Upcoming Releases with Cool Cover Art

One thing I really enjoy about sci-fi is the amazing cover art that graces the covers.

The following books are set for release - either new, paperback, or rerelease - this year, and while I don't know if I would pick up the book, the cover definitely catches my attention.
The Noise Within by Ian Whates, April 27

The Machinery of Light by David J. Williams, May 25

Eye of the Storm by John Ringo, June 8

Path of the Warrior by Gav Thorpe, June 29

Shrapnel: Hubris (Vol 2, Book 3) by Nick Sagan, July 20
Nemesis by James Swallow, July 27

The Dervish House by Ian McDonald, July 27

The Ragged Man by Tom Lloyd, August 24

Fear The Alien by Christian Duna, August 31

Starplex by Robert J, Sawyer, September 15

Ugh, book covers are my favourite topic :) I usually decide what shall we put on the book cover and I write the blurbs as well in my publishing house, so those two are something I like a lot and I view it as science and craft not just art, since if those things are made good the book will sell much better and vice versa.

What will CASSASTAR cover look like?
From these books I like the tittles and covers of PATH OF THE WARRIOR and THE DERVISH HOUSE. If I remember correctly I think I wrote some time ago about SHRAPNEL being made into a movie.

Sci-fi covers are the best. I guess the designers feel there's a bit more leeway than some heaving bosom or another. I like Starplex and Path of the Warrior the best!

Alex, when you have a minute would you please email me? Thanks!

Are these US covers? I'm pretty sure the Tom Lloyd covers at least are different here...

I was going to say I hope The Dervish House will have the same cover over here, but on a closer look I don't think the niqabs ought to be there - unless that's what the main head covering in Turkey has become in the book...

Dez, I've seen the concept artwork - a Cosbolt fighter will be in the foreground and a planet and big battle in the background. I'm real stoked to see if finished!

Crystal, will do!

hampshireflyer, yeah, these are US covers, so yours will probably be different...

I'm also stoked to see the cover of your book, and you could put some blurb of the story here in your sidebar or something, it is your pride and joy :) and you should advertise it more and start gathering fans in advance :)

Those are indeed really great covers. I'm with you, I like covers and they will often nudge me to pick up a book and check it out.

I love sci fi & fantasy covers the best too :) The last one in this list is my fave of these covers!

Glad to see so many of you like sci-fi covers, too. The artwork is what draws me in first.

Dez, I did post it a few weeks ago. Rough draft anyway. Maybe I should post it in the sidebar...

Seeing all this cool cover art makes me want to cry--given my current trauma with same.

Ref the ebook question you asked on my blog. Yes...eventually. The book will first be issued in trade paperback. Then, "when it gets formatted," will be issued in ebook form. Though I'm not quite sure how to give the ebook away since it's probably available from official download sites only. Since I KNOW you're gonna be a winner, can you wait? It might be several months before it's ebookable.

Galen, I can wait for an eBook! It would be easier for me - I could read on my iTouch, which goes everywhere with me.

And really hope your cover isn't a disappointment.

I lurve the Machinery of Light cover. I always judge books by their covers so I would probably read that.

I've never been a big fan of the Baen Pocket covers though. Maybe it's the big letters...I don't know. When I was running the genres at the Barne, I would always pass those by when "working". ;)
