WE’VE GOT MOVIE SIGN! Ninja News, Wednesday Movie Quote, Movie Review, March Movies, and Movie Trivia

And bonus points if you can name the movie/show from that first sentence!

Ninja News

Justine Dell’s All-American Girl hit the shelves on Tuesday. She’s on tour with many opportunities to win free books and stuff. Congratulations, Justine!

Isis Rushdan, awesome person that she is, will be giving away copies of my books today! You rock, Isis.

Don’t forget, Wednesday March 6 is the next posting for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group. My awesome co-hosts will be Misha Gericke and Joylene Nowell Butler!

Thanks to those who’ve continued to post my next book’s cover this week. (And to clarify, my publisher did the cover for CassaStorm. Carrie Butler made the three book graphic.)
Michael Di Gesu at In Time posted on Monday with a “Journey into Space” and the series continues all week – check it out!The Ninja Captain and Cadet Michael are traveling the universe.

And since today is all about movies, don’t forget that March 18 is my Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest.

Wednesday Movie Quote

Leave your favorite quote in the comments or play along on your own blog.

Today – romantic comedies.

My quote comes from one of the best romantic comedies ever made, When Harry Met Sally, and it’s a classic:

“I’ll have what she’s having.”

Next week – cell animation movies.

Movie Review

Ted
Despite the fact it was directed by Seth MacFarlane, I couldn’t bring myself to see this in the theater, but I caught it last weekend on NetFlix.
A childhood wish brings Ted to life, and many years later, he and Wahlburg’s character are still friends. Yes, it’s crude, and crosses the line more than once. (A lot less than Family Guy does though, which surprised me.) Ted is snarky but not mean-spirited. Their friendship is tested when Wahlburg’s girlfriend suggests Ted moves out on his own.
I liked it more than I thought I would. What surprised me was that at its heart, this is romantic comedy. If you can get past the crude aspects, it’s both funny and sweet.

March Movie Preview

Here are the upcoming movies for March! As always, descriptions courtesy of the IMDB. Snarky comments by me.

1 -

Jack the Giant Slayer
The ancient war between humans and a race of giants is reignited when Jack, a young farmhand fighting for a kingdom and the love of a princess, opens a gateway between the two worlds.
Director: Bryan Singer
Stars: Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy
If you’ve seen the original (preferably the version slayed by MST3K’s Riff Trax guys) then you know this has to be better!

8 –

Oz the Great and Powerful
A small-time magician with dubious ethics arrives in a magical land and must decide if he will be a good man or a great one.
Director: Sam Raimi
Stars: James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis
The previews are great and Rami as director raises its chances. (And it has Rachel Weisz!)

Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey
Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey follows the real life rock-n-roll fairy tale story of Filipino Arnel Pineda, who was plucked from You Tube to become the front man for iconic American rock band, Journey, thereby becoming the latest performer to go from the Internet to real life celebrity. Having already overcome a life full of painful obstacles and now saddled with the immense pressures of leading a world renowned band and replacing a legendary singer, the film follows Arnel on this personal journey.
Director: Ramona S. Diaz
Stars: Arnel Pineda, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory
I won’t catch it in theaters, but the success of Pineda as Journey’s new front man is amazing.

15 –

Upside Down
Adam and Eden fell in love as teens despite the fact that they live on twinned worlds with gravities that pull in opposite directions. Ten years after a forced separation, Adam sets out on a dangerous quest to reconnect with his love.
Director: Juan Solanas
Stars: Jim Sturgess, Kirsten Dunst, Timothy Spall, Agnieshka Wnorowska
This one has been delayed a while. Never a good sign!

22 –

The Croods
The world's very first prehistoric family goes on a road trip to an uncharted and fantastical world. Directors: Kirk De Micco | Chris Sanders
Stars: Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener
Can anyone name a Nicolas Cage film in the last ten years that was good? Maybe since he’s just a voice it will be all right.

29 –

G.I. Joe: Retaliation
The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Director: Jon M. Chu
Stars: Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Ray Park, Bruce Willis
This one was delayed from last summer. And it has Dwayne Johnson. This could be road kill.

Movie Trivia!

Quotes from blockbuster movies – name the movie:

1 – "Certainty of death, small chance of success… What are we waiting for?"

