awesome cover reveals!

    ReplyDelete
  42. It was fun to read the movie choices even if I didn't sign up myself. Another great fest!

Wow, how exciting for Laura! Need to go congratulate her now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. That was a great blog hop and a lot of fun. Reading some of the lists brought back some good movie memories.

As a fan of the original show, I'm with you on Dark Shadows. Unfortunately, I did see it in the theater....ugh :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Haven't seen either of those movies but like your wife, I sure would like Milla's trainer!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I didn't have high hopes for Dark Shadow because I couldn't even look at Depp in the commercials. Same think happened in that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory debacle.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love that line from Tombstone. Val Kilmer made that movie.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I didn't participate, but I read a lot of entries. Awesome blog fest :) My picks would've been all the Harry Potter movies, lol. So my readers didn't miss out on much.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was surprised (and I don't know why...I loved the movie) that Avengers was such a hit. All those Marvel movies are just awesome. Thor is my favorite, mostly for the eye candy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. favorite western movie quote comes from Open Range - Charlie says, "You may not know this, but there are some things that gnaw at a man worse than dying." (maybe not exact but pretty close.)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Congrats on the success of your blogfest. I suck at movies!

Congratulations to everyone on their new releases. So many of our friends are cranking out the books.

Yay for Laura - I voted!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Whoa, 183 participants is awesome! Congrats on the blogfest success!

Hey, I want Milla’s personal trainer too!

    ReplyDelete
  52. "Hurrah, Hurrah for the Confederacy! Hurrah! Down with his General Grant! Hurrah for General...what's his name? Lee! Lee! God is with us because he hates the Yanks too. Hurrah!"
"Gods is not on our side because he hates idiots also."

    ReplyDelete
  53. It was definitely a fun blogfest! And there were a few films that should've made my list too that I forgot. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Those are great covers!

I figured Dark Shadows would be weird, but good-weird. It sounds like it's just weird-weird. Think I'll pass!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I wish I'd seen that blog fest on time. So fun. I'll probably do it anyway. Also, didn't read the comments, but if you haven't seen the original Dark Shadows TV show, it's worth a look.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks for the heads up on Dark Shadows. Because of your review, I'm not gonna waste my time (even though I do like Johnny Depp).

Congratulations to Laura too. That's a great accomplishment.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hmm, I still want to see Dark Shadows... you know, just to see if I agree with you or not.

Loved visiting the blog fest posts, well, the few I follow anyway. That was a great idea, maybe I'll join in next year ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I did find a movie, Super 8, from your list. :-) And I don't care for westerns but, besides Dancing With Wolves, Tombstone is one of the few I have seen, of course, because I love Val Kilmer & his huckleberry line! Congrats to Laura!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Alex - I really liked the Avengers. Wasn't a fan of the Johnny Depp movie or the zombie one. But I do agree with your wife. I want the lead actors personal trainer. Which reminds me, that was one of the best parts of the movie. When she would pause and pose (look at me, I'm totally hot in my outfit). The Hubs and I would laugh, agree, and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ‘Tombstone’, another good one that got left off my movie list. Kilmer stole the show. Had to be the best rendition of Doc Holliday ever.

My movie quote is from and old classic Western, Shane (1953)

Shane: A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

    [last lines]
    Joey: Shane! Come back!

One of the ‘most popular’ movies in the Fest made my list. That sure was a good time.

    Some Interesting covers there.

AND, I have to agree with you that ‘Dark Shadows’, a movie I thought had so much potential was really kind of a stinker.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Optimistic, was there a sequel to the book?

Jaybird, that is surprising! And my clones worked hard on Monday.

    Tina, I could miss that...

Charles, when you're right, you're right!

    Jeremy, it was a mess.

    Karen, that works!

    Mark, bummer.

    Sydney, he did!

    Michelle, that's a good quote.

    Al - funny!

Nancy, you'll really like Super 8.

RaShelle, she can pose for me all she wants.

    Faraway, good quote!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Great movie blogfest. I liked seeing the more unusual choices.

    mood

    ReplyDelete
  63. I was amazed at how many times I saw Princess Bride pop up on people's list. I thought we were the only family that could quote that movie. What a great blogfest that was, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Granted, Johnny Depp is unconventally in his choice of films sometimes, but lately they border on bizarre. I'll still watch them though. LOL.

    Happy Wednesday, Alex!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Those are some eye-catching covers.

