Special Updates, Ninja News, Lynda Young and Make Believe, Angela Felsted and Chaste, and the “And You Are…?” Blogfest!

There was a snafu last Friday with the timing of my article at Curiosity Quills Press about the beginnings and purpose of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group. Sharon Bayliss (who has a book coming out soon, The Charge) apologized for the delay, but sometimes these things happen. So if you missed it Friday morning, the article is HERE. Thanks again Sharon for the opportunity to share. (And remember that the next posting for the IWSG is THIS Wednesday!)

One more week until the Ninja dies. Yes, I’ve seen all those comments about roasting and embarrassing me!! But I’m honored and touched by the amount of people who signed up for the blogfest. I’m glad I’ve made a difference to so many. And that you care enough to say something. I guess it takes an embarrassing blogfest thrown in your honor to find out who your real friends are. Thank you.You guys rock.
And if you somehow missed it, read about it HERE.

Make Believe

Lynda R. Young’s short story titled Birthright, published by J. Taylor Publishing in the Make Believe anthology, launched TODAY! Make Believe is currently available in e-book format and includes Paranormal Romance and Fantasy stories inspired by the image on the cover. Congratulations, Lynda!

Birthright by Lynda R. Young
Christa can mask the pain and hide the scars, but running from a birthright is impossible.
She’s tried to escape her grief by fleeing to a small town in Florida. Much to her frustration, the locals think they recognize her even though she's never been there before. To make things worse, a man named Jack spouts outrageous theories about her.
Both spur Christa to bolt, to start fresh yet again, but there’s something about Jack that intrigues her enough to stay. The only problem? Someone else wants her to leave, and they won’t stop until she’s dead.

About Lynda R. Young:
Lynda R. Young lives in Sydney, Australia, with her sweetheart of a husband who is her rock, and a cat who believes world domination starts in the home. She writes speculative short stories and is currently writing novels for young adults. In her spare time she also dabbles in photography and all things creative. Lynda, way to go! You are an amazing writer and dear friend and I couldn’t be more excited for you.

Chaste

Now available – Chaste by Angela Felsted!

When he steps into his physics class on the first day of senior year, Quinn Walker is too exhausted from staying up all night with his three-month-old nephew to deal with moral dilemmas. As a devout Mormon who has vowed to wait until marriage for sex, the last thing he needs is a very hot and very sexy Katarina Jackson as his physics partner. Regrettably, he has no choice.
Kat feels invisible in her mansion of a home six months after losing her older brother in a fatal car crash and will do anything to get her parents? attention. Since her pastor father has no love for Quinn?s ?fake? religion and her ex-boyfriend refuses to leave her alone, she makes an impulsive bet with her friends to seduce her holier-than-thou lab partner by Christmas.

Angela Felsted is a Northern Virginia native who is overly fond of Olive Garden and Red Lobster. She grew up in a faithful Mormon home with three brothers and one sister where she learned to stand up for herself by tickling her attackers until they broke out into laughing fits. “And You Are…?” Blogfest!

Hosted by Emily R King and Tammy Theriault.

We are to answer these questions or David Spade loses his Christmas bonus:

1. How many speeding tickets have you gotten? Two. I’ve been REALLY lucky!

2. Can you pitch a tent? Is that like pitching a story? No? Then no would be my answer.

3. What was your worst vacation ever? Anything involving the woods and tents. That’s what four-star hotels are for.

4. What was the last thing you bought over $100? You really want to know? Splurged this past weekend and purchased a Gibson Les Paul guitar. Yeah, just a little over $100…

5. We're handing you the keys to what? A Bugatti Veyron!!! Hey, it’s my fantasy.

6. What was the last meal cooked that made even you sick? Twenty-five years ago – it involved Tuna Helper. I’ll never touch the stuff again.

7. Fill in the blank: Oh my gosh! Becky, look at her butt! It is so big. She looks like John Goodman in a bikini!

8. What was your first car? A two-door Ford something. One of those crap cars you drive when you’re sixteen.

9. Your best friend falls and gets hurt. Do you ask if he/she's okay or laugh first? My best friend is my wife – if I laugh, I’ll never be allowed in the house again!

