Movie Quotes Blogfest!

I'm appearing at the blog of Alison Pearce Stevens today!

It's the Top Ten Horror/Science Fiction Movie Quotes Blogfest, hosted by iZombie and Ellie Garratt

I’m a movie fanatic and can quote a lot of films. Narrowing it down to ten was difficult, but here are my favorites in no particular order. (Wonder if we get bonus points if we match someone else?)

Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting"
Wash: Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
- from Serenity

Mike: Putting the men's room in the tower, what was I thinking?
- from Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie

Max: Two days ago, I saw a vehicle that would haul that tanker. You want to get out of here? You talk to me.
- from The Road Warrior

Ash: That's right... who's laughing now... who's laughing now?
- from Evil Dead II

John: All major theme parks have had delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked!
Ian: But, John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists.
- from Jurassic Park

Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over!
- from Aliens

Jack Burton: Are you crazy... Is that your problem?
- from Big Trouble in Little China

Crow T. Robot: Hey, Mike, you think you can toss me my calculations? Thanks! Ah, here it is. "Breach Hull - All Die." Even had it underlined.
- from Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie

Batty: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die.
- from Blade Runner

Gwen: Look! I have one job on this lousy ship, it's stupid, but I'm gonna do it! Okay?
- from Galaxy Quest

So, what’s your favorite movie quote?

Big thanks to Jeffrey at World of the Scribe for his fantastic nine out of ten review of CassaStar!

  2. Galaxy Quest! I love that movie! One of my favorite ones: "Well, I got nowhere else to go, the ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce. All I got left is my bones." from the new Star Trek

  3. I have a Serenity quote, too! And love Big Trouble in Little China - a tucked-in-tank on guy never looked so good ~ :) Great list - Jurassic Park, Alien...and yay to the King of Kitsch (in a good way) - Bruce C! Thanks for sharing ~

  8. One of my favourites for sheer awfulness, so bad, pointless, and delivered with an excess of hammed-up contempt that my wife & I can't help but join in whenever we see that part of the movie:

"You rebel scum" - soldier in Return of the Jedi.

My award for brevity, and again the tone makes it:

"Oops" - Trudy appearing out of the mist and firing on the gunship in Avatar.

  9. from THe Thing: "YOu've got to be effing kidding me"

  11. No bonus points between our lists. Most of my quotes come from olders movies, but I'm sure that won't surprise anyone. Some great quotes on yours. Am I surprised that one of yours comes from Serenity?

  15. I did wonder how you would have chosen ten quotes - you watch so many movies.

Game over, man! I love that line; it always makes me laugh. Thank you for taking part.

    ReplyDelete
  26. There's no way I could remember movie quotes...unless, of course we're talking a Disney movie I've seen 500 times and could recite backwards. But those wouldn't be "favorites" at all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Great quotes! My mom and I used to be able to quote a ton of lines from the movie Tremors. I was home from school with the flu and we watched that movie over and over and worked on puzzles. Good memories!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hello! Good list - I'd forgotten that classic line from Jurassic Park. I love the way Galaxy Quest is popping on several lists - I didn't consider it despite it being one of my fave films: 'It's a rock! It doesn't have motivation!'

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think I could make a whole top ten Mal quotes from Firefly - he had some fantastic lines!!! :)

    ReplyDelete

Margo, thank you!!! I'm glad you did.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OMG I can't believe I forgot Jurrasic Park!! That is one of my favorite movies of all time. And Mystery Science Theatre 3000 the movie is one of my favorites. I just love it. I think I need to own that one. Thanks for the reminder of these great movies!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Blade Runner and Serenity are definitely winning - they crop up everywhere (must the quality of the writing.)

    ReplyDelete
  39. MsHatch, I had a lot of quotes in mind for Big Trouble.

    Mara, there were too many!

Stephen, the whole list could've been MST3K.

Donna, that was the first quote that came to my mind!

Dempsey, us movie fiends could've made a list of thousands...

Abby, you need to purchase MST3K then!

Elaine, yes they seem to be on everyone's list.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jack Burton's best quote has got to be "It's all in the reflexes".

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jurassic Park, totally forgot about that awesome line.

This is the second blog I've seen a Serenity quote but never seen the movie, now I've got to go check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Alex-

We both had the same Jurassic Park quote-but it's a classic.

I can't belive I did not think of Serenity-there's a million of them in that movie.

