Just the Facts, Ma'am!

Lots of news today!

For those of you following or participating in the Rule of Three Blogfest this month, my book is one of the prizes. And today I have a short, Rule of Three interview at JC Martin’s site AND at Flash Fiction! They apologize the interview didn't go up sooner.I’d be honored if you popped over there after catching up on all the news…

Arlee Bird is preparing for next year’s A to Z Challenge and set up a blog for participants. If you intend to participate again next April, hop over to The A to Z Challenge and follow to receive all the latest updates.

Dave at Dave Wrote This is hosting The Noughties Blogfest on November 14. “List something from each year (2000-2009) that you loved.” Short and easy! yes, I’ve signed up for this one.

My extremely talented critique partner, Anne Gallagher, set up an author web page for her Regency romance books. The Lady’s Fate is her latest. I was given the honor of reading an excerpt from this book, and it was excellent. Yes, that’s right – this tough Ninja Captain read part of a Regency romance novel!

Susan Kaye Quinn’s new book, Open Minds (Book One of the Mindjack Trilogy), comes out on November 1, 2011.

Laura at the Daily Dodo is giving a away a signed copy of 21st Century Dodos – but you must answer a question first.

The Internet Book Fair is October 25 and Jessica Bell is on a mission to sell your books!

My buddy TS recently started a new job selling cabinets. He’s never been in sales before, so if you are in the market for cabinets, support a fellow blogger and visit The Non Review first.

I haven’t talked about movies in a while, so here’s a couple for you. Watched Green Lantern again this past week on DVD. As a fan of DC Comics, I still say it’s a lot of fun and a true comic book film. Also watched Insidious and it was very creepy and effective. However, (spoiler!) why do all horror films have to have a bad ending these days? It lost me at that point…

Wednesday I’ll have a special guest here to entertain you. He’s pure genius when it comes to writing and storytelling, so you don’t want to miss it!

And by popular request, I now present to you another creepy Chewbacca movie poster, courtesy of FreakingNews!
(Isis, just don’t look…)

Any great news I missed? Does that image creep you out? See a good movie recently?

Now you may visit JC Martin’s site or Flash Fiction for my short and fun interview!

I saw the sign for In Time and said that looked like Justin Timberlake. And yes it was Justin Timberlake. He's now a lead actor. My son said he's seen the thriller and it is about time as currency. Sounds interesting.

You have a lot of news. Will check out A-Z blog and I am curious about that rule of three, I can't imagine what is it about, sounds like a riddle.

Love the poster. I'm still exhausted from the A-Z Challenge.

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

So many news and events! :) I doubt I would survive the A to Z Challenge, but The Noughties Blogfest sounds like fun. :)
I liked the Green Lantern better than Captain America actually. ;) My review of it is coming soon. Insidious was good, but nowhere nearly as great as I expected it to be.

Captain Chewbacca looks hilarious! :)

LynnRush said...

Lots going on!!
That Chewbacca poster kinda creeped me out a little. LOL.

I've yet to see Green Lantern but I plan to. :) Eventually. Maybe after NaNo?? :)

Thanks for all the news and links!

Nezzy (Cow Patty Surprise) said...

Man...you've filled my brain with wonderful news and that scary Captain Chewbacca image. How will I every erase that outta my brain and sleep tonight??? Heeehehhe!!!

I just returned home from a 'workcation' at my Mom's in Brownsville TX. Hubs and I did manage one movie on the trip. "The Big Year", was a good movie (not great). It was filled with humor and some heartfelt moments but the fact that I have a bird obsession (among many others) truly made the movie for me. I'm just twisted that way!

God bless you day Man! :o)

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Heather, I've been working on this for a week!

Rusty, it was a pure comic book movie. I liked it!

Laura, you are welcome.

George, I liked them both, but really don't know why Green Lantern got such a bad rap.

Lynn, watch it - fun movie!

Jen, someone had fun making that poster.

Rhonda, sorry I didn't know about it sooner!

Katie, Anne is awesome.

Hey Marvin! Good to hear from you.

OMG green!

That silly movie made me into a major Green Lantern fan. I don't know if my pocket book can handle any more comic books, but if it's got Hal, Kyle, Guy and John, I'm there.

DL Hammons said...

Out of all the comic book movies I saw this summer, GREEN LANTERN was actually my least favorite (although I did enjoy it).

And don't get me started on Hollywood Horror movies and bad endings!!!!

& i like the "noughties" is that a real word?

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Rena, welcome to Green Lantern fandom!

Dl, skip Insidious then.

Ricky, I hung with it until the very end. Then the movie fell off the cliff.

Michael, not a chance!!! And Anne is one of my critique partners. After reading her excerpt, I feel lucky to have her.

Karen, seems like it!

Sorry, the interview is not up yet! Hopefully soon.

Mark said...

Neat book! Also, gotta love the Chewie pics:)

msmariah said...

Good morning Alex-- Thanks for the informative post! I'm glad you're on top of things this Monday morning.

