Genre Girls!

Continuing the A-Z Challenge from Arlee at Tossing it Out

Today is G – Girls!

This should come as no surprise…

I’d like to take this time to point out some genre ladies I admire.

Kate Beckinsale
Yes, I have a fascination with Kate.
Fortunately, her appearance in two Underworld movies wiped that awful Van Helsing movie from my mind.
And supposedly she’ll do another Underworld soon!

Kate Winslet
She’s talented, diverse, and has a sexy accent.
Her performance alongside Johnny Depp in Neverland ranks her among some of the best actresses of her generation.
And I’ve never thought Kate was fat – she’s shapely.
Olivia Munn
Attack of the Show’s co-host is sexy, smart, funny, and a total tech geek.
She’s like one of the guys.
A dream come true for geek boys everywhere.

Rachel WeiszCute smile and charming voice, Rachel is a doll.
She’s also slated to be the next Bond girl!

Michelle PfeifferEven after all these years, Michelle is still sexy.
And the Catwoman suit from Batman II? Wow!
Would you believe she's 52?

So what ladies do you admire? Who do you think is beautiful or talented? And sorry, can't comment on the guys, only the girls!

I've already share with you my fascination with all the celeb Kates - Winslet, Blanchett, Zeta Jones, Beckinsale ...
I've never heard of Olivia before, though.
Both with actresses and actors, I like those with refined charisma and profound intellect, Winslet, Zeta Jones and Blanchett being the perfect examples.
And I must admit VAN HELSING was my favourite movie with Beckinsale, but I generally love Stephen Sommers and his playful take on Hollywood.

ps I think you will enjoy one of the upcoming polls in HOLLYWOOD SPY which will deal with sf beauties :)

This is fantastic. My only comment is that all of your picks have talent attributes, except Kate Beckinsale. I really do get guys obsession with her--gorgeous in the Ava Gardner style. Really, I get it. But what good movies has she actually made? Honestly, I never hear of her doing anything!

The others...perfect choices. And bravo for choosing Michelle Pfeiffer, one of the greatest beauties of our time, and timeless in addition!

My picks? (And I CAN comment on women, confident in my married sexuality of appreciative of the female form.) Definitely Kate Winslet and Rachel Weisz...but also Cate Blanchett (for those cheekbones and portrayal as Kate Hepburn), Milla Jovovich b/c she started it all in terms of foreign bombshells and teenage boys, Catherine Zeta-Jones for her timeless and universal beauty, and Anne Hathaway--that style! those lips! those eyes!

There. My picks.

Gorgeous, glorious and geeky- that's me, but I don't see my name on that list.
*sulks*

Seriously, I adore Kate Winslet, Michelle Pfeiffer and Meg Ryan. I know they have nothing in common, but I do like them all.

even though i know she'd probably be insufferable to be around, i've always found natalie portman extremely attractive. Especially from V for Vendetta.
So attractive in that flick.

Summer said...

@Michele: Have you seen Serendipity? Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack--GREAT movie!

I second Falen--I love Natalie Portman, in everything she's done.

And Rachel Weisz is the next Bond girl? Awesome!

Sorry, Yvonne - send me a photo and I'll add you!

Knew this one would get your attention, Dez. I'm looking forward to the sci-fi beatuties.

Michele, in addition to two Underworld movies (soon to be three), Van Helsing, and Whiteout, Kate has also been in Pearl Harbor, The Aviator, Serendipity, and Much Ado About Nothing.
And Milla's not bad - at least she's natural!

Sorry, Rayna, I'll add you as well.

Happy to oblige, Will!

Fallen and Summer, Portman is a good actress, too.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with your choices, especially the first Kate!

I'd probably add Milla Jovovich to the list. She's my all time favorite actress/model. I fell in love with her in the movie Night Train to Kathmandu.... I hope I spelled that right.

Wow, thanks for the eye candy Alex! Great post!

As for me, I love the ladies you mentioned, plus Drew Barrymore, Ellen Page, Sigourney Weaver, and Helena Bonham-Carter... so much talent (not to mention beauty!)

I've always admired Goldie Hawn. Oh, and I admire Kurt Russell, too!

Helen Ginger said...

I admire women who stand up when others don't want them to, such as Ellen DeGeneres. And women who are strong and self-assured, like Michelle Obama. Or smart like Hilary Clinton and Ann Richards.

Void, that's close enough.

Miller, did you know Weaver is 60?!

When Goldie was young, she was cute.

I liked Van Helsing myself, but hey ho.

Great choice picking Kate Winslet! She's seems so genuine and down-to-earth and her acting is incredible. I also admire Jennifer Aniston (love her style!), Meryl Streep (most of those 16 Oscar nods are well-deserved), and Natalie Portman (so beautiful!).

Lisa said...

Great picks! I would add to them Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon and Toni Collette. :O) Awesome actresses as well as real beauties.

Raquel Byrnes said...

Loved Rachel Weisz in Constantine. She is a great actress and can do both paranormal fantasy and crime dramas...Runaway Jury. Great pic.

Jamie Gibbs said...

Excellent selection! I would definitely add Natalie Portman to the list. She is a brilliant actress and absolutely beautiful :D

DEZMOND said...

Oh, I must agree with Lisa about Toni Collette, she's the best!
But I must say I'm shocked someone would call Hillary Clinton smart and admire her. That woman is pure evil along with her husband.

You forgot the other great Kate, actually with a C.. Cate Blanchet.

hmmm, Jessica Alba when she was on Dark Angel. Rachel McAdams when she's a brunette. Angelina Jolie about 5 years before Brangelina.

Ellie said...

Gorgeous gals...not guys, no fair!
Guess I save that for M is for Men post! ;-D

Stephen Tremp said...

I still love Jessica Alba. In fact, I modeled the bad girl assassin in my book after her physical makeup. Who knows. If there is ever a movie made for Breakthrough, she could play the part of Staci Bevere.

I second Sandra Bullock. And what about Jennifer Garner?

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Good suggestions, everyone.

Palin - before Brangelina - that's good!

Ellie, I'll be watching for your M post then.

Stephen, be sure she gets a script.

Kierah, Jennifer's cute too.

Sorry everyone, iPad came today, so been busy with it!

Those are fabulous girls. I can't believe Michelle Pfeiffer is 52! Wow! And I like that girl on GLEE. Lea Michele, I think her name is. She's got mad talent, yo.

Larry said...

Pfeifffffer is 52?? Amazing!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Yeah, I was rather surprised as well. She is starting to show a little age, but not over 50!
