Movie Trailer Disappointment

I caught Daybreakers on Sunday. Interesting concept for a vampire flick. Lots of gore - always a plus - but the ending did sag a bit.

What was really disappointing were the movie trailers accompanying this flick. Daybreakers is a horror film, so I expected to see horror movie trailers. But there wasn't a single one! The three trailers were all for thrillers. And the sad thing - I couldn't even tell you what they were! That's not a good sign.

Do you ever feel sometimes the movie industry just doesn't understand its audience?

In other news...
Avatar was #1 at the box office yet again, taking in over $50 million dollars this past weekend. It now sits at $1.3 billion dollars worldwide. That is just mind-blowing!

  1. How disappointing about Daybreakers. I suspected as much, though. So many times the trailer or commercials show the only good parts of a movie, and the rest is lacking.

Only one time that I can remember have I gone to the movies and saw trailers that were actually of the same genre of the movie. I wonder if the movie industry even CARES about understanding its audience.

  2. What's the worst is when they show trailers for DUMB comedies - those that would insult a ten year old but are aimed at adults. Just makes me cringe.

  3. Seems to me that trailer was also deceptive. I'm not much on gore (I miss most of the movie 'cause I'm hunkered down in the seat with my hands over my eyes), so if I went based on the trailer, I would not be happy.

I'm glad to see Avatar still has legs. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

And Daybreakers was pretty damn bloody.

  5. Glad you give candid and honest reviews. I've been amazed often at how misleading a trailer can be. some movie trailers I've seen convinced me I would NOT like a movie, then on recommendation of several others I went to see it and liked it - nothing even LIKE what the trailer led me to beleive it was!

  6. Sometimes I'll see a trailer after I've watched the movie and I can't believe they were the same film!

  7. I agree - Daybreakers was good up until the ending. There was so much potential there!