I am a leaf on the wind...

  43. A great list Alex. I love reading things like this, though I don't get to watch the films unless they're on the TV.

    yVONNE.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I only recognise one in this list - the Jurassic Park one. But I love it!

Hmm... off the top of my head I can think of a lot favourite quotes from the animated MADAGASCAR movies!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Great list! How could I have forgotten Evil Dead? I think Netflix is going to have a sci-fi/horror boom from this blogfest!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies! I also love the Jurassic Park reference.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ricky, it was difficult to select just one.

Kimberly, it seems to be THE movie for this fet - you've got to watch it!

Disc, that's a good one as well.

Yvonne, some of these are older movies, so you might see them on TV.

Rachel, add some bloodshed and Madagascar might have qualified for the list!

Witless, I bet it will as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Excellent quotes, Alex. And that review wouldn't have been made possible if you hadn't written CassaStar.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Serenity has some great lines. The whole Firefly series was loaded with them. Still haven't forgiven them for not giving that show a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  50. great list, great minds think alike. By Grabthor's hammer.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Love Galaxy Quest! I should have put it on my list but I wasn't on the ball, I guess. And I'm glad to see another person put Jurassic Park on the list. It's a big favorite in the house although it doesn't make my personal top ten. (I paid $70 for the original 'Summer 1993' promo poster as a Christmas gift!)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sad to admit I haven't seen a couple of these movies, but I'd totally forgotten about Jurassic Park.
The original Evil Dead is one of my favs, but I couldn't think of any memorable quotes from that one. Yay for Galaxy Quest!

    ReplyDelete
  53. My favorite quotes are from comedies. Like this one from Groundhog Day"

"Ned, I would love to stay here and talk with you... but I'm not going to"

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love that Serenity and Jurassic Park and MST3K on your list. Fantastic quotes all!

    ReplyDelete

    Thanks, MJ!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Are you crazy? Is that your problem?

    Gotta love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Where's the LIKE button? I wish I had the kind of mind that remembers great quotes... Love yours, definately!

    ReplyDelete
  59. That 'Blade Runner' quote is the number one of all time I think. You can't claim to be a geek if you don't know it by heart.

    My second favorite - Predator

    "Why'd you pass on Libya?"

    "Oh, just wasn't my style."

"You GOT no style Dutch. Come on, why'd you pass?"

"We a rescue team. Not assassins."

    ReplyDelete
  60. She Writes - that's right!

    Thanks Tessa - appreciate that!

    Lynda, yes it does.

Kal, not losing my geek card! And wish I'd had room for a Predator quote.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Haha, I've seen Galaxy Quest quoted almost as many times as Star Wars in this blogfest. It was really a great movie. Nice list!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Such a great list! Forgot about Galaxy Quest too!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Excellent list! But I'm not surprised. We have several of the same movies and I almost, almost went with your Jurassic Park quote. So close. It's such a great one!

    ReplyDelete
  64. a.j.

  65. Renee, I think Galaxy Quest and Serenity win.

Jennie, we both have great taste.

Jeremy, thanks for hosting this fest!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I can't believe you remember all these lines - and character names. The only one of these I remember is the Jurassic Park one. I haven't been awake too long ... I barely remember my name.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh God that's so hard - I don't think I could pick A favourite movie quote! Love some of the ones you've got on here.

Hmm... I love a lot of quotes from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Jack Sparrow never fails to crack me up. Jurassic Park and Serenity also have some great lines... No, it's useless. I can't pick one.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Great quotes! Not a horror flick, but Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men" (I think) - his classic response to snotty-nosed Harvard Grad marine officer/lawyer's (played by Tom Cruise) request, "I want the truth" - when Nicholson said, "You can't HANDLE the truth!"

    ReplyDelete
  69. Serenity is one of my faves! I'm a movie junkie. No one wants to watch Star Wars with me because I know every line in the film. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  70. Dang! How is it I missed this blogfest? Too fun!

A lot of my favorite lines need the visual/audio to make them funny.

    "MmmGuy" - Galaxy Quest

    "Auto washshshsh" - Fifth Element

"Leelou Dallas, multi pass. Mu-ulti passs" - Fifth Element

"Gimme the cashshsh" - Fifth Element

"Zero stones. Zero crates!" - Fifth Element

Do you get the idea I love Fifth Element? I bet I could come up with a lot more great ones if I thought about it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. This fest was right up your alley, eh?

