Lighthouse Stop and Movie Tidbits

Next stop in the tour is today at Edi’s Book Lighthouse!!!

For those of you who enjoy Science Fiction, fantasy, and the like. Edi’s site is fantastic. His weekend posts round up books, movies, the web – you name it! Please do stop and say hello to my German friend. You’ll really dig his site.

How to Train Your Dragon came out on DVD Friday. Did you get your copy? Why not? I got mine! And guess what? According to our very own Hollywood Spy, a sequel is in the works, due out in 2012.
Now, go get your DVD. Trust me!

According to Blastr DC superheroes will not team up for a super movie. DC’s chief creative officer stated at NY Comic-Con that DC superheroes were bigger than Marvel’s, so there’s no need to put them together for a movie. What do you think? Cocky or lame?

I think Marvel, Iron Man, and the rest of the Avengers might laugh all the way to the bank.

Don’t forget to enter my CONTEST for a chance to win a copy of CassaStar – or enter Scribbler to Scribe’s contest. Or both!!

  1. I, myself, would love to see a movie made of the Frank Miller graphic novel, THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS (detailing the last year of Batman's life, ending with a duel to the death between Superman {a pawn of a fascist America} and Batman.)

That would be a movie that would draw in millions at the box office. If you haven't read it, Alex, you should pick up a copy

  8. I'm not actually all that much of a superhero fan, but I've gotten pretty fond of superhero movies, so I say bring it on. The more the merrier!

  11. Wow, are they a little bitter at DC? For my money, Batman trumps them all, but that doesn't make Stan Lee any less of a character genious!
I read Batman Returns years ago, and would love to see it again -- thanks for the title, RDY.

  12. HI Alex,

Will it be alright if I have to post about your CassaStar book now? Am afraid I won't be able to do it on the 19th as Super Typhoon Juan is expected to hit our town/country tomorrow...and if that happens, all power and net will be down!

Please let me know if it will be alright! Soonest please. Thanks Alex!

  13. I did get my HTTYD copy ;)

DC are like little ants, compared to Marvel.

    Now off to Edi’s blog...

  14. The kids and I saw "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3-D and loved it! It wasn't one that I was really expecting to like, but I was really caught up in it.

  15. Roland, the Dark Knight series is amazing.

Chris, tell us how you really feel!

    Cheeseboy, knew you'd enjoy it!

Thanks, Kitty! I just read it myself. I hope it encourages more people to check it out that might not otherwise read science fiction.

    Cruella - yeah!!

Edi, thanks again - just jumped over to read it.

    Oh Amity!! That's fine.

Elizabeth, it caught me by surprise as well.

And for those who commented earlier, the review is up now!!

  16. I love DC much more than Marvel and support their cockiness :)))
And, Alex, we really must get us a pair of dragons so that we would have something to train when the second film comes out.
I was just watching ERAGON again last night, and watching Safira it really made me wish for my own pet dragon.

  17. I'll have to check out that blog and give the film a viewing. Saw the trailer. The CG looks pretty incredible. FYI...DC is dumb for saying that.

  21. I LOVED How to Train Your Dragon! So glad to know they're doing a sequel, yay!

  22. thanks for the heads up on The Lighthouse stop, and the Dragon release.

Dez: read Eragon - all three books - and enjoyed them immensely. But the movie left out too much, and changed too much else, for my taste. I didn't care for it. What can I say, I almost always prefer a book to a movie.

  23. Now an official follower of Edi's site; good stuff. And hey, any plans to make Cassastar available on Kindle?

I've always been a big fan of Batman. No reason for him to share the spotlight with anybody, particularly the Man of Steel.

  24. Didn't get the movie...yet. Saw it twice in the theater. DID get the HTTYD DS game for my son's 6th birthday this weekend. Does this count?

  25. Sangu, me too!

Donna, I think most movies fall short. LOTR was a rarity.

Milo, it's already available for the Kindle! Link is listed above under the tab CassaStar and I'll post it on Tuesday as well.

    Kelley, close enough for now!

  29. I havent seen the dragon dvd but I've heard good things about it.

And no I don't think superheroes should team up. They always appear weaker than than are when they do.
Am I making sense? I'm still sick. I'll blame that for any incoherentness.

  30. I've not had much interest in the DC super groups, but the Avengers is gonna be a damn awesome movie!!

I'm looking forward to Dragon 2 aswell :)