2 – "You HAVE the right to remain silent. What you lack is the capacity."

3 – "Sir, I’m gonna have to ask you to exit the donut."

4 – "No, I’m, I’m simply saying that life, uh… finds a way."

5 – "That when a willing victim who has committed no treachery, is killed in a traitor’s stead, the stone table will crack, and even death itself would turn backwards."

Ready for next week’s IWSG? Following the Journey into Space? What’s your favorite romantic movie quote? Excited about any of the March movies? And care to take a stab at the trivia?

Do you know, I only saw When Harry Met Sally for the first time last year? I can't believe I missed out on it for so long, it's awesome!

Ooh I know some of these quotes!
1. Is from The Fellowship of the Ring. Gotta love Gimli

3. Is Nick Fury in Iron Man 2

5. Is from Narnia.

So excited I know some this time! One day I'll get them all.

Elizabeth Spann Craig said...

Is the first line a reference to Forrest Gump? :)

OZ and Jack look good for March movies.

Heather M. Gardner said...

Good Morning!!!

Harry Met Sally is certainly one of the best ever made. I haven't seen it in ages. Would be fun to watch again.

I'm not sure I could watch Ted. Maybe if it was already on then I could use the excuse that I couldn't reach the remote or something.

These are all just filler movies until IM3 comes out. :)

Trivia!
1. Isn't that one of the Tolkien movies?
2. Shrek!
3. IM2
4. Jurassic Park (FAVORITE CHARACTER IAN MALCOLM!)
5. I should know this but it's not coming to me.

Natalie Aguirre said...

My daughter and husband want to see TED and I'll probably watch it too just to watch a movie with them, though I'm not excited about it.

Really looking forward to Oz the Great and Powerful and may break down and see this at the theater. I'll wait to rent Jack the Giant Slayer.

I enjoy trying to answer the trivial questions though I never get the answers but it's fun trying,
Have a good day Alex.

I am super excited for Jack the Giant Slayer. Oz the Great and Powerful sounds great, too. I've seen Ted and thought there were some funny moments. Really crude jokes always make me cringe. ;)

I'm looking forward to your Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest.

2. Shrek
3. Ironman2
4. Jurrasic Park

I'll definitely see the Oz movie. I'm a Franco fan and the trailer looks great.

What about that Nic Cage film where he, er, wait... oh nevermind.

"It's your time to say something, Mr. Darcy. I've told you about the dance. Now you ought to remark the size of the room or the number of couples"

This is Elizabeth's line when dancing with Mr. Darcy: irony and hidden reproach - my favorites!

I pferer the 2003 version and the movie is on my list for your blogfest.

Matthew MacNish said...

I never catch many movies in the theater, but I'd like to try to get to Oz.

Louise said...

Ooh, I actually know some of the trivia questions this time. #1 is Gimli from LOTR, and #5 is Aslan from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Can you tell what my favorite genres are?

I love the Oz books more than any adaptation I've ever seen, so I'm curious how this latest movie will do. It certainly looks interesting!

S.A. Larsenッ said...

So excited for Justine! She's doing awesome. Love that.

'K, it's official; I suck at your movie trivia. And yes, I cheated to find the answers. :)

Rusty Carl said...

Didn't Season of the Witch sweep the awards shows a couple of years ago?

1. The Princess Bride
2. ?
3. Iron Man 2
4. Jurassic Park
5. ?

Jemi Fraser said...

I think #1 is Gimli but I also think it's pretty close to Kirk's line in ST-Generations movie. Maybe (I do stink at these trivia questions :))

Madeline Mora-Summonte said...

I think #5 is The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

And I don't know what happened with Nicolas Cage. I thought Con Air and The Rock were really good...

Donna K. Weaver said...

"finds a way" is Jurassic Park (loved that movie). I'm looking forward to Oz. Retaliation had to be redone because they killed off a main character in the first go and the test audiences were ticked.

Al Diaz said...

Wow!! You made a trivia for me, hahahah. 1. Lord of the Rings, 2. Shreck. 3. THe Sympsons Movie, 4. Jurassic Park. 5. The Chronicles of Narnia (first one).

I feel so proud of myself today. :D

L. Diane Wolfe said...

Journey's new lead singer is amazing.

Drawing a blank on a romantic comedy quote today.

Elise Fallson said...