My fave is not horror/sci-fi. I bet you can guess the movie, though:

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I can quote that entire movie. Much to hubs, and the kiddies, dismay.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Loved the Jurassic Park and Serenity quotes (and of course the Blade Runner one, I picked that one too)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oh yeah and Road Warrior! Awesome! I think you are the first to remember that movie.

    ReplyDelete
  74. What a great list of quotes. Love these. Thanks for the memories. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Carol, most days I do good to remember my own name!

Sangu, my original list was much longer than this.

Marvin, had that been allowed, that quote would definitely be on the list.

Ciara, Serentity was very popular in this fest.

Ali, the multi-pass one cracks me up every time!

Tara, The Princess Bride! And what's wrong with knowing every line?

Margo, you're right, I don't remember another Road Warrior line...

    ReplyDelete
  76. The ability of men to remember quotes from movies never ceases to amaze (and amuse) me. :)

My all-time favorite movie is The Princess Bride. One of my favorite quotes is from Vizzini: "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"!" (Yes, I had to look that up.) :)

Thanks for sharing your marketing experiences on my blog today!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Great quotes! I really wanted to participate in this but school is kicking my rump on the weekends and during the week. Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I loved Galaxy Quest!

My favorite movie quotes are all from The Princess Bride, probably. There's really too many memorable to mention.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That is my favorite quote from Galaxy Quest!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Alison, thanks for inviting me! And The Princess Bride is a great movie.

    Summer, kick it back.

Carolina, the whole movie is one great quote.

Alexis, I almost forgot it, too!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I pretty much love some of these too! Great choices!

    ReplyDelete
  82. These are really good!
    "we're all going to die!"

    ReplyDelete
  83. Of these. like the Jurassic Park one the best. In general, love to quote The Princess Bride. There are so many useful ones there!

    ReplyDelete
  84. oh, oh, oh!... great list and great comments! ANYTHING ever said by Kaylee Frye in Serenity or Firefly is practically priceless. Very well written.

I lean more towards being able to still quote the classic Star Wars movies and these are my favorites:

    "That's no moon..."

    and

    "I know."

But I cringe for every, "delusions of grandeur" and "I've got a bad feeling about this..."

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thanks Doo and Pat!

Karen, that whole movie is a great quote.

Bryan, you know your Star Wars! And Kaylee's "nickers" comment was someone's pick.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Great list. I love the Blade Runner quote best. Great movie.

My fave movie quote: 'Here's lookin' at you kid.' from the late great Humphrey Bogart.

    Off to catch your interview.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Love that JP line. classic!!! I'm off to check ya out. Wait that didn't come out right!

    ReplyDelete
  88. We love to quote movies at my home, and we have to guess where, too! (Our range comes from Walt Disney to Jim Hensen, Lol)

    ReplyDelete
  90. i LOL'd at the Jurassic park quote

    ReplyDelete
  91. Good one, Denise.

Copyboy, I know what you meant.

Writing, you have to see Serenity!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Great quotes and great movies make a powerful combination. "Big Trouble in Little China" is one of my cult favorites. It even inspired a video game character from Mortal Kombat!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Great quotes!

Still laughing over the Serenity one :D

I quote movies all the time, much to the enjoyment (er...annoyance) of my family.

    ~Jen

    ReplyDelete
  94. My favorite one is the Aliens quote. In fact, I use it all the time to annoy my kids at random moments LOL. My all time favorite though is this:

"I was pondering the immortal words of Socrates who said...I drank what?"

    Real Genius - Val Kilmer.

    ReplyDelete
  95. These are great quotes! I'm SO glad you quoted Big Trouble in Little China! That movie is outrageous, and I keep asking people whether they've seen it but NO ONE HAS. Except you. You're cool.

    ReplyDelete
  96. "Putting the men's room in the tower, what was I thinking?" from MST3K is my favorite from your list! I wish I remembered it for my list.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Maurice, I didn't know that!

Eric, that movie has a ton of great lines as well!

Mandarin, I try to be cool.

Reid, that's great! It's not a movie many have seen, either.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I wanted to participate in this Blog Fest, but I just couldn't get it together in time to do it. Oh well!

    You have some good ones.

That Jurassic Park quote is funny, but it has ALWAYS bothered me.

    Disneyland opened in 1955.
