Big News!!!

Okay, I’m about to geek out with excitement, but first – the winner of Hart at Confessions of a Watery Tart’s 50 page manuscript critique:

Ted Cross !!!!

Congratulations! Hart has been notified and will contact you soon.

And now, before I come undone…

My book trailer!!!

My publisher is posting it online sometime today and I will debut it for all to see on Thursday! I haven’t watched it yet, but I am so stoked. I hope it’s good!

This will be in the place of the review I’d hoped to post on The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are dismal. Think I’ll skip this one. But I will be posting a review of Inception this weekend. That movie has near perfect reviews right now!

And I did make some minor changes to my blog as per the Blog Book Tour critiques. The instructor, Dani, posted her review HERE . Let me know – did I make it better?

Tell all your friends - party here tomorrow!

  1. This is awesome but also sucks. Congrats Ted!

It's awesome because Ted is one of my best writing friends (we're in a crit group together) and I'm very happy to see him win this prize.

It sucks because now his pages are going to get critiqued by a professional and all the rambling comments and corrections I made to his text are going to look pretty stupid.

Still, over all, it's a good thing. Yay!

And um, Alex, can't wait for your book trailer but I have to ask ... did the Sorcerer's Apprentice look like it would be good to you?

    I'm excited too, Crystal!

  13. Yay, I can't wait to watch your trailer! AND Inception.

I just can't handle Nick Cage, so no thanks on that one...

  16. Congrats Ted.

Alex I can't wait to see the trailer.

I read the review. Personally, I don’t like hit counters on sites. I do like the new blogger feature where you can add a email this, blog it, tweet it… to the end of every post. You might want to check that out.

  17. So exciting - can't wait to see the trailer! :)

  19. Thanks, Mason. Half the class thought it was way too cluttered.

Dezz, no uncontrolled peeing on my blog!

Holly, I'll look into that. The hit counter was a necessity for the class.

    Bryan, Inception is gonna rock!

    Thanks, everyone!

  20. Wow! Thanks Alex and Hart! I never win anything and suddenly in the past week I won two different blog contests.

Matt, I already incorporated your great changes into my text (or most of them at least). I certainly use 'just' way too much, as you so kindly pointed out.

  21. So cool! Looking forward to seeing the trailer.

    Also, the review of inception.

  22. Looking forward to your trailer.
    Great review of your blog.
I was looking forward to The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I hate hearing it's maybe not so good.
Maybe the news is better for Inception.

  23. I'm looking forward to the trailer!

Glad to hear Inception is getting good reviews. I like the teasers that have been showing on TV, but it looks complicated.

  25. Then it's a good week for you, Ted!

Helen, it's Christopher Nolan - he does not direct simple.

  26. Congrats on the book trailer! When will you get your first peek? Exciting!

  27. Will keep an eye out for your trailer. That's super exciting.

I'm not terribly surprised to see Sorcerer getting panned by the reviews. I may eventually watch it on video. It looked like it might be fun, but I'm moderately anti-Nick_Cage, so I was turned off by his presence/acting.

Inception looks great (though I'm not a DiCaprio fan either...I am a Nolan fan). Planning to see it next week. Hoping for the best. :)

  28. I've also read the review of that Dani instructor, and although I agree on most of the things she said, there are also some bad advice she gave you:
-making blogroll more concise is clearly a very bad thing to do, because your blogroll shows the people who support you the most. I did quite a contrary thing over at my blog - not only that I put it above at the top, but I also have pics and the latest post tittles from the blogs of my dearest friends. This is why I liked your previous look of the blogroll more.

The same goes for her advice to remove the awards that your friends gave you. Those are people who love you and who gave you awards with positive attitude, so removing it is a bad thing to do. You could put them under a special button or organize them, but never remove them. It would be a cold thing to do.

I've already said that people love Alex for his warm and kind personality, and that's why he must keep up the inviting and positive things in his blog, things which show he cares about his fellow bloggers and visitors :)

  29. Awesome. Can't wait for your book trailer AND Inception review! I have to see that this weekend!

  30. Thanks for the visit Alex, that happened yesterday evening.
    A bit quieter today.

    Yvonne.

  31. Alex I saw that the hit counter was required but since I just reading the posts over there I'm curious if there is reason to have like for blogger tour people wanting stats or something.

  33. Okie, I'm a big Nolan fan as well!

Dezz, the group wanted me to organize the blogroll into sections, but how do I divide up my friends? I might still change it back to post titles, too. And the awards are staying. I moved a couple blogger buttons to their own page, but that was it.
And thanks, Dezz. Now I'm all embarassed!

    Yvonne, that JUST happened? Wild!

    Ready, Ted?

Seriously though--I left you a message via blog, but you'll need to email ME, as my email is public and yours isn't (at least that I see)

  35. Party?

    Am I late???

Book trailer of yours? Oh, so you're an author?

I am getting interested. My blog intro says and I quote: "I think I shall write books and get rich and famous, that would suit me, so that is my favorite dream"....

well, til now, it is my favorite dream...:)

hope to get a copy of yours, autographed of course by you...:-)

  37. Looking forward to seeing the trailer, Alex.

Saw Karate Kid this week and loved it. Watching a mini-Will Smith with Jackie Chan was a lot of fun.

  38. Wow, exciting news a book trailer!!!
Congrats to you also Congrats Ted~

I look forward to your "Inception"
review, I really want to see this one! I may take the kids and go, next week~(21 and 14-not wee ones)

I like the changes, they are subtle, but it seems more cohesive. A scifi vibe with a bigger punch~