10. What's the worst song ever? Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. No explanation needed.

Visit Emily or Tammy for a list of participants or to join us.

Did you finally see the article at Curiosity Quills? Ready for Wednesday’s IWSG? Picking up either Lynda or Angela’s books? And you are…?

On the otherhand I can't really complain as my liking for a certain Irish man.

Congrats to all the talented ninjas!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, my goodness. That WHAM! song. Yes, it was awful and you absolutely *couldn't* escape it at the time. I dive for the radio controls whenever it comes on, these days....

    ReplyDelete
  15. You're funny, and a very good husband. Me? Unless there blood or broken bones, I laugh when someone falls.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congrats to new books and new stories! Lots of them. :)

You're a wise man. Never laugh at your wife, only with her.

  21. Love hearing about all the books being published-- thanks for the thorough updates, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lol, great answers! But, while that is a bad song, Toby Kieth's Every Dog has its Day is the worst song ever. ;)
    Enjoy your guitar!

    ReplyDelete
  23. :P Really? I love that song....just kidding......Thanks for the shout out.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay, that is a bad song.

I loved Chris Sarandon in Fright Night. He was a sexy vampire.

    ReplyDelete
  25. John Goodman in a bikini! *snort*

Yay Lynda and Angela! Two great ladies.

I missed the news about the blogfest. Gotta go check it out.

One of my (They're my kids unless they do something wrong. When they behave badly, they belong to the hubby) boys is a very talented musician. He plays guitar, banjo, and some piano. My daughter Ivy plays violin, mandolin, and guitar. Music reaches waaay down. I bet your guitar is bodacious. (A little over a hundred. Yep.) *ahem*

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go spells YUCK! Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yay for Lynda and Angela. It's a great debut Monday.

And Wham actually has an even more annoying song called Last Christmas. Seasonal misery, if you want to give it a listen. :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good answers Alex. Haven't time right now to do these blog fests.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lydia's book looks incredible. Way to go!

Elise, I probably wouldn't care, either.

    Suzi, agreed!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Congratulations to everyone with new releases!

Ooh, a guitar is never a bad thing to buy...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Wonderful post. I wished I had thought about my car choice a little longer . . and John Goodman in a bikini - I'm not sure whether to scream or laugh really hard or both.
    Congrats to Lynda an Angela!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Your dream car looks something like my brother's. Fast, sporty looking. If he gets one someday I'm sneaking a ride with him.

The end date for my book, that is what you meant, right? It is the 14th of this month. Which feels far too close for everything I need to do right now. *Smirk*

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  63. Michael sure is prolific. Then again so are you. Five books would take me ten years to write. I guess I'll never be a "real" writer cause I'm just too dang slow. Ah well. I'm happy blogging.

Congratulations on the Gibson guitar. Any chance you'd record a snippet for us and allow us to hear you play some?

    ReplyDelete

    John Goodman...excellent!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm not sure I can speak to you again because now I will be spending the REST of the DAY singing "Wake me up before you go go!" It's even worse than It's a Small World!

  97. Hi, Alex! I can see your blush from here about the blogfest. But what a great idea.

Loved hearing about the inception of IWSG. I think I'm going to write about impatience this month.

    ReplyDelete
  98. All warmed up and ready for your blogfest roast. Bet you can't wait!

Here's to Lynda and Angela. May there be much more of their work out there.

Glad your wife is your best friend. Those marriages are the most successful. Congratulations.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Oh my gosh, my mind went somewhere totally different for that 'pitch a tent' question!

And my hubby would totally laugh at me. Then while I was down on the ground, I'd kick his shin or something. That's what best friends do, right? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  100. So many kudos and congrats to dole out (and things to add to an epic fantasy lover's TBR pile!) and places to visit... (Already read the Curiosity Quills post. Nice job!)

Oh, it was probably the tuna rather than the helper. Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm always interested to learn more about people. I love that your wife is your best friend! Now that is a rock hard relationship you have there!