I saw Dark Shadows and wished I hadn't, but am looking forward to Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Alex, thank you for hosting yet another fantastic blogfest! It was my favorite so far. ;)
I wasn't able to visit all of the participants, but I left comments to quite a few. I was surprised, but in a good way, by how many people did put The Avengers on their lists. Didn't see that one coming.

By the way, I love the animated banner. Just noticed it. So cool!

    ReplyDelete
  67. It was a fun blog hop. I did kick myself a few times after being reminded of movies I love that I didn't include. Whew, two back to back blog hops has me blogged out. I don't know how you do it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I didn't list movies--time got away from me (okay, I forgot the date was this past Monday) and then I was too tired to add them to my Monday Musings. I didn't get to all of them but I did stay up until 11:30pm, toothpicks in place after a 12 hour work day, to read a lot of them.

I did have a list of movies, Alex, I really did. And Yes, Princess Bride and the Avengers was on it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Congratulations to Laura! And Christine has yet another book? Wow! That woman is amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  70. It was fun seeing everyone's movie lists!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I watched this movie with my family and they all complained that it had no plot (Resident Evil, I mean). But I was like, the movie is based off the video game! OF COURSE there won't be toooo much of a plot! I came just for the action, and I found it fun :) (But a plot would have been a welcome addition. I wonder when the series will end.)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dark Shadows looked so interesting in the trailer! From your review I'm glad I skipped it in the theater as well.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Congrats on the blogfest turnout and to Laura on her nomination. Good stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Elsie, I think everyone can quote that film.

    Johanna, that one looks good.

George, glad you enjoyed it. And Retro-Zombie Jeremy made the banner for me.

LG, I am dragging a little...

Sia, at least you still got to enjoy it.

SC, it will end will Milla is too old. Maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Except for a couple that didn't open correctly in my browser, I visited them all. It was fun. Thanks, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Don't watch "Dark shadows"! Save yourself...

Can't think of a Western quote this minute. But the Val Kilmer quote was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Congratulations on such a great success of your blogfest :-) These are amazing numbers.

Congrats to everyone on their new releases. It's so awesome to see the familiar names on the brand new covers!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I certainly voted for Laura.

I forgot several movies on my list - Jurassic Park & Galaxy Quest come to mind. Stargate, too.

Dark Shadows was OK. I think it could have been brilliant. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow, I wondered how Dark Shadows was. I never really heard anyone I knew speak of it when it came out at the theater. Thanks for your input.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Congrats Laura! That's one of the shortest Ninja News I've ever seen Alex. I'm guessing Friday's will be fifty pages long to make up for it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Really enjoyed the movie blog fest. Thanks for hosting, Alex. Need to keep visiting peeps on the list...didn't have much computer time yesterday and got behind a bit...ah life, and then we blog :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thank you so much for mentioning my book being nominated!

There were so many good movies in the blogfest - both ones I'd forgotten about and new ones to try. It was tough trying to narrow it down to ten for most people I think.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Congratulations to Laura! I love the yin-yang of this quote: “It’s true, you are a good woman. Then again, you may be the antichrist.”

    ReplyDelete
  84. The Princess Bride really is one of my all-time favorite movies. Love love love that movie. It just became too hard to narrow it down to 10 movies that I love the BEST.

I am going to try and visit more participants today and tomorrow. With the traveling and sporadic internet, I fully admit that I wasn't able to participate as fully as I would have liked:( However, I am so happy for you that it was such a resounding success!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Love the covers. I'm usually impressed with the art on author's books.

    Western quote:
"Man's got a right to protect his property and his life, and we ain't lettin' no rancher or his lawman take either." Robert Duvall from 'Open Range'. Loved this movie. One of the best westerns I've seen.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I probably shouldn't mention that I've started reading Regency novels, will probably have to become a Jane Austen fan, and I'm thinking of watching Cranford, a Judi Dench series set during that period of history. So dull and boring, huh? Hey, I'm gearing up for the Challenge! ~ Dani

    ReplyDelete
  87. Sorry I didn't have time to join in with the movie blogfest but it seems to have been a great success! Congrats to all the authors with cover reveals.

