June Movie Preview Extravaganza!

It's June First and time for a preview of films hitting the theater this month! (I know, where the heck did May go? No clue.)

All plot descriptions courtesy of the IMDB

June 3

X-Men: First Class
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence
The Plot: Charles Xavier (aka Professor X) and Erik Lensherr (aka Magneto) are two young men discovering their powers. Banding together with fellow mutants to stop a threat to the world, a rift grows between the two forces, leading to the founding of Professor X's X-MEN and Magneto's Brotherhood, and the beginning of their eternal war.
I’ve enjoyed the X-Men films and look forward to this one. Early review say it’s one of the best superhero movies ever!

June 10

Super 8
Director: J.J. Abrams
Stars: Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Kyle Chandler
The Plot: Ohio, 1979: when kids shooting a super 8 movie witness a train crash, their shock soon turns to feelings of suspicion and horror after disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town.
Have you seen all the sneak previews? Extended previews? This looks awesome! Abrams is at it again.

The Troll Hunter - limited
Director: André Øvredal
Stars: Otto Jespersen, Robert Stoltenberg, Knut Nærum
The Plot: After learning that real-life trolls exist after years of being covered up by a government conspiracy, a group of Norwegian film students set out to catch the creatures on camera.
CineMarvellous gave this an awesome review and the trailer looks amazing. Plus, it’s showing next Wenesday June 8 on HDNet - I get to see it early!

June 17

Green Lantern
Director: Martin Campbell
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard
The Plot: When he's granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, test pilot Hal Jordan (Reynolds) becomes the first human to earn membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. His mission: to combat an enemy called Parallax, which threatens to destroy the universe's balance of power.
I am a BIG DC Comics fan - can’t wait for this movie!

June 24

Cars 2
Director: John Lasseter Brad Lewis
Stars: Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine
Studio: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
The Plot: Lightning McQueen, pit boss Mater, and the rest of Lightning's crew enter the Race of Champions, a multi-national event taking place in Japan, Germany, Italy, France, and England.
It’s Pixar. It’s Cars. What else can I say? Pixar trailers never look great, but the movies always deliver.

What movie has your attention? Are you all geeked-out for superheroes and giant trolls?

  1. I am so looking forward to X-Men, Green Lantern and Super 8. Cars 2 looks excellent as well as the first is one of my faves from Pixar. Is Troll Hunter doing release in theaters or just on HDNet? It sounds cool.

  2. Love Abrams!! Can't wait for Super 8!

  8. Oh man, I feel old. I guess all I can say is that it is good that I have a lot of gardening to do...

    ReplyDelete
  9. I've heard that too about Xmen. I want to see Bad Teacher (I think that's the title). Not sure when it comes out.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, I might have to see this X Men. I'm a fan of James McAvoy.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe X-Men: First Class and Super 8. I'm not sure about Green Lantern, although I do like Ryan Reynolds.

Under the Tiki Hut has finally escaped Blogger's claws :)

  12. i will be seeing all of those except cars. Cars is the only pixar movie i didn't like.
Also, i think Trollhunter is available on demand currently. At least, so says my brother. We have plans to watch it (and xmen) this weekend

    ReplyDelete
  13. X-men and Green Lantern for sure. I missed Cars and Troll Hunter might be all right.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Super 8 and Troll Hunter have me intrigued!

    ReplyDelete
  15. It seems like I've been waiting soooo long for Super 8 to come out.

Green Lantern and X-men look good too!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm so excited about Cars II. My youngest LOVED the first one. I'm looking forward to a family outing on that one. My middle son wants to see The Green Lantern. Not so sure about that one. :)
    Have a great day, Alex!

  17. I'm not a huge super hero movie fan, but my brother loves them. Superman, Spiderman, Xmen, The Incredible Hulk. You name it, he will be there.

    I wonder if it's a guy thing.

  18. June seem very promising in terms of movies ;)

I'm super excited for "Super 8", and dying to see "X-Men: First Class"!

As you know, I've seen "Troll Hunter" already, and I was impressed with it.

"Green Lantern" looks a bit to CGI-y to me, but I still have high hopes for it.

Even though the first "Cars" movie was my least Pixar movie, I'm still looking forward to the sequel.

  19. X-Men and Cars2!! I am not a comic book fan or anything like that, but if the movie is done well, then I am all for it. I love the X-Men series though. Wolverine is my fave!!

    Thanks for the info!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Super 8 has awesome written all over it. Looking forward to cars II. Troll Hunter is unique. I don't think this concept has really been explored as well as it could be in a mvoie. Looking forward to this one too!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Super 8 seems very cool and I love Kyle Chandler (met him once when I was an extra on his old Tv show). But the one I am most likely to see is Cars 2 with my kiddos!

    ReplyDelete
  22. With all these movies and Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon coming out, Summer has a lot to offer me this year!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I definitely want to see Super 8, and even Green lantern looks pretty cool in previews

    ReplyDelete
  24. not saying I won't watch x-men, but I am not sure how much I will like it. I actually posted on it today.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Giant trolls? Are they making a movie about my ex-boyfriends?

