Spunk, NaNo, and SUCK

Bet that post title makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Today’s tour stop – Spunk on a Stick’s Tips - with a post entitled “Window into the Soul.”

Thanks again to those who commented at yesterday’s post at Confessions of a Watery Tart. If you didn't, feel free to add your snark to the rather long list.

And I need a little help with this NaNoWri Mo thing. Everyone is talking about NaNo and ‘buddy me’ – but most of you aren’t using your names! So, I’m having trouble finding everyone. If you are participating, please leave your NaNo name in the comments so I can find you. I am listed under AlexJCavanaugh

I still hope to see RED at some point! In the meantime, I leave you with this review, courtesy of NetFlix.

SUCK

A band finds their popularity growing as members turn into vampires.

Rob Stefaniuk wrote, directs, and stars as the lead singer. He even wrote the band’s music, which is actually not bad. Malcolm McDowell is Eddie Van Helsing, and all sorts of musicians make appearances in this film, including Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, and Henry Rollins. Alex Lifeson (from the awesome band RUSH) is a Canadian border officer and Moby is a headbanger who enjoys raw meat thrown at his band during performances. (I guarantee you've never seen this side of Moby. Ever!)

With an 80’s vibe, SUCK is very quirky and original – and a lot of fun!

  2. Malcolm McDowell is always worth watching. Not sure about Moby as a carnivore, though.

  3. Suck sounds interesting. I look into it. Am I the only one not taking part in NaNo? It scares me a little. I'm not sure I need that pressure right now.

  4. Suck sure got my attention and I think I've already found you on NaNo!

    Talk to you later, NaNo-buddy!

  12. Suck sounds like one crazy movie.

Now I'm off to your post at Spunky's blog.

  13. Is Suck as awesome as a SyFy Saturday night original movie? Because it kind of sounds like it might be.

If you've never seen a SyFy Saturday night original movie, I think you're missing out. They're the most horrible, cheesy movies ever created with the absolute worst storylines and special effects. It always made my mind boggle that a network that could produce such crap would also produce the genius Battlestar Galactica.

  18. I saw RED this weekend, and thought it was pretty fun. John Malkovich was the crowning jewel, for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Suck and here I thought you were venting :) I watched Red over the weekend but I'll wait for your review.

Also I wanted to thank you for reading and commenting on my blog. With all your success and the # of followers I feel super special. I needed that, thanks.

  21. Suck looks like it actually won't Suck. BTW...I read the title too fast and thought the post was a bout Sputnik.

  22. I know it's totally silly, but I love Henry Rollins in movies! And Malcolm McDowell is a great pull for me, too.

See you at Diane's site! Thanks for the movie info. And not doing NaNoWriMo. Good luck!

  26. That sounds like a fun movie, actually. Thanks for the review!

I added you on NaNo, I think. I'm under Karen77. I set that name up before I started using my full name on my blog, and forgot to change it when I had the chance. Next year, I guess...

    Christine, no pressure.

    Dezz, I'm on a roll!

    Kitty, yes, it's a comedy.

Tara, two more days of my tour and then I'm home!

    Charles, I will go look!

Haleine, it's nothing like SyFy's movies! And yes, I've seen many - even did a play-by-play on Sharktopus last month.

    Jules, I enjoy your blog!

Sputnik! Maybe I need to blog about that just for you, Copyboy.

    Abby, that's funny.

Thanks everyone for leaving your NaNo names!

Suck sounds entertaining. Will have to keep an eye out!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sorry, not doing NaNo. Glad you could visit my blog today!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why am I not surprised that Henry Rollins is in this movie.
Moby as a carnivore made me LOL!
I am on the fence about Nano--probably not doing it, but I might change my mind...

  33. Interesting to hear you liked it so much. I've heard nothing but bad things about it. Interesting indeed.

  37. Suck does sound sort of interesting! I think you found me, but if not, I am hartjohnson.

Thanks for having me yesterday, Alex--that is the highest comments I've gotten--I know it is small potatoes to you, but both as my blog record for YOU, and people reading and commenting on me HERE were personal bests, so I really appreciate it!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dude, where do you find these films??? I've never even heard of half the movies you review!! Very cool, though. I was just listening to the 80's radio station today. Feeling nostalgic all of a sudden. but man, I don't even know if our movie rental place will have this one in stock!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maybe I should run a side pool about when you'll actually see RED :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lydia, there's still time!

Bryan, really? Maybe people are taking it too serious.

Hart, glad my Army turned out for you! Thanks again, I really appreciated it.

Carolina, I found it on NetFlix. I do a lot of browsing there...

Carol, might be another way to make some money!

  41. That's an interesting title for a movie. It could lead to all kinds of comments good and bad using the title for unkind puns.
Hope your blog tour is doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hmm, This is the first that I've heard about Suck.

I'm too chicken to try NaNoWriMo. I don't have a story in me that wants to come out. How sad is that?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I sent you a NaNo PM with my info. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  44. hahah woooow that movie looks pretty uh... weird :P

    ReplyDelete

I'm still tossing NaNo back and forth... can't decide. But I'm jemifraser over there :)

  47. Suck sounds...amusing.
I'm LynFaw in NaNo (we are buddies already)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Despite the fact that I'm an 80s child I've never seen Suck. I'll have to rectify that at some point.

    Hiphop, weird but fun!

Jen, I have to do something to stay ahead of the pack.

    Jai, it's a trip.

  56. Very cool. I loved Alice Cooper in Wayne's World.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm glad that SUCK is actually quite fun, I was afraid that it was a 'so bad, it's actually really bad' movie, but I'm glad it's got that kitsch 80's vibe too.

By the way, I'm james.gryste on NaNoWriMo :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thanks, Susan! It's a fun concept, isn't it?

    Ishta, let me know!

Jamie, I'll go find you! And Suck is just fun.

    ReplyDelete
