Can you believe it’s almost four years since my first book? Following the awesome Elizabeth? Picking up the new books? Played any good games lately? And what do you remember best about 2010…?
I’m also posting at the A to Z Blog today. Hope you’re keeping tabs on the site, because there’s been some good information.
And I am doing my best to keep up with the posts and comments, but forgive me if I miss your post. IWSG day was just a bit overwhelming...
So houses were like 100x more expensive than in 1974. That's kind of insane.

ReplyDeleteThe Burj Khalifa is insanely tall, and I love the way it looks. I saw a stunning photo of Dubai that was taken at night, and fog had descended on the city. The city lights made the fog glow, and the Burj Khalifa towered above it all. It was a beautiful piece of photography. The photographer's name is Daniel Cheong, just in case anyone wants to look up his work.

I love Daft Punk. Been a fan for years. Harder, better is one of my fave songs by them (not the Kanye version). Inception and How to Train your Dragon were mind blowing. Watched them at home but I will be see Dragon 2 in theatres this year. Liz rocks and so glad her boys turned to God. Congrats on your novel being nearly four years old Alex. That's what happens when you go for your dreams.

I listen to daft punk but can't say they are my favourites - I prefer the bands from 70's to 90's. Inception was a cool movie and Iron man was entertaining.

ReplyDeleteWow good for you and writing was your calling! I have seen some of the films but not all Inception was quite good. 2010 was not the best year but memorable. My mom went downhill with dementia and lived with us. My spouse found out he could never work again due to his rheumatoid arthritis. he wanted to attend school but it was too much with all the stress and his severe ADHD. Yup not a great year...but it passed, like a kidney stone but it did pass:)

2010 was a great year for movies with Inception being at the top of my list, followed by Tangled (such a great movie!)

ReplyDeleteLet's see...2010...oh yeah, that was the year I became eligible to retire from Federal Gov't. service...but still at it (because my first book just came, instead of four years ago!)
Saw original Tron in theaters, loved it then. Legacy, yeah not so much but then watched original and yeah, not so much.
Latest books: Sirens The Sirens of Titans (Vonnegut) Banana Bamboozle (Becky Clark) just finished The Great Floodgates of the Wonderworld (Justin Hocking) and The Assassin's Heart (J.A. Kazimer.)

ReplyDeleteI'm playing catch up as wasn't home much to blog! Today will be devoted only to blogging and blog hopping! I get my years so mixed up sometimes, it's hard to remember what I liked best about any of them, lol. I think the things that "marked" me the most about 2010 were that my children left home and we became empty-nesters, cried for two weeks, then our lovely dog Laydi, decided if the kids were gone, she wasn't hanging around either and so left us, and then we had a lovely young Frenchman named Gael (he's in the friends video on my A to Z "A" post)come to spend three fantastic weeks with us. I cried when he went home...

ReplyDelete2010--what a great year for movies. Inception and Tron...yes! In January 2010 I made a new years resolution to write a book (never thought about being a writer before...it was more of a bucket list item). I started writing and couldn't stop. Great year. :)

ReplyDeleteSometimes a total or radical rewrite is just what a really old manuscript needs. Depending on the state of the original, sometimes you can't just work around what's already there.

ReplyDelete2010 was the year my sister and I took my nephew on his Make a Wish trip to Orlando. We stayed at Give Kids the World (absolutely amazing place), and got to check out Disney, Universal, and Sea World. Mickey's handler gave Mickey a pin to give my nephew. To this day, he says Mickey is his best friend. Cannot wait to take them back!

Seriously, the first iPad was released in 2010?! It seems like they have been around so much longer than that! I really like your retro theme this year.

I'm going to rent Inception. We watched it at the movies and that's the only time I saw it. Great flic!
ReplyDeleteLoved Inception, but even more than that, I still adore Tangled. My 9yo daughter forces it upon us every 4-6 weeks, and it never fails to make us smile and sing along.
ReplyDelete2010 -- my son {my hero} was 17 and in his junior year of high school. We had a rough time of it, as we had taken in an abused teen, and she really made life really difficult. Not all her fault; things just are the way they are. That wasn't the most awesome year for my family, but we made it through and are better for it in how close it brought us together. Lots of love has been exchanged since then, words said that needed to be heard, and bonds strengthened. 2010 might have been our worst year ever as a family, yet we gained so much in its aftermath, how can I possibly regret it?
Thanks for this trip down memory lane. I hate remembering bad times, but love thinking back on how awesome my family is for making it through the dark. There is always light at the end of the tunnel; we are among the lucky few who found it while holding to each other with love.
These posts are great! Sadly, I think I myself am "retro" because I only just found out about and read "Cassastar" for myself last week! And it is AWESOME ! Love the characters, am currently about 1/4 of the way through Cassafire :- ) Loving A to Z because of things like this - discovering new books, yay!

Four years have gone by since your first book. WOW. Nearly three years since we got Miss Wiggy the pound puppy. My goodness, it all goes so flippin' fast.

ReplyDeleteI was intrigued by your novel Cassastar and I went in search of it in MP3 format… finding nothing. But, what's wrong with reading the book instead? You might ask. Nothing much, if you happen to possess a pair of good functioning eyes — but I'm blind and there doesn't seem to be anywhere that I can download this book. Of course, if there was an audio format, then you can bet your voice that Audible would get their hooks into at first… falling into that inaccessible .AA format at their own ridiculous prices! Oh, if you're wondering, this was dictated using speech recognition software!