    ReplyDelete
  88. "I'm not goina hit ya, I'm not goina hit ya....the hell I'm not" Bammo! Love John Wayne I think I got that quote right. Love the quote you gave and an excellent movie. Val Kilmar was excellent at Doc. Great cover reveals. You should do a best sci fi movie filmfest. Have you ever seen Dark City? Great film. Stars wars would be on, The Day the Earth Stood Still(1951) with Michael Rennie and War of the Worlds in 1953-excellent. I know Aliens is superv but every time the alien pops out of John Hurt's body i freak and go under the covers

    ReplyDelete
  89. Loved the Ninja movie fest - didn't visit enough, but I did get reminded of loads of movies I want to watch again. :)

Ah, the quote . . .and I'm blank on that today. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Can't believe I missed out on this one. The Usual Suspects would definitely have made my top ten. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Had a lot of fun on the blogfest. I LOVED both of these movies and thought they were some of the best from last year. And since I visited Jamie's blog, Time Machine with Guy Pierce was terrific too. ;D I am an odd duck when it comes to movies sometimes.

With westerns hmmm... I'll go with Tombstone, too. "Why Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave." I realy love this movie.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Tuco from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly......

"When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk"

    ReplyDelete
  93. Susan, too late!

Maurice, I hope not that long!

    Laura, you're welcome.

Jenn, I think it was the latter.

    Belle, good one!

Dani, you'll have a lot of fun.

Birgit, great quote. And Dark City is pure genius.

Melissa, good quote. And odd, but we like you anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  94. LOL! Love the movie quote. Funny you posted what Doc Holliday said. I live near Tombstone and my husband bought me a cool metallic sign that says, "I'm your huckleberry." I have it up in my office.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Absolutely thrilled for Laura! I've followed her for a long time now, and her success is well-earned. I'm proud for her. :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm glad I missed Dark Shadows, since as you say it kind of missed the mark.

Milla Jovovich is in incredible shape, isn't she? When I catch the tail end of one of her movies on TV, I always feel like getting up and exercising.

My favorite western quote is from a PBS documentary about Billy the Kid. Right after escaping and just before shooting a guy, Billy called out, "Hello, Bob," to him -- then BANG.

    ReplyDelete
  97. It was an awesome blogfest!

And I really disliked Dark Shadows! :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Fantastic covers.

    The blogfest was a blast.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I had a lot of fun with the blogfest. Keep coming up with fun ones like it.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thanks, wasn't sure where to spend my movie allowance; I think I'll go get scared!

    ReplyDelete
  101. It was a really great blogfest, Alex. Thank you. Love the second quote from Tombstone too.

    xoRobyn

    ReplyDelete
  102. I did find some new movies to watch! I saw "Alien" listed on several blogs, but I've never seen it.

I agree with your review of Dark Shadows. It was odd. My friend and I saw it thinking it would be humorous and we enjoy Johnny Depp. Nope, neither of us liked it. And it's not funny like the preview makes it seem.

I love Christine's cover and I can't wait for the next book!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Alex J. Cavanaugh,
    You've come so far
    You really are a superstar
    Ah yes your movie blogfest
    One of the best
Of course when it comes to blogfest
    Surely you jest...

I shall now go a voting.

Pawsitive wishes, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! Much like you are....

    ReplyDelete
  104. I haven't seen Dark Shadows and there's a reason - it looked a bit too cheesy for my liking. Friends have told me it was great but I'm still not convinced I even want to see it. Your little review just reinforces that feeling. :P

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'm so glad that the Movie Countdown blogfest was a success! And it was definitely EPIC for us, participants! It was hard narrowing it down to just ten.

I haven't seen Dark Shadows yet because I think it's going to scary. I'm not a fan of horror films, but I do like Tim Burton-Johnny Depp collaborating, so maybe I'll see it for them.

  106. "I stand corrected, Wyatt you are an oak". Great movie...and it for sure should be on my list.

Congrats on a huge blogfest and getting to every participant. I am still slogging my way through but I am enjoying every stop.

Dang, I have to get to work on my A-Z...I am about to enter FRENZY mode since I m so far behind my plan!

  107. Fran, nothing like a good Eastwood quote.

    Michelle, that's cool.

    Helena, that's brutal.

Krista, it wasn't at all funny.

    Penny, you rock!

    Livia, not scary at all.

  108. I was so surprised to see the same movies over and over again on people's lists. I want to do some research as to why and figure out that storytelling secret. :)

  109. I'm still getting comments from the blogfest!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yeah, me too Diane. Great blogfest Alex thanks.

    Tired now, off to bed.

  111. I found a few movies I've added to my list - especially Avengers and Love Actually :)

  112. You sure know how to throw a party--blogfest party, that is. I saw the trend with the Avengers. It was a good movie, not sure if it would make it on my top 15, maybe top 20. I rather enjoyed the bonus scene where all the Avengers are eating Shawarma. Now that was a knee slapper. haha

    Congrats, Laura! That's awesome!