    ReplyDelete
  26. X-Men and Green Lantern. Kiddo is lobbying hard to see X-Men right away so I am sure we will be doing that soon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am getting more and more excited to see Super 8 as I watch each trailer. The same goes for Green Lantern...which is a huge surprise. X-Men will be cool to check out at home, still reeling from The Last Stand, but I cannot wait for Captain America.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Melissa, it says limited, which could mean a whole two theaters!

Amy, Super 8 looks great - got my attention with Abrams directing!

Kitty, sorry, not even my wife watches chick flicks.

Jan, never too old for movies.

Teresa, Bad Teacher comes out June 24.

    Carol, that's good news!

Sarah, don't spoil it for me...

Ciara, you know where to come for a review of Green Lantern...

    Angela, I think it is!

George, I have hopes for Green Lantern because it's DC. Cars wasn't my favorite, but I'll probably go see the sequel.

Dafeenah, sorry you don't get Jackman in this one.

    Kelly, that's cool!

Jeffrey, it's a better summer than last year, but I'm not holding my breath for another Inception.

    Betty - that's good!!

Geof, I'll let you know if you shouldn't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Er... no. I haven't heard of any of these, except for the X-Men! I think I'm living in a parallel universe.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks, Alex, can always count on your reviews to be informative. Hmm, trolls and superheroes? I don't know. I think Cars is about my speed this summer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm so looking forward to Green Lantern, that was my favorite comic book! But then I love Pixar as well. :)

  32. Yay, there's a woman in X-men. Now, I want to see it. Cars too. I agree about Pixar. You can't go wrong.

  33. Of all the films listed here, I would likely watch that X-Men: First Class and Cars 2.

I thought the Green Lantern might be interesting when I saw some previews of it earlier this year but I changed my mind on that one, lol.

After recently watching a movie that I never thought I would like ( "Thor"), I just may give Green Lantern a chance eventually....the verdict is still out on that :)

I don't know much about the Super 8 movie and just saw the preview this week when I went to see Thor, so I might check that out.

  34. I'm looking forward to Super 8. :)

  35. Sorry I can't take part on June 6th but am travelling home then.
    Good reviews as always.
Thanks for the visits much appreciated. Can only get limited access to the net as we are travelling alot.
Can't wait to show the pics.....some will amaze you and it's not slides either.
    Take care.
    Yvonne.

  36. While I'm looking forward to all of those movies, Super 8 is at the top of my list!! Those trailers look super cool and super freaky - great combo in my book! DC Comic movies always make me nervous because they are so easy to screw up which then breaks my heart while ticking me off at the same time. I'll wait until I hear how other fans like it before I go, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Super 8 seems kind of cool and I have a small crush on Ryan Reynolds so I'm all about the Green Lantern.

I keep meaning to watch the X Men movies. Maybe this summer...

    ReplyDelete
  38. These all look like great flicks, but I am REALLY looking forward to "Super 8."

Abrams and Spielberg. Wow. Bring it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Probably won't go see Cars 2 or X-Men, but probably will go see Super 8, The Troll Hunter and Green Lantern. Your post is the first I've heard about The Troll Hunter. It sounds good.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm excited to see The Green Lantern and Super 8!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Green Lantern looks like one I can take my son to. Cool! Thanks for the previews.

    ReplyDelete
  42. X-MEN!! SUPER 8!! GREEN LANTERN!!

And that Troll movie sounds cool too ~ gonna have to see if I can find that one!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Talli, we really need to do a movie date...

Jules, I'm a big DC fan, so really stoked about Green Lantern.

Nicole, you know where to come for a Green Lantern review in a couple weeks if you're still undecided.

Yvonne, and I'm really sorry you won't be back, because I know it's one you'd enjoy!

Jennie, just wish DC would do a JLA movie!

    Bryce, you said it!

Helen, I will let you know about Troll Hunter!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ooooh. I can't wait to see the one about the trolls. I hadn't heard of it either. But somebody told me recently that more Swedes believe in trolls than believe in traditional religion. So these could be some fearsome trolls.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm really excited about Super 8, thanks for bringing it to light.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Some great movies coming out in spring! I can't wait to see them, I've seen the previews for most already.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Husband is very excited about Green Lantern.

    ReplyDelete
  48. hmmmmm.....abrams spielberg and a train crash followed by disapperances and more - easy pick for first place with this one! thanks so much for letting us in on all of them -

and, what DID happen to the month of may??? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anne, the big one is supposed to be terrifying!

    Mary, as he should be!

Gypsy, I think we were shorted a few days. Maybe more.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ryan Reynolds and James McAvoy...superheroes and action...so ready for these two movies!

    ReplyDelete
  51. X-Men: First Class, it seems to be spectacular. Part Cars loved my son. But they have missed so much time to do the second if no longer believes it is a movie for younger children. Greetings.

    ReplyDelete
  52. wow. you just hit on all the movies I've been looking forward to seeing! Are they here yet?!

  53. Seems like I'm in the minority here, but I think Green Lantern looks really cheesy. I LOVE superhero movies, but I think -- based on the current previews -- they are missing the mark with that one. I hope I'm wrong, though!!

