Party Time!

Parties around the web and in real life. Some all in my mind…

Horror at Hannah’s! Musings of a Palindrome is hosting a cool writing contest for the month of October.

Brad Jaeger’s “The First Novel that Moved Me” blogfest is Monday, October 11th. Sign up HERE (I’m participating.)

Cerebral Lunch Box is featuring the Small Packages Blogfest for those with 150 followers or less

Stephen Tremp is looking for young adult authors for a special project – see Breakthrough Blogs for details.

Tuesday I kick off the virtual tour for CassaStar, which is available October 19. Yes, I’m getting nervous!

In addition to doing NaNoWriMo, I’ve been participating in NaBloWriMo. (Whew! Too many acronyms!) A post every day. Then it’s much writing every day. Yes, I am crazy. Work with me!

My mom’s birthday is next week, so I recorded an audio track of me playing an Elvis song for her. Took several tries, but I think I got it. No, not ready for a world tour just yet!

Those who’ve been with me a while should remember my high praise for “How to Train Your Dragon.” Well, it comes out on DVD next Friday, October 15. If you haven’t seen it, just go buy it. Trust me!

And to round out this party post, I intend to post a movie review this weekend. Not sure which movie yet. I’ll let you know when I know!

  1. Thanks for all the great links!

I haven't watched How to Train Your Dragon, but I'm interested to see what it's like. Training a dragon just in itself sounds cool.

  10. Because some parties are in your head (me too) is why I think you are so interesting.

  32. Don't be nervous - be excited! It's going to be awesome.

I dig dragons and for some reason have not seen "How to Train Your Dragon," thanks for the tip on the DVD release. If you're looking for a movie to see and review, I just saw "The Social Network" last night. I really liked it. Fantastic opening dialogue and kept building from there. The kid who played Zuckerberg is AMAZING.

  33. I think I'm crazy, too, Alex. I shed one project and then take on two more.

As for your book release, it's going to be great. And so is your tour. Relax and enjoy it. That debut novel only happens once.

  38. Thanks for the links, Alex.

CassaStar will be out in a couple of weeks! I'm so happy for you! :)

"How to Train Your Dragon" is my favorite animated feature of the year so far. It was brilliantly-made and on par with all Pixar movies, in some ways even better. A must see!

  39. Hey Alex - How to Train Your Dragon was/is such a great film. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Buying it!!! Thanks for all the heads up on the happenings around the blogsphere.

And an Elvis song? My mom loves him too. Do you move your hips when you play? Oh, and do the snarl thingy with the lips? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  40. I bet your mom is absolutely going to love that! That is a great gift.

    Thanks for the links!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nebular, I place it second only to Inception!

RaShelle, hard to move my hips when I'm concentrating so hard on strumming the right notes!

  42. The moment you mentioned all these parties, I got the following line from a Prince song stuck in my head: "But life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last." Wonder what the symbolic value in that randomness means.

    ReplyDelete
  43. great links!

I love How to Train Your Dragon.

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Will How To Train Your Dragon be just as good in 2D? As a mother, I would be thrilled to receive a gift of my son playing a song. You're a good boy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. HUZZAH!! THAT'S ME!!!! THANKS ALEX!! YOU'RE AWESOME FOR MENTIONING IT!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jeffrey, anything to do with Prince can't be good!

Helen, it will be! We don't have a 3D TV - yet. And thanks, just trying to make mom happy.

    Palin, you are welcome!

  47. I'm jealous. You are now getting more comments than I. I guess everyone loves a party.

    I loved HTTYD. Great flick.

  48. Thanks for the plug, Alex! I've snagged a couple of participants. Looking forward to helping you celebrate the book launch on the 19th!

  49. Cheeseboy I doubt I'm getting more! Daily posting for NaBlo has reduced the comments this month.

Glad to help, Witless! And thank you.

  50. Alex, have you seen my "top 10 of 2010 so far" list? "Dragon" is placed second to "Inception". It's not just coincidence, it's a fact that these two are the best :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nebular, yes I have seen your top ten list!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yay for Dragon! I loved that movie, it was so good :) I can't wait to get this one on DVD (we'll, I'll get it for my fiancee as a christmas present and then watch it myself, hehe).

I wish I'd been able to participate in NaBloWriMo, but the timing was too sucky :( There's always next year!
