April Movies!

We’ve got movie sign!
All plot descriptions courtesy of the IMDB

1 -

Source Code
Director: Duncan Jones
Stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga
The Plot: An experimental government program sends soldier Colter Stevens (Gyllenhaal) back in time, where he wakes up in the body of a commuter who witnesses a train bombing. Presented with just 8 minutes to figure out who is responsible, his mission is further complicated by his feelings for a fellow passenger (Monaghan).
Looks interesting…

Hop
Director: Tim Hill
Stars: Russell Brand, James Marsden, Elizabeth Perkins
The Plot: A slacker (Marsden) who accidentally hits the Easter Bunny (Brand) with his car is forced to care for his victim, who turns out to be the world's worst houseguest
Something about this movie seems odd, but not sure what.

5 -

DVD - Tron: Legacy - boxed set is MINE!

8 -

Hanna
Director: Joe Wright
Stars: Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, Eric Bana
The Plot: A 16-year-old (Ronan) who was raised by her father (Bana) is dispatched on a mission across Europe, tracked by a ruthless intelligence agent (Blanchett) and her operatives.
Looks gritty and intense.

Your Highness
Director: David Gordon Green
Stars: Danny McBride, Zooey Deschanel, James Franco
The Plot: A fantasy-comedy about an arrogant, lazy prince (McBride) who must complete a quest in order to save his father's kingdom.
Potentially stupid, but we’ll see.

DVD - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - buying this one as well.

15 -

Rio
Director: Carlos Saldanha
Stars: Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez
The Plot: When Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams.
Another fun animated flick.

DVD - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - like I need to tell you this!

19 -

DVD - The King’s Speech - still want to see this movie!

22 -

Apollo 18
Director: Gonzalo López-Gallego
Stars: Unknown
The Plot: Decades-old found footage from an abandoned NASA mission to the moon reveals the existence of alien life.
Sources say this movie is being rushed. Notice the lack of a cast? Not a good sign!

29 -

Fast Five
Director: Justin Lin
Stars: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson
The Plot: A federal agent (Johnson) is dispatched to Rio de Janeiro, where former cop Brian O'Conner (Walker) an ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) are assembling a final race as a desperate chance to gain their freedom.
I confess – I dig these films!

Any look good to you?

  1. The premise for Apollo 18 has potential, but as you say, a dearth of cast and info seems to spell "direct to DVD". Looking forward to Source Code.

    ReplyDelete

  18. So far I've seen none of these but several do look pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think "Source Code" looks interesting. "Hannah" looks too scary for me, although I think it sounds interesting, too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. King's Speech and Hanna most definitely. I'm a total movie addict. Also looking forward to Super 8.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Source Code and Hanna. And how could anyone not want to see Rio - it's got a toucan!

I still want to see The King's Speech, too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wish I had time for more movies, but baseball season starts for real this week!!!

  23. Source Code sounds a lot like Denzel Washington's Deja Vu.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Charles, most haven't been released yet, so that's all right.

Elizabeth, Hanna is only PG13, so can't be too intense.

    LG, me too!

Carol, it fits well for you!

Monticello, you are a dedicated fan.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Fast Five! I didn't know there was going to be another one of these. Yeah, I'm hooked, too. Must have something to do with Paul Walker.

Thanks for the good news, Alex! Hope you have a fantastic week.:)

  26. Is Hop a horror movie? It looks really creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Looking forward to seeing Harry Potter.
Your Highness looks like a see when its free movie.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Your Highness is my looking forward to it movie for April. Rio looks cute too! And definitely need to get HP!
I looked for your movie post for this weekend, did you see anything? Was interested to know if you did! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I want to see Rio and Hop- I think I will take my girls to see Hop for sure though- it looks entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The Code and Hanna, look good to me. I love adventure sorts. Have you seen Unstoppable? Oh my gosh, talk about the edge of your seat excitment!

I also have been wanting to see The King's Speach. Just haven't managed it so far.

Your Highness looks interesting. My guys want to see it. I'll watch it but if it gets too stupid I'll find something else to do.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I fell asleep during the first TRON. :) I want to see Source Code. Looks interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is an interesting list....
Is it weird that, of all the pictures included, I'm the most curious about Hop?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks for the lineup. I'm running so behind with films; just saw The Blind Side over the weekend, and only b/c my mother in law gave me her copy. Perhaps I should get out more...she did also give me Secretariat, so have that to watch too. That's me, living life on the edge in KY...

    Happy Monday!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love action movies so all the assassin/code ones look great!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I KNOW---I've got to see King's Speech too. I went to an Oscar party and whenever the movie was mentioned, everyone in the room sighed. Except me, I thought about leaving right then and going to see the movie instead of watching the boring Oscars.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Other than Apollo 18, none of new releases tripped my trigger.

Waiting breathlessly for Tron and HP though. Hubba hubba.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm looking forward to Your Highness just because it reminds me of the Princess Bride.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The King's Speech is awesome.