That being said, I'll still probably check it out. (As stated, I love me some superhero films!)

Oh -- to end on a positive note -- I'm totally stoked for X-Men!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love, love, love X Men!!! So exited!

  55. Oh, I TOTALLY geek out for the comic book movies, but I'm on the edge of my seat for Harry Potter.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm a huge Ryan Reynolds fan. I don't care what movie he's in...I'm seeing it. My kids want to see Cars 2. And my two writer friends and I are seeing Bridesmaids over the weekend. Good times.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Nutschell, that makes you uber cool!

JM, I dig DC comics, so I'm hoping it's not cheesy.

Will, wish I could say the same...

Julie, sounds like me and Kate!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm so stoked about X Men! I'm gonna try to see it this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I really want to see X-men. It looks so great, and I have a crush of James McAvoy.

Hey, you have Kate Beckinsale, right?
    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  60. X-men and Green Lantern are on my list to see. I saw Pirates 4 this weekend, and WOW was that great.

I saw previews for Cowboys and Aliens, and I think I'm hooked on that one too.

    ........dhole

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm pretty sure I'll be seeing them all except Cars 2. Green Lantern is first on the list!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Blah....
The Troll Hunter sounds like the only cool movie in this batch...and that's only because of the title.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Alexia, I'm definitely seeing it!

    Lydia, that's only fair then!

Donna, Cowboys and Aliens is going to rock.

Andrew, we need a good troll movie, don't we?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Those look like a pretty good set. I'm not a Cars fan... somehow I can't get into their anthromophising machinery stuff--like the animals, monsters and toys a lot better--but I could be happy seeing any of the rest of these.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I probably won't see any of them. But maybe I will. We discovered a theater that offers $5.00 shows Monday through Thursday and that includes new releases. My daughter and I went to see Pirates in 3-D. My first 3-D besides the corn-ball ones of the 50's. How cool!
    Nancy

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hart, Cars wasn't my favorite, but it's computer animation - must go!

    Good for you, Nancy!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm anxious to watch Super 8 because I fell in love with Lost and JJ Abrams is an amazing director. With him being paired up with Steven Spielberg, this is a MUST see for me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. An X Men without Wolverine is totally pointless. (=

    ReplyDelete
  69. Cautiously optimistic about X-men first class. It will be hard to accept some of the changes they are going to have to make to the original story, i.e. no iceman, cyclops, jean grey, or angel as original members. But Havok and Banshee are nice additions.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't think I've seen the extended trailer for Super 8, but the one I have seen just looks like special effects and rather random.

    ReplyDelete
  71. This has the potential to be an epic June! The reviews for X-Men have been great, and I can't wait to see it this weekend!

I really stopped by to say 'thank you' for your support during my A-Z blogging month. I've created a fun "no strings attached" blog award for you and all of the other awesome bloggers who offered feedback and encouragement.

You can view the award and my thank you note here:

  72. Super 8: plot actually seems very promising and very interesting, hopefully it will not disappoint. Have you seen? Greetings.

    ReplyDelete
  73. These are all great. I'm particularly interested in Super 8. It looks great from what little I've seen of it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey Alex - I do love movies. There are a couple on your list I've just added to mine. Thanks! And, YOU ROCK!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've been hunting for trolls for quite some time, so I am hoping that The Troll Hunter is a documentary that will help me in my quest. God, am I the ONLY person who would love to just see some movies about some real people with real stories?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Saw the previews for Super 8: scared me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. MOST excited for XMen. Least for that Troll movie. Previews looked awful, imho.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Can't wait for any incarnation of the X-men on the big screen. I'm such a fanboy!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Robotic, Abrams' last few movies have rocked.

Holly, the newest one is better.

    Thanks, EJ!

    RaShelle, now you rock more!

    Copyboy, so am I!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Saw previews for these when I went to see Thor over the weekend. Can't wait for Super 8!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Watched X-men last night and have to say it was a bit of a disappointment... loved the 2 sec scene with Wolverine:) Really really want to watch The Troll Hunter... cool movie picks

    Tania

  82. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SUPER 8!!

I've been excited for this JJ Abrams/Stephen Spielberg collaboration for ages. I can't believe it finally comes out THIS WEEK!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Tania, I enjoyed it. Not the best, but enjoyed the characters. Watching Troll Hunters in just three days!

Karen, I know! We've heard about it for so long now...

    ReplyDelete
  84. DH will enjoy these, thanks for the info, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Finally got my post up, better late than never hey :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I can't wait to see Super 8. Part of it was actually filmed near us.

    ReplyDelete
  87. After the disappointing Pirates (boring parts, cheap-looking 3D, not enough sea) I look forward to see
X-Men: First Class (Germany June 9th)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (Germany July 14th

    Green Lantern (Germany (July 28th)

    Super 8 (Germany August 4th)

    Captain America (August 18th)

Cowboys and Aliens (Germany August 25th)

    ReplyDelete
  88. X-Men First Class was very entertaining. Not sure about Green Lantern though. Looks way too CGI-heavy.