I'm terrible at trivia but one of my favorite romantic comedy movies is French Kiss.

Here's a quote:

Kate: You'll become one of those hunchbacked, lonely old men, sitting in the corner of a crowded cafe, mumbling to yourself, "My ass is twitching. You people make my ass twitch."

Old Kitty said...

Favourite romantic quote?

"We'll always have Paris" (Casablanca).

Swoon and sob!

Take care

Cindy said...

I missed the last IWSG, but I will have something this time.

Sandra Ulbrich Almazan said...

I haven't been to the movies in years, but I did recognize #5. I did see Harry and Sally, so I'm not a complete pop culture illiterate. ;)

The Oz and Journey movies look interesting. Maybe if my in-laws watch our son, my husband and I could see one of these.

Laura Eno said...

Michael's journey into space is both hilarious and full of awesome!

I don't see any movies in that list worth seeing...poor Dwayne. :)

Optimistic Existentialist said...

I can't wait to watch Oz the Great and Powerful!!

The only quote I recognized was #4 (Jurassic Park?)

Rawknrobyn.blogspot.com said...

#2 is great. I'm pretty sure I know which donut #3 references (Randy's humungous cement donut structure in LA), but I don't know the movie, or any of them.

I'm conflicted about Oz. I hate that it's a remake but I'm intrigued.

Be well, Alex.

I finally know some of the quotes! :)
1. The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King - said by Gimli (my favorite movie series!)
3. Iron Man 2
5. The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

Again, I love your book cover - it's fantastic! I think I'm most excited to see Jack the Giant Slayer. It looks really exciting!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Imogen, very good!

Elizabeth, sorry.

Heather, you got four right.

Tracey, it did have its crude moments.

JL, almost perfect!

Moody, exactly!

Adriana, very good!

Louise, you got it!

Rusty, the Razzies! And you got two.

Jemi, go with your first answer.

Donna, very good.

Al, you got four right.

Elise, that's a funny quote!

Laura, his series is great!

Optimistic, you are correct.

Robyn, not a remake - it's based on another Oz book.

So many great movies coming out - March is gonna be good!

Out of all those movies I'm most excited to see Oz. It has my interest piqued.

And I just started working on Wednesday's IWSG post this morning! I'm trying to turn over a new, more organized leaf. Now let's see how long I stick to it, LOL

Jeremy [Retro] said...

I am looking forward to the group of films, though sadly some will fail!

Cherie Reich said...

I'm ready for IWSG! :)

I think Jack the Giant Slayer and Oz the Great and Powerful both look awesome.

Movie Trivia: 1. Lord of the Rings, but I can't remember which part. 2. Don't know. 3. Don't know. 4. Jurassic Park 5. Don't know.

Unknown said...

Some awesome movies coming out! Also, I won't forget your blogfest on the 18th. I can't wait.

Mark Means said...

While I'm not a huge Franco fan, "Oz" looks pretty interesting. I -was- looking forward to G.I. Joe, but heard the delay was to do re-shoots because they decided, last minute, to no kill off Duke. Not sure how that's all going to play out, so I might wait until DVD for it.

The only movie quote I know is #3, from Iron Man 2, I believe.

I'm ashamed to say that I thought the first Ghost Rider was "o.k"...though not really because of Nick Cage...

T. Powell Coltrin said...

I own When Harry met Sally. I want to see jack the giant and oz the powerful. I thought about netflixing Ted, but (I think) it had only one or two stars. Although, it looks funny, I don't think I could get past the crude and rude. :)

Michelle Wallace said...

Thanks for the IWSG reminder. I'm off to Michael's place now------

Elizabeth Seckman said...

I have yet to see "When Harry Met Sally". I have seen "Ted"...repeatedly...I have teenage boys and watching movies in an endless cycle is normal...I hope.

Julie Flanders said...

Oh, I love When Harry Met Sally and that quote is definitely a great one LOL.
I think #4 is Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurassic Park but I'm clueless on the rest.

The Captain and Cadet's adventure in space sounds like fun, heading over to check that out.

Summer Ross said...

The jack and the giant movie looks interesting and maybe G I Joe. otherwise not interested. LOL

Trivia- Um- ya so bad at that.

have a great day, Alex.

CBame13 said...

Ted was awesome because of the crassness, not in spite of it :)
To be honest though, the second half really dragged on for me.