  113. Yay for Jade!! I'm ready for a movie night . . . good thing spring break is next week:-)

  114. I didn't post my own, but I did visit quite a few. Many different movies this time around...

    ReplyDelete
  115. I loved your choice of movies. Thanks for the Feedly info, will have to check that out.
You had 240 comments. Wow!!! Thats super duper awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I did see lots of movies I want to watch. Wow, you visited a lot of blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Ilima, that would be nice to know!

    Rachna, yeah blew me away!

Brinda, since I was hosting, I needed to visit everyone who participated.

    ReplyDelete
  118. That was an awesome blogfest. You learn a lot about someone based on what 10 they pick. I visited as many as I could, but I don't even think I visit 183 blogs in one week. That's a lot of reading!

Also, I had no desire to see Dark Shadows in theaters, and this just confirms that I made the right call.

  119. Good to know I picked two of the three top favorites. I feel very unoriginal. But on the other hand...those movies rule.

I love the Resident Evil movies. As long as they keep making them, I'll keep going.

  120. Congrats to Laura Eno! For me, Dark Shadows was spotty, yet it had some funny moments. The art direction was fun in a retro way.

  121. I was at the theater and peeked in at Dark Shadows-glad I didn't go! ;D

Congrats to Laura! Off to vote~

Wow-I still need to go make rounds and read the great movie picks!

I was gone most of yesterday! I was dropping off resumes. I met some nice Firemen-though my damn accent gave me away. (I might not get the job because of my Boston twang) No, I'd be in the office, lol

  122. Congrats on such a successful blogfest :D

  126. I just wanted to let you know I'm stopping by from the A to Z challenge list. However, I've also been reading over the last year several of the IWSG posts! I wanted to let you know that I love the idea of IWSG and love reading the posts. I just wish my positive posts I write wouldn't come to me at the wrong times. :)

Love that quote, too, by the way! :)

You might also be interested In a little group called #writemotivation. We cheer each other on over on Twitter, and sometimes we have blog posts to help too. Since I am writing my first draft of my first novel, I need some cheering and they are a great group, too.

    One word = progress
    Zero words = stagnation
    Deleting words = regression
    Don’t regret, progress.

I have to keep reminding myself this with my first draft of my first novel.

This is my first year with the A to Z challenge, even though I've watched it grow over the last 3 years. I'm also taking part in the Reveal. I'm trying to share some positivity with my #WriteMotivation friends on Twitter (and to help keep me positive in the process)
Hope to see you around. :)

  127. Wow, those are great covers! Glad you had a successful blogfest! Dark Shadows was a disappointment in many ways.

  128. That's awesome for the bloghop! Thank you very much for helping with my cover reveal. I have Dark Shadows on my Netflix list. Perhaps I'll move it down the list. I have Rise of the Guardians right now.

  129. I wondered if the previews for Dark Shadows were the best parts, sound like it. Nice Covers!

  131. Looks like it was a great blog fest. I'll have to spend some time hopping around. The covers are nice :)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Thanks for the Dark Shadows review---I was on the fence about checking that one out. Off the fence now, that's for sure!

  133. Brandon and Bryan, as host, I was determined to visit them all on Monday - mission accomplished. Dark Shadows - just say no.

Ella, I'm sure your twang is nice.

    Suze, so did I!

Hey Jamie! Glad you've enjoyed the IWSG. I like to hear that. Will check out the Twitter group. And you'll have fun with the Challenge.

    Christine, sorry I was late...

Randi, off the fence and running for the hills!

  134. Damn! I missed the Top 10 movie countdown!!!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Only you could manage to visit everyone on that movie list :D I believe that you DO have clones!

I haven't seen Dark Shadows. I love the old soap, but the preview looked ...well, kind of dumb. And I LOVE Tim Burton. Ah well...thanks for the head's up!

    Jen, just say no.

    Lee, awesome quote!

  138. I've never seen any of the Resident Evils. They look too scary! Though I love Milla Jovovich.

  139. There is some seriously good cover art here today. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Nice covers Alex and if the theme this week is Westerns then I'm magically right in line with the universe by featuring Mari Collier's western/sci-fi themed book Gather the Children.

  142. I'm glad there were other Browncoats around the blogosphere!

I knew Dark Shadows would be bad. Tim Burton just needs to retire.