I actually would prefer to see Chewbaca as Captain Jack. I was so relieved when Kiera and Orlando bowed out of the last film. However, they just replaced them with a shirtless missionary and a doe-eyed mermaid. Figures. Yet another love triangle.

So yes, I think a Chewbacca Pirate movie would be awesome :)

Karen M. Peterson said...

Yeah, that Chewbacca image is a little bit creepy. But kind of awesome, too...

Christopher Hudson said...

Alex, didn't see your piece on JC Martin's site ... reader, writer and fighter that he is.

Johanna Garth said...

I feel like reading your blog this morning was like the Monday update of the blogosphere (with a side helping of Chewie)! Thanks for all the great info and links.

Birgit said...

Good ole Chewie could be "chewing" up the scenes in the Pirate movie even more than Johnny Depp:) he also needs a shave:) I did not see any new films out there but watched an oldie but a goodie-"Sunset Blvd"-I LOVE that film and how it just upset sooo many people at that time. Great drama/comedy/campy horror flick all in one

Pat Tillett said...

Wow! That's a lot of news... I'm going to check it all out! I'm wondering if I'll be able to participate in the next A to Z...

Southpaw said...

Elizabeth Spann Craig said...

Thanks for catching me up, Alex! Now over to J.C. Martin's site. :)

Nicki Elson said...

Creep me out? What could be better than Chewbacca and Captain Jack all in one?

Thanks for the newses. :)

Christine Rains said...

For some reason, that Chewbacca isn't nearly as creepy as the other one. Lighting? Color? I can't quite put my finger on it. I watched Red State on the weekend. Amusing, but not as shocking as I expected. At least The Walking Dead made up for it last night!

M.J. Fifield said...

That Chewbacca picture is definitely not as freaky as the other one. I actually kind of like this one.

The Noughties Blogfest sounds like fun. But I can't believe we're getting ready for another A to Z Challenge already!!

julie fedderson said...

The Noughties blogfest sounds awesome! And Chewy rocks the dreds. Reading that romance novel has now spoiled you for HEAs, hence the dislike of bad horror movie endings. I love me an HEA.

Lots going on in bloggyland. It's good to see. Thanks for all the news.

Green Lantern was pretty good. I think we watched that last weekend ... now that I'm not working weekends any more.

Saw XMen First Class this weekend. That was pretty good, too.

Alex, how in the world do you carve out time to do all these blogfests?

My mind bloggles, I mean boggles at the thought of the work involved. I'll admit it, I'm a wimp. No way, no how can I do that many blogfests.

I did enjoy the news. I'll have to check out Anne's book.

That so great of you to donate CassaStar to the Ren3 event. I've got mine on Kindle - but I wouldn't mind a hard copy. I still love the look and feel of a paper book, and my son bought me another book shelf for my birthday. Your novel would make it so good looking :)

I gotta say though, I'd not want to be a judge in this blogfest; there are so many awesome writers who have joined.

I am also excited about Anne's book release.

I haven't seen any movies lately - good or bad. Too busy with my nose in one writing event or another.

See ya later Alex :)

It looks like I've missed a lot. Plenty of activity and fun times happening, but I can't get over you reading romance. And I remember you telling spooky stuff didn't scare you. Insidious was pretty creepy. I'm getting a little tired of the lack of happy endings in horror too. I will tune in tomorrow. Have a great day. :)

Sangu Mandanna said...

That image does freak me out. No, Chewie, no. You're supposed to be loveable and cuddly and growly! Ha. Thanks for all the great news and links, though!

Unknown said...

LOL...I love Chewie regardless. You could put him in pink spandex and I'd probably find him even more adorable. As a matter of fact, I know I would :) I haven't watched Green Lantern yet...hoping they didn't slaughter the Comic Book version too much but I haven't heard too many good reviews from fans, but hey...Ryan Reynolds nailed Deadpool so maybe I'll give him a chance :)

Mary Aalgaard said...

Great news all around. I wrote about insecurities today on my blog, but might have more to say on the topic next week. Time flies, doens't it?
Have a great week!

Tyrean Martinson said...

Watched Green Lantern in a "cheap" theater complete with sticky floors and flat seating - which meant my youngest sat on her knees to see over the headrests - she's too 'old' to put up with indignity of a booster. Despite the setting, we enjoyed the movie - it was fun in a comic book movie kind of way. Plus, it reminded me of my childhood movie theater . . .oh, the nostalgia of sticky floors and the smell of old popcorn. :-)

D.G. Hudson said...

Chewbacca is abnormally photogenic, IMO. Like the little logo of Yoda, too.

Hubby loves any Comic Book Hero, so we usually go to all the films featuring them. We'll probably see Green Lantern soon.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Thanks, Mary!

Lindi and Amy, glad you're on board for the Challenge!

Angela, your brother is a cool dude.

Laila, I'm jaded when it comes to scary movies - I've seen it all. Don't let the romance stuff fool you - I'm still a tough Ninja!

Charissa, if you like the comic book, you'll enjoy the movie. Reynolds nailed the role.

Mary, that is next week!

Tyrean, glad you saw it. I can do without sticky floors though.

DG, you'll find it's a blast.