Hart Johnson said...

My Romantic Comedy quote is from Princess Bride: You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Or: Then why didn't you list that among our assets!?

Or: You been mostly dead since this morning.

Or: I'm not a witch! I'm your wife!

And the Nicholas Cage movie I liked this decade: National Treasure. I like it a lot (the sequel less so, but the original I thought was great)... Though Wild at Heart REALLY has been fairly impossible to follow...

RaShelle Workman said...

I really want to see Jack the Giant Slayer. The others... maybe.

Anonymous said...

The first GI Joe was road kill and I could't watch it. I expect more of the same.

Will see the Croods with the kids this weekend. Sigh.

Looking forward to Jack the Giant Slayer. This is right up my alley.

Michael Di Gesu said...

Hi, Alex,

Thanks for the shout out!

I am SO PSYCHED About OZ.... Can't wait to see it. Most movies in the past few months haven't really piqued my interest.

Need to get on my post for the IWSG... This week had been nuts with edits, critiquing for blogger buddies, and writing posts.

How does everyone keep up?

As for you Alex, I've given up trying to figure out how YOU MANAGE.... AMAZING.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Leigh, good one!

Karen, great minds...

Jay bird, I bet you stick to it.

Cherie, got two!

Mark, correct, and it was "all right."

Teresa, it is crude.

Julie, correct!

Hart, can't go wrong with those quotes.

mshatch said...

Poor Nicholas Cage, he does choose some bad movies to be in but Kick-Ass was not one of them. I highly recommend it. As for GI Joe, I know I really didn't like the first one so I pretty much know I won't like the second either - and knowing is half the battle :)

Trivia:
1. LOTR - of course!
4. Jurassic Park
5. The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Favorite romantic movie quote...

"As you wish."

Anonymous said...

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"

Movies and insecurities - see you all there...thanks for the reminder, as the one is sneaking up fairly fast on me...

Kudos, warm fuzzies and all that good stuff to everyone on your shout out list today!

Best of Wednesday to all!

#4 is from Jurassic Park! I can't believe I actually knew one! haha.

I'm excited about Oz and anything with Ewan McGregor is on my list to see.

Unknown said...

Not a big movie buff, but as always, thanks for keeping us tuned into what's happening.

Charity Bradford said...

Wow! I actually knew 4 of the 5 of those movie quotes.

The Host is also coming out in March. I'm on the fence about it and will probably hate it the first time I watch it. But I love the book so I'll watch it anyway. :)

Carol Kilgore said...

I love that movie quote, too!

Roland D. Yeomans said...

OZ has my eye as does JACK. I think both will benefit from the quality of professionals each has.

Cassie Mae said...

Ooh you're talking rom coms. I don't have very many faves because I'm not much of a chick flick watcher (surprising since that's what i write, haha!) But I like Sandra Bullock's Ball dance in The Proposal. (To the window, to the wall!)

And trivia I know this time around!

1: Return of the King
2: Shrek
3: Iron Man 2 (I think. I can't remember if it was one or two)
4: Jurassic Park
5: Narnia (I'm pretty sure the first one)

Sheena-kay Graham said...

I'm a huge animated movie fan but no way am I paying to see that movie in theatres. It just doesn't strike me as worth my money. Oz and Jack are definitely on my list and in Jamaica, Warm Bodies hits theatres today. So I know where I'll be Saturday evening. Thanks for all the news and I love your movie quote choice.

Robin said...

When Harry Met Sally... Bwahahahaha. Well, you know my feelings about THAT movie. All of my feelings IN DETAIL.

If I have time today I will play along again. I actually have another movie in mind. My mental gears just don't stop turning.

And thank you again for the award. It really was an honor. I wasn't kidding about the part where just reading my name left me gasping for breath. You read SO MANY blogs. I truly do feel honored that you consider my little corner of the Blogoverse even remotely Inspiring. ::she tips hat::

Trivia
1. LOTR
2. ?
3. Iron Man 2
4. ?
5. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe!

Almost ready for IWSG, going to follow the Journey in just a minute. And I forgot the Wednesday quote - I've been forgetting a lot of things lately. Sorry.

Anonymous said...