    Denise<3

    ReplyDelete
  39. I smiled when I saw Tron there. What about Sucker Punch? I can't wait to hear your review. I haven't seen it yet, the plot sounds Alice and Wonderlandish. Ugh...

  40. Cheeseboy, just might be!

Colene, spent weekend out of town with wife, so no movie.

    Sia, saw it last fall!

    Andrew, that is curious!

    Karen, both good movies.

    Elizabeth, no movie this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Fast Five sounds cool. I'll be avoiding Your Highness because the jokes are crass. I like the concept behind Source Code and of course I love almost any animated movie.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Source Code looks like the pick of the bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Source Code does look good; I also want to see The King's Speech. Colin is a great actor! Hanna really looks scary! Hop looks odd...

Hope you had a happy weekend~

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm digging on Hanna and Your Highness, Hop, too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm mostly looking forward to Harry P - I don't remember why, but I didn't get to see it in theaters. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm going to take my daughter to see Hop. I am excited because james Marsden is in it and I LOVE me some James Marsden! I think your feeling about it is because the rabbit poops jellybeans.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Would love to see Hop and Hanna combined... Rabbit Slayer by Birth :)
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow

  48. Source Code is the one that intrigues me the most. Time travel and the previews look pretty good.

  49. I think the race movies are a guy thing but that's quite a cast. Will any of us in A-Z have time to watch movies?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Apollo 18 and Source Code will make my list. Maybe Hanna. Out on the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks for the reviews. I'm looking forward to seeing Fast Five with our two teenage boys. I'm also looking forward to visiting your blog during the A to Z Challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Source Code has promise, but I just don't get Jake Gyllenhaal. Looks like a role anyone could play.

I'll take the kids to see Hop and Rio.

Still haven't seen King's Speech but everyone says its a great movie. It'll probably slip away and I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD and I'll watch it with wifey for date night.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ella, Hop does look odd...

    Abby, that might be it!

Jules, you have the next big blockbuster!

    Susan, I will make time.

    Thanks, Kelly!

Stephen, it'll be a rental for me as well.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dawn Treader and Harry are both coming home with me!!!

As for going to see any, my hubby wants to see Source Code. It does look interesting, as does Hannah.

Hop will either be cute and funny, or really stupid, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I didn't see HP, or The Dawn Treader--so I'm definitely looking forward to those. Source Code sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I really meant to see "King's Speech" in theaters, but never got around to do it. So I was delighted when it was one of the choices on my recent flight from Asia. The problem was I was so exhausted I fell asleep! I still think it looked like a good movie, though, so I'd like to see it - but not on a plane...

I'm also curious about the Easter Bunny one. I have a weird feeling it might be quite similar to "Alvin and the Chipmunks", though...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Pretty lukewarm on these kid ones... the thriller and sci-fi sets look good though... I am waiting for Harry Potter, i think--I am somehow convinced I will get the boxed set for Christmas with BOTH parts... (even if it has to come from Santa)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thanks for the list. It troubles me that Apollo 18 is being 'rushed' and not much anticipated from it. Too bad, it comes from a fine line of predecessor related shows.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Source Code, Hanna, Your Highness look good.

Hop doesn't. Or the other Russell Brand sure-fire dud Arthur. That will be awful.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 'Your Highness' looks like I would dig it the most.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I loved the heartwarming story of the King's Speech. Made me laugh and made me cry.

    Lisa

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'll probably end up renting Source Code eventually.

But now that I know Saorise Ronan is in Hanna, that might have just bumped to the top of my list.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Words, I agree on Hop.

    Cruella, that's not good!

    Hart, have you been good???

Ty, the remake does look awful.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thanks. You always come up with some I've never heard of. Sometimes I wonder which signals a bad movie - over promotion or no promotion at all.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh, I want to see Source Code and Hanna! Hop looks cute, but how odd that Russel Brand is the voice of the bunny.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I still haven't gotten to see Paul yet. So many movies but the price, yow. We usually go on the cheap night, or wait for Netlix, the Blue Box or the Red Box.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sounds like some good movies. Maybe not great movies, except a couple out on DVD, but worth watching. I heard about Apollo 18 a while back, it will be interesting to see if it's any good or not.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Helen, I can think of a lot of bad movies that were over-promoted.

    Carolina, Hop just looks odd.

Tony, I'm not holding my breath on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Source Code, Apollo 18 and Your Highness are on my to watch list. I'd recommend Limitless too - it's a damn fine movie :) Apollo 18 looks to be pretty bad (but hopefully in a good way) and Your Highness has a certain Miss Portman in it, so it's gonna be awesome no matter what ;)

    ReplyDelete
  70. I just saw the previews for Hannah last night and "whoa! what is this?" looks awesome!
Your Highness is a must. James Franco, dude.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jamie, you're smitten with Portman, aren't you?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh man! I have to find the time to watch all these movies! But with the A-Z challenge coming up, I might just end up watching them on dvd.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anything Saoirse Ronan does is amazing. She's a wonderful, natural actor, at such a young age.