    ReplyDelete

And congrats on the Les Paul! that's a nice guitar!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Wham! definitely weren't on the level of Mozart, but as an Eighties kid, I kind of like their music. The one song I could never stand was "You Were on My Mind," by some oldies one-hit wonder group, We Five.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think I dropped the ball on a blog fest or two this week. Sick kid...nothing to be done about it.

    Tonja, no worries.

Edi, thanks, and amazing things have happened.

    Oh, Cally...

    ReplyDelete

  113. Thanks for the news on these good new books and stories. So much to read!

And sorry, David Spade, but "You Light Up My Life" is the worst song ever written -- not the words so much as that awful funeral dirge-sounding melody.

    ReplyDelete
  114. As always, lots of news and fun information. Thanks, Alex!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Ooh, Veyron! Heck yes!! Although I fear the closest I will get to one is the one I bought on Gran Turismo.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Minor trivia fact- Les Paul comes from the city in Wisconsin that I grew up in, and that's Waukesha. (They're very proud of him). And ditto for the two-door ford car that barely worked, that was my first car too.

  124. Only 2 speeding tickets? I've gotten a few more than that, but I guess that's not too unusual considering all the years I spent on the road. I've done a lot of driving and was often anxious to get to my destination.

  125. Gibson Les Paul guitar? Nice choice! Goodman in a bikini is a scary visual Alex. Why did you put it in my head? Why?!

    ReplyDelete
  126. I'm featuring Angela DURING my IWSG post, how about that?

Regarding your answer to #10 - really Alex, really? You say this right before you KNOW I'm going to be posting all about you on Monday? Reaaaaaaally?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I live in Les Pauls' hometown. ;) Did I jump just a little on the 'cool' factor? :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. John Goodman in a bikini––bahahaha. It would be even better if he danced to Wham while wearing the bikini... and having a harmless gasoline fight at a filling station.

  130. LMAO! Those answers for Tuna Helper and Wham. Geez they are terrible. Though I happen to think that worst song belongs to anything by Toby Keith.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Love your answers in this bloghop. Sorry about your tuna helper and I'll let you in my imaginary castle if you let me be a passenger in your cool imaginary car. And thanks for all the news. You really keep us both entertained and informed.

  135. Buy yourself an expensive new toy and you just gotta share how you put it to use. The blogfest seems a good time for your musical debut . . .

I'm with you on the tent thing.

Lots of stuff always going on over here. So much chewing gum for the brain.

  140. Interesting answers, that car looks fantastic! 2 speeding tickets? I have had 2 in the last 5 years and before that I would have had 20 years without one, but when I was younger I got a few.

Congrats to all those with new releases! All the best!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ciara, that sounds good to me.

  142. Who is this John Goodman dude?
I love Wham! Choose Life t-shirts... who can forget them?
I can do without the flies, mosquitoes and other unnamed creepy crawlies that accompany tent-life... not for me thanks!
And I wondered if your over-$100-purchase-answer would involve a guitar...

I'm looking forward to Monday's blogfest... countdown to death of a ninja... *cue jaws-styled evil music*

    ReplyDelete
  159. Sorry to be so late to the party, Alex. There's such a great diversity of books out there to catch up on.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I loved your answers! I read your article on the CQ site, but it was damn near impossible to leave a comment, so I gave up. They are my publisher--hope it's not that hard to comment allll the time, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  162. You're gonna be bright red after this Ninja blogfest Alex, hehe. Bugatti Veyron is probably the best sports car the world has ever seen. This thing moves like a rocket, so you have to remember when speeding, the beast needs road to stop.

    ReplyDelete
  163. David, hope something great comes from it!

    Robyn, you are never late.

    Natasha, I know better.

Jamie, what a shame! Let them know, as I've had no problems commenting.

Spacerguy, it is THE sports car. And yes, I will be Rudolph come Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Now I'm recalling my crap car from my teenage years. Fun blog hop.

    It's great seeing Lynda everywhere.

I bookmarked Angela's book. I hope to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Haha--Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go is pretty bad. What a strange pop culture phenomenon.

    ReplyDelete
  166. No camping? *Gasps* I've always done a ton of camping, and those are some of my favorite vacations. I'm trying to convince my husband to do a long weekend hike of part of the Appalachian trail. Someday...