0. MST3K
1. Gimli, LOTR: RETURN OF THE KING.
2. Shrek, SHREK 2.
3. Nick Fury, IRON MAN 2.
4. Dr. Ian Malcolm, JURASSIC PARK.
5. Aslan, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE.

As for the movies, JACK and OZ top my list. I've heard of UPSIDE DOWN, and the concept is interesting. Sad about its delay and what it could say about the film.

farawayeyes said...

For starters you stole my quote. Go figure! Not sure if my next choice actually qualifies as a Rom/Com but...

"Our captain proves to be more cunning than originally thought."

For the first time ever I knew 1, 2 and 5 of the trivia questions.

Ready for the IWSG - I hope.

I'm excited for the summer/spring movie season to start. I haven't been to the theater in a while. Just nothing has interested me. But these new offerings look awesome.

I love what Michael Gesu did with your book cover spotlight. It is awesome and so much fun to read.

M.J. Fifield said...

The first quote is Gimli in The Return of the King. The fourth one is Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park. I think the fifth one is from Narnia. I"m sad to say I do not know the other two.

Karen Lange said...

Ah, the movie quotes - numbers 1 and 3 look familiar but I can't place them. Is number 4 from Jurassic Park?

Thanks for all the info!

Johanna Garth said...

Michael's post for your book was sheer awesomeness.

I think the movie I'm most looking forward to seeing in the next few weeks is Oz. I think that's what it's called. Some kind of prequel to Wizard of Oz.

Nancy Thompson said...

What? Is March bad movie month or something? Not much in the way of choices. Okay, let's see, my favorite rom-com line goes something like: "I'm just a girl, asking a boy to love her." From Notting Hill, one if my all-time favorites.

randi lee said...

I know it's sappy, but I have to say that my favorite romance is Love Actually. And I'll be honest--no clue on any of those quotes!!!

Andrew Leon said...

I want to see a lot of the March movies, but I doubt it will actually happen.

LD Masterson said...

Oh pooh. I didn't know any of the quotes this time.

I think the new Oz movie will be at the top of my list for March.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Stephen, my sympathies, as it doesn't look great.

Michael, the series rocks! Can't wait to see where we go next.

MsHatch, very true - Kick Ass was good. Score on the trivia and excellent quote!

Kathy, good for you!

Charity, they just seem to be advertising it as another young adult angst, and I thought the book was supposed to be for adults.

Cassie! Good to hear from you. And perfect score.

Sheena-kay, enjoy!

Robin, of course! And all of you are special friends.

Tyrean, you got three, and I forgot it two weeks in a row. Bad Ninja!

Joshua, you are a true movie nerd - a hundred plus!

Faraway, sorry!

MJ, but you got three.

Karen, yes!

Randi, a lot of people really like that film.

Rebecca Green Gasper said...

Some of those movies look great. I hope I get some time to see some. Did not get into Ted, though. I ended up leaving the room and doing something else. Not really my kind of humor, I guess. Enjoyed Michael Di Gesu's post this week- very creative. Congrats again on your book cover reveal. Best:)

Mel Kinnel (@TizMellyMel) said...

I haven't seen Ted for the simple fact I don't care for Seth MacFarlane's work. When this movie came out to theaters, I remember a lot of people online claiming that they couldn't wait to see it. I guess he has a large fan base.

I can't wait to see Jack the Giant Slayer. I've been eyeing the previews for awhile. Oz looks promising but I'm not sure if I'll make it to see that.

There's plenty of good films coming out in March, but the ones you listed don't intrigue me. I may see Oz: The Great and Powerful with my family, but it isn't like I MUST see it in theaters. I want to see The Call and Admission this month :D. Can't wait until those films hit the big screen!!

I may have to see Ted, but it's not convincing me enough to see it because I heard it's gross and crude.

I had to quick scroll past all the comments so I did not cheat....but since I was pretty certain of 80% of them, I figured I'd play this week.

1- I almost was thinking Kirk in ST: Generations, but isn't this from "Return Of The King?"

2- Shrek (how I know that one I do not know)

3- Iron Man 2 (it's been on FX daily or I'd have guessed Homer Simpson)

4- Jurassic Park (the first one, although it probably gets repeated in each film)

5- I do not even have a guess for this one...I'll go look after I post this...

