Out of my Comfort Zone

Guess it's time I ventured out.

I've set up a Twitter account, so I really hope some of my blogger friends find me there. I found Shannon and Beth, but don't know who else to follow.

I need to start thinking about a blog tour as well. I know my publisher is setting up some dates, but I need to secure a few, too. Not sure how I go about doing that, so any tips are welcome! Three people have already offered to host me, so that's a start.

Nice to see so many people have signed up for The Movie Dirty Dozen blogfest! I was worried I'd be doing that on my own.

Now, to wrap this up, Will at Fatherhood and Other Common Terrors gave me the Versatility Award.

So the rules are this: 1) Thank the person who gave you the award. (Thanks Will!) 2) Share 7 things about yourself. 3) Pass the award along to 15 bloggers you've recently discovered and you think are awesome. (Thanks Bossy Betty, I picture dead rabbits now.) 4) Let your nominees know you've honored them.

I think all of my blogger friends are versatile – I’ve learned so much from everyone. So play along if you’d like.

7 Things:
1) Practicing my guitar is the most relaxing thing I do. Okay, maybe second most.
2) I’ve seen a hundred concerts. Yes, I like my music.
3) I hate mowing the lawn. Thought about paving the whole thing or installing AstroTurf.
4) I like spicy food.
5) I used to be a big D&D geek.
6) I enjoy watching sports, but I’m not good at any of them.
7) I hate driving. Hope someone invents teleportation in my lifetime. Stun guns for the hood of my car also welcome.

Have an awesome day, everyone!

I love D&D geeks! I wish the world was still in a place where D&D could be huge, but apparently its time has passed.

Good luck with Twitter - I started an account but just run out of time. What with Twitter, Facebook and Blogging I think we should all be awarded an extra hour a day... then you could teach me how to play the guitar!!

I love playing my guitar too!!! I don't do it every day like I should. It's good therapy.

Congratulations on your award.

My son told me that I will kill my blog if I twit because I would release my inspirational pressure and won't be able to blog well.

I'm off to find you.

Didn't they used to get the kids in the Gifted classes to play D&D to encourage their imagination skills? Makes sense.

Good luck with Twitter. I know there's a lot of potential there but I've never really gotten in to it other than to announce a new post. I just went and am now following you though!

And congrats on the award!

Be sure to tune in tomorrow! The long absent CCP will be posting! Gosh it's great to be back!

Glad to be of service. They won't be dead for about a week--unless you take care of them. (I think I hear them scratching at your door....)

Congrats on your award! Now get busy!

ooh i LOVE to drive!

I think i've finally convinced myself not to join Twitter. I barely use my FB.

I don't know how a blog tour works either, but i'd be willing to host you or whatever you'd need. I'm so excited about your book!

Awesome stuff Alex! Spicy food is the shiznit. Now what's your favourite genre of music? And when I sign up for twitter, I'll defintely follow you!

Awesome! Following your tweets now. :)

Are we talking blog interviews and discussing your book? If so I'd be happy to have you, though I don't know that I'm the best person for that lol.

Good luck with the tour and Twitter (it's not so hard)!

Ted, D&D appears in computer games now I guess.

Eternally, I'd teach you!

Ocean Girl, that is odd advice - hope it's not true.

Will, makes sense to me.

Crystal!! Good to hear from you.

India, I must be on a roll then.

Betty, I'm sure there's more to come.

Falen, thank you! I appreciate that.

Bryan, I am a prog rock/ heavy metal kind of guy.

Amanda, thank you so much!

And thanks everyone! I now have followers on Twitter.

100 concerts! That's amazing.

I think my husband was into D&D when he was a teenager...he had friends who loved it.

I'm following you on Twitter! :)

L. Diane Wolfe said...

I'll host you, Alex!

And my husband wants cannons on his car hood.

DEZMOND said...

Count in HOLLYWOOD SPY for your blog tour as well :) I'd be more than proud to brag about you over there when the book comes out, off course, only if you give us a picture of yours then as well :)

Teleportation is one my biggest dreams, as well :((

Helen Ginger said...

I love the stun guns for the hood of your car!

If I haven't already offered: I'd love to host you on your blog tour.

And I'll follow you on Twitter. What's your Twitter name? I'll go see if I can find you. If someone named MermaidHel follows you, that's me.

Hey Jemi! Yeah, I need to take a couple hours and see who I can track down. I keep forgetting when I visit other's blogs to look for their Twitter link.

And I would participate in your dirty doz. thing but...we are waaay too into movies around here. Could never narrow it down to 12.

I too, have avoided Twitter... but I will give you a shout out on my blog; Let me know, when!!!

Arlee Bird said...

Be happy to host a date on your blog tour -- just say when.

You know I love my music, but I couldn't tell you right off how many concerts I've been to.
And I love spicy food, but I don't do as well with it as I used to.

JoJo, you could always just select one genre.

Ellie, thanks so much!

Arlee, thanks! And I bet you've seen far more than 100.

Hart Johnson said...

hey, Alex--I'm a relatively incompetent Tweeter, but I'm there, so I'm following you now.

And when you are ready for the blog tour, I am HAPPY to host you! (butt shot optional) Seriously though--just give me a few weeks notice (I'm guessing immediately post release, or VERY immediately pre-release, depending on your goals?)--but I think it would be great to have you on!

Lola Sharp said...

I'm still tweet-free. I don't really even understand the point of it. (but I don't FB either. Did your PR person tell you to twitter?) I don't need another time-suck. I'm barely getting 4-5 hrs. of sleep a night as it is, and I'm still a day late.
That said, the cute bluebirds on people's sidebars is almost tempting. :) I know, I'm such a girl when it comes to cuteness.

CONGRATS on your award. Well deserved, my friend.
Love your 7 things. :)

I've probably been to 100 or more concerts too.
(alas, I don't play any instruments. I wish.)

I've never mowed a lawn...but husband doesn't seem to mind doing it. We have over an acre, so he has a riding Deere mower, and he puts his ipod on and drives. He says it's almost meditative.

I LOVE spicy food and watching sports! Especially NFL.
(though I love to play softball among other sports)

Never did the D&D thing...but in college it seemed all the engineering students were really into it.

I LOVE driving...though I would love weaponry on my hood. Something stronger than stun...a grenade launcher sounds more my speed. ;)

And, I will gladly host you on my blog anytime. Whatever you need.

Have an AWESOME day, Alex!

Carol Kilgore said...

Congratulations on your award! I love learning more about blog buddies.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Hart, thank you for offering!!

Lola, I appreciate that. Yes, I was prodded to expand online. Blogging and Twitter is it, though.
That's three of us who've seen that many concerts!
And I wouldn't mind mowing if I did have a riding lawnmower. At least mine's self-propelled.

Creative Chronicler said...

I am still avoiding the Twitter. Maybe when I have more time, lol, like that will ever happen.

Love the new blog look!!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Thanks, CC. I was going for a sci-fi Matrix look.

I would love to learn how to play guitar. I'm on twitter. carolscornertx
