Underworld

Continuing the A-Z Challenge from Arlee at Tossing it Out

Today is U - Underworld!!

Yes, another big surprise.

Rather than go into the first three movies - or my fascination with Kate Beckinsale - - thought I'd give you an update on Underworld 4.

The rumors are thick. There's no director yet, but Kate Beckinsale is 99% confirmed. Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy are also rumored, but since they both died in the first movie, I'm not really sure how their presence could be justified. (Maybe they have small roles in flashbacks?)

The release date was going to be January 21, 2011, but it has been pushed back to September 23, 2011.

io9 reports that Kate will return with two daughters in tow - and that it will be set in space!

Underworld 4 Trailer's site agrees that the movie will be in 3D and it's not a prequel. They also state movie trailer is coming soon...

Any wild speculations? Maybe if it's twenty years in the future, the space thing might be plausible. No confirmation that Scott Speedman will return - so what happened to Michael during that time? Will Victor really return from the dead?

Do you have a series of movies that you follow this closely? And why?

  2. I'd like to see both Speedman and Rhona Mitra in the fourth installment.

I loved THE MUMMY series, but was disappointed with the latest part, which wasn't directed by Stephen Sommers. Also, everyone knows my favourite franchise is the epic one - ELIZABETH and ELIZABETH THE GOLDEN AGE.

  3. Hmph, I thought about doing Underworld for today. :-)

Love these movies. But 20 years doesn't really equal space, now, does it? Unless they have their own secret vampire technology.

But I'll be seeing it regardless.

I'm shamefully addicted to the Resident Evil movies, even though the last one was awful. :-)

  4. Mission Impossible and Spiderman (altho not really addicted & I was kinda bored by the last one).

  6. I can't think of a movie series that I follow. I used to follow the Star Wars movies, and I still see the Star Trek movies when they come out. Lordy, I'm rather boring, aren't I?

  7. My favorite series is Dexter, a serial killer who kills serial killers. Its a dark humor series actually. I followed Heroes. Now I'm renting and taping Fringe.

Your cover looks great! If your going to do blog interviews or a blog tour, keep me in mind. Itd be great to have you as a guest.

  8. There are 4 Underworlds? I had no idea.

I get very excited when a Borne movie comes out. That is the only series I can think of.

  9. I don't really have a series of films I follow... I'm more into art-house, indies and one-offs.

    Have a great weekend Alex!

  11. I seriously doubt I'd bother seeing it if it didn't have Scott Speedman in it. He's my trade off for letting my husband watch any movie in which Beckinsale wears a leather bustier.

  12. Dez, the final Mummy did fall flat.

Summer, I have no idea how they will do it. And the Resident Evil movies have been dumb but fun. Mila is easy on the eyes, too.

Karen, the last Spiderman had too much stuff to follow anything!

Helen, if you no longer follow Star Wars, then that is probably a good thing.

Stephen, thanks so much! I would be honored.

Cheeseboy, the Borne series is really good.

    Will, you said it!

Raquel, that sounds like a fair trade.

  15. Hi,
I don't follow any films but I have several tevee shows that I follow. House, CSI Vegas, and I did follow Monk until it went off. I guess I am more of a TV person because movies have become so expensive to go to. and we live on a fixed income. I find it very interesting, though, to read about them.

  18. I saw Underworld (I think), but I had no idea there was a 2 & 3.

I guess I followed the Terminator movies, although I didn't see the last one yet and I followed the Matrix movies.
And I usually see all the superhero movies, but I must say I don't really keep up too much with many movies at all.

  19. I loved all the Mummies but the last as well, and I liked the first Underworld, but must claim ignorance--didn't know there were 2 others and going to be a fourth! I am learning so much from my SciFi buddies.

  24. Underworld is one of those under appreciated series I love, but I hope those rumors of Underworld 4 are false. The whole space thing doesn't sound like a good idea to me, plus it doesn't make sense in the series. Also adding kids to a film always camps things up. Underworld really needs to retain it's Gothic gore aspect.

I'm glad Kate's returning to this series since I've been rather disappointed with a lot of her films as of late (personally I think her pre-Underworld stuff is the best ex. Cold Comfort Farm & Haunted).