I just signed up for the Top Ten Movie Countdown Blogfest. Cool idea, but you are the epitome of cool! :) I so didn't know any of the quotes. Darn. I'm ready for next week's IWSG. I'm glad to be back.

Another jam-packed post, Alex!

None of those movies call for me but I will see G.I. Joes eventually (Bruce Willis).

And I may be in the minority but I like Nick Cage almost every time. Ever since Valley Girl!

Have a great week!

Congratulations on your book!

Gary, Joylene and Misha are awesome!

Tina, you got two, and glad you are on board for the blogfest.

Julia, thank you!

Chuck, I remember that film!

Unknown said...

That first one is LOTR Fellowship of the Ring and the last from Chronicles of Narnia The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I'm too tired to remember the others LOL.

I can't wait for the blogfest and I'm gearing up for Oz. Now just because it has Dwayne Johnson doesn't mean its roadkill, but then again, this is G.I. Joe. ;)

Shannon Lawrence said...

1. One of the LOTR.
4. Jurassic Park
5. Narnia

I can't think of a favorite romantic movie quote. Hmph. Now horror...

I'm excited about Jack, Oz, the Croods and GI Joe.

Nicholas Cages is in the Groons??? Darn it. There goes that movie. :(

But maybe you're right about the voice. Surely he can do that without over acting. Right????

That was supposed to be Croods not Croons. Oops!

I now what to watch Harry Met Sally ;D

Nicholas Cage thinks he is Captain Kirk, ....ooooh, I didn't say that!

Daughter is going to see the Giant movie in 3D. Her boyfriend's uncle managers a theater.

Me, I am anxious for OZ!

Samantha May said...

Kick-Ass was actually really good (Nick Cage was in it...). Then again, I like the crude humor. I have every Family Guy season on dvd. I still have not seen Ted though.

Unknown said...

What I loved about Ted was that it was Seth MacFarlane's love letter to the 80s (the same reason why I loved Wreck it Ralph, and why I should really read Ready Player One)

One of my favorite quotes from Harry Met Sally :)

1. LOTR - Gimli
2. Shrek - Shrek
3. No clue
4. Jurassic Park - Dr Malcolm
5. Narnia - Aslan

I have my IWSG post scheduled - but it may offend so I may not actually post it. Your cover reveal has been awesome. I post so little these days I miss a lot of opportunities to promote novels for my friends.

Have a good week Alex.

I saw the shorts to Oz when I went to see Beautiful Creatures last week, it looks great!

Everyman's Journey sounds interesting, I would most likely enjoy watching it!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Melissa, correct, and you may be right about that...

Shannon, got three! And we'll have to do horror soon.

Stina, we can only hope!

Ella, you did say that - funny!

Samantha, Kick Ass was good. And you definitely need to see Ted.

Good point, Jamie. And Super 8's tribute to the 70's was why I liked that film.

Donna, got four! And would offend? Serious subject then?

Carolyn, I'll enjoy watching it - anything to do with rock music.

Unknown said...

Wow. Lots going on today. Ok.

Hope I win your two books from Isis!

Your fav RC line IS the best, but how 'bout, "What's Brett Favre doing here?" hehehe (There's Something About Mary)

My hubs was saying last night that James Franco reminds him of a young Johnny Depp. Has that mysterious look and is strange. Kinda has a point.

And as for the quotes, the only one I know is #4 - Jurassic Park

Nickie said...

The only one of the movie trivia I know this time is #5 (Chronicles of Narnia The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrode -- and I really know this from reading the book 15 million times as a kid).

There's nothing I'm dying to see in march. I think the Evil Dead remake comes out next month (that's total blasphemy, right?) I'll probably see Jurassic Park in 3D with my husband -- that's his all time favorite movie.

A Beer for the Shower said...

No matter how many times he insists on calling himself Dwayne Johnson, I still think of him as "The Rock."

Also, I thought the same with Ted. I saw it expecting kind of a mish-mash of Family Guy jokes, but it was pretty funny and a bit sweet as well. It was better than I expected.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

I have to wait until Oz comes on Netflix because our movie theaters are too far away. Hate driving home on these highways in the dark. Too many mooses, as in the 4 legged kind.

Favourite quote: "I've just been in a bad mood for the past 40 years."

Haha, guess I like it 'cause I can relate.

Maurice Mitchell said...

Of course it's "When Harry met Sally" Alex! "Jack the Giant Slayer" has some bad buzz, but should be awesome in 3-D

Sarah Ahiers said...

I was also surprised by how tame ted ended up being. And we watched the unrated version.
We really liked it, and there were like three scenes where we laughed so hard. So overall, it was good.

The more previews i see for The Groods, the more i want to see it

Mark said...

I've been meaning to see Ted...also I like the quote from When Harry Met Sally:)

cleemckenzie said...

I have so many movies to catch up on. Maybe I'll just lock myself inside a theater and eat popcorn for a month or two.

Off to work on my InsecureWriters' post and that A-Z that looms large on my horizon.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Terri, hope you do win! And he does look a little like Depp.

Nickie, it's an awesome movie!

Brandon and Bryan, I was really surprised by Ted.

Joylene, you hit a moose, the moose will win.

Maurice, I plan to see it tomorrow.

Sarah, it was really tame compared to Family Guy.

Lee, a month in a theater would be great!

Tony Laplume said...

The National Treasure movies were awesome. The Sorcerer's Apprentice was awesome. World Trade Center was awesome. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was awesome. I even enjoyed Ghost Rider! And just outside of the ten-year mark you set is Adaptation, which is a classic by any standard.

Nate Wilson said...

Ugh, only 2 of 5 without a Google search on the trivia (The Jurassic Chronicles). I'm slipping. That, or I have no memory for sequels.

Melissa said...

Yes! I'm ready for IWSG.

Thanks for the review of Everyman's Journey. I passed that one on to hubby. I can't believe how much Arnel sounds like the original!

Leovi said...

Yes, Jack the Giant Slayer can be fantastic ...

I love your new cover, Alex!

I want to go see Oz. I think it will be good!

Charles Gramlich said...

Both Lana and I liked Ted quite a bit. We got some pretty good laughs, especially from the fight scene. I do want to see Oz as well

Patricia Stoltey said...

Your comment list is always longer than your blog post, Alex. I'm a loser at the movie trivia even though I do watch movies. The only quote I readily remember (and it's not from a romantic comedy) is "Go ahead. Make my day." :D

Bryan Russell said...

Looking forward to the new Oz. So so on Jack the Giant Slayer, though I have great respect for Bryan Singer, who directed my favorite movie (The Usual Suspects).

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Tony, the only other one I can recall is Kick Ass.

Nate, first thing to go is the mind...

Melissa, I think he sounds even better!

Patricia, in a month my posts will be even shorter.

Bryan, you rock! One of my favorites as well.

Gosh, Alex...you really do have an army!! I don't usually like romantic comedies but When Harry Met Sally is one notable exception, and I agree with you, that is a great line. I can't name any movies. I'm not good at this but I know a lot of people that #2 applies too! Have a great weekend Captain.

I really want to see Ted.

I wish I could be part of the blogfest, but I already have something penciled in for that day.

DMS said...

I have watched When Harry Met Sally a million times. Love it! I especially love at the end when Harry say, "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone- you want the rest of your life to begin as soon as possible." :)

Lots of great movies come out soon!

I guess GI Joe was delayed so long that I actually thought I had missed it.

When I see a Nicholas Cage film preview these days, I either laugh or cringe.

Winners have been chosen!

You truly are an amazing Ninja Capt!

the croods - for me to see with kids

oz- for me, maybe some kids

ted - wanna see just for mark wahlberg, but due to crudeness, i'll just stare at picture!!

looking forward to bloghop!! you're announced on my blog today!

I finally know some movie trivia. I think #1 is from Star Trek Generations, and #4 is Jurassic Park.

My favorite quote from a romantic comedy: "When you first entered the restaurant I thought you were handsome...and then, of course, you spoke." From, As Good As it Gets.

Now I'm going to look back and see what other people wrote. Have a lovely day.

Belle said...

Aaaack! I was wrong about #1.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know a movie was being made about Journey! Upside Down sounds very interesting, too! I still want to see Ted, but I have a feeling not even Bruce Willis and The Rock will make GI Joe 2 a good enough movie to sit through in theatres.

I saw Gimli saying #1 but wasn't sure until someone else said it.

#4 is definitely Jurassic Park

#5 is The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I really want to see Oz. It's been a long time in the making - and I love Mila Kunis!
